Could someone help me out?
I’ll use my Moon for an example.

It Squares Jupiter and Neptune by under 10 degrees - now does that count? It squares them by sign as well. But it’s still a big orb.

So my question is, should I still consider it a Square? Astro.com does.

Thanks a bunch

I would not count it.

Among planets, Sun and Moon have the biggest orbs, the slower the planet is the less orb it has; hypothetical planets, midpoints and arabic parts have the smallest orbs .

Among aspects, conjunction has the biggest orb, karmic aspects - the less ones.

I've got a table of orbs for planets and aspects somewhere, I will post it if I find it.

Well, does it feel like a square to you? And how many planets/aspects dilute its influence?

I use a 6 degree orb for squares, but generally make allowances for wider orbs when dealing with personal or otherwise strong planets.

Thank you Peri I really hope it doesn’t count.

Tula - I don’t know if it feels right, my emotions are strong - but it is a big orb. Moon and Jupiter is 9’31 & Moon and Neptune is 9’42.
I’m a poor judge of my own character - so I’m not sure

*edited to add

Moon is a singleton, and Neptune is my chart ruler

Nymph,

Orbs differ from astrologer to astrologer and astro.com has some of the widest orbs around! Personally, I count squares as wide as 10 degrees which involve the Sun and Moon, and as wide as 8 degrees for the other planets and points. I will even use a stellium (collection of energy) to extend orbs. So, if one planet is in orb conjunct another planet, but the second planet is out of orb, I will include BOTH planets as being "in aspect" to each other.

But everyone has their own favorite orbing system! One thing we can ALL agree on...the closer the orb, the stronger the aspect's effect on the person.

Orbing,

Tim
