For example, we had resumed emailing each other and he started getting holier than thou and making statements (based on his views of me as a teenager, which seem to be fixated in his mind) that I wasn't concerned about other people, in that I "never asked how they were" etc. etc. (which is crap). He wrote me an email this afternoon which was so patronizing, and proved to me that he hadn't changed and was still as arrogant as ever and expected everyone to fall all over him, that I fired off an email in response that ended something along the lines of "would you rather have a rough diamond that loves you from the bottom of their heart and doesn't bother with all the social niceties (and is therefore an embarrassment) or s/o who goes "mwah, mwah, dahling"? He really believes that everyone who asks "how are you" really means it! So naive!!
Maybe it's Mercury, but I don't feel too great about him right now.

To look at anger issues in a chart we look at Aries, Mars, and 1rst house in a chart. In your chart you have Aries modifying Sun (self-expression) opposite (energy is over-excited by) Uranus (friends, also rebellion); you may have an anger and a need to rebel in your self-expression. You have Gemini (thinking, also talking, writing) modifying Mars square (energy needs to be combined with) Pluto (transformation, also power) focused in the 1rst house; anger issues are also personal power struggles. Mars is also conjunct (energy is combined with) Saturn (duty, also authority) and South node (the past)conjunct Midheaven (outer world); thinking, also talking anger against authority holds you back in your life. Mars is also part of a Grand Cross (strong energy) which connects the four major points of your chart: Ascendant (self), Descendant (others), Midheaven (outer world) and Nadir (inner world); getting mad upsets you ALL over.

Your father's time is unknown, so I will ignore houses. He also has Aries modifying his Sun. He has Taurus (physiscal) modifying Mars conjunct Venus (physical, also desires/relationships) conjunct Uranus (friends, also impulse); he is very physical in his impulsive actions and desires physical, active relationships. Mars has almost all easy energy connecting it to the chart; his Mars energy flows freely and easily.

The difference between you is when you get mad, it rattles you...while his anger flows easily and smoothly through him. Gemini anger is also quicker and briefer...Taurus anger builds and builds until it busts out all over.

Too right. He "winds me up" VERY easily, almost w/out trying.

Again, also astonishingly accurate. He has time and time again said to me when I needed to discuss something important,"I'm not interested in what you have to say" and I believe that is quite true. Talking to him is like talking to a brick wall, I simply can't get through. I have talked to my mother about this and she says he simply just doesn't know how to cope with my approach.

You are also spot on about the physical expression bit. He does a lot of that, but not much thinking!!

I have often had a hunch that the friction was due to my Gemini/Pisces predominance, that deals with emotion AND the verbal expression of it (which he doesn't possess in any large quantities) and his Taurus predominance - I believe he has about 4 planets in Taurus in his chart.

It's quite right what you say about my needing to move on. Every time I try to make some effort at renegotiation I am only disappointed. I told my father last night I was through with trying to make this sort of effort and I simply had to leave him alone, as it was impossible for us to get on.
