I have SN in Aries I dont think it means I was Aries by Sun sign I just must have had prominent Arian traits.

12th house represents something hidden from you: the subconscious mind, hidden resources, hidden problems, etc so I think it has something to do with your past lives maybe it represents unresolved problems from your past you are not aware of in this life.

Sign on the cusp (if you have no planets there) can be of great help.

e.g. I have Sag on the cusp of 12th house and no planets there. So it means that I (may) miss chances and opportunities in life only because I always wait for something better and as a result I have nothing.
