Sun- Capricorn
Fav music: Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Chico Debarge, Sean Paul, Elephant Man. Beethoven.

Those are the ones that first come to mind. I love music and appreciate all music. I personally cannot listen to heavy metal or country, I can listen to everything else including Opera.

favorite rock bands/artists (although I listen a lot of other types of music too) include 70's punk like The Clash and The Ramones; "no wave" bands like James Chance, DNA, Mars; other arty, avant-garde bands of that same late 70's-early 80's time period like Joy Division, Wire, Gang of Four, Mission of Burma; 80's indie/underground bands like Flipper, Rites of Spring, Scratch Acid; Fugazi and other Dischord label stuff; Nirvana; Elliott Smith

I also listen to a lot of jazz, blues, classical, world, avant-garde and techno. I could be here all day listing all my favorites

the band am i listening to Explosions in the Sky, godspeed you black emperor and..sigur ros are the three that come to mind

I like a lot of post rock these days and the really long songs with slow build ups and teases before a stunning climax 15 minutes in. Similar to post rock I like the avante garde/Rock in opposition/experimental/krautrock (basically 70s german A.G.) and electronic rock and ambient. I also like jam bands for those more relaxed and extended instrumentals. I also like indie rock, classic rock, late 60s folk rock, blues rock, prog rock (can't go wrong with art rock), raga rock (generally 60s and 70s rock with eastern influences like the sitar, ect.), 70s hard rock, psychedelic and space rock, fusion (and the lesser known canterbury style). a little jazz as well...though more of the jazz rock, (strictly old school) hip hop, bluegrass, reggae, underground punk.

So pretty much everything. if its not listed I consider it crap though classical is an exception, its not my cup of tea but can understand why others would like it.

AcousticGod,
I noticed you put the smiths! I was just listenin to them last night. Someone recently recommended I give them a try. they do indeed kick ass. Give the feelies a try as well!

Sun: Aquarius
Band: Lynyrd Skynard, Alabama, Little Big Town, Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband, Roy Rogers Band.

I strongly dislike pop. No actually I hate it. I don't like techno or Rap, though I've haven't really heard that much rap. Rock is pretty good but I mainly listen to Country.

carlfloydfan,

Hey!!! Explosions In The Sky is amazing! In one of the other sections here, Yellow Wax and Ants or something, I have a thread titled Random Words that I wrote while listening to Explosions In The Sky. I'm not saying my words were great or anything, but I tribute them (Explosions in the Sky) in it.

AG
(Oh, and I was listening to The Smiths last night too.)

Hexxie, if you like early Fugazi, you should check out Rites of Spring. I was seriously loving this band in high school, which was before Fugazi formed. It was the band that Brendan and Guy were in before Fugazi. It's a lot brashier, but really good.

If you like later Fugazi, especially the last albums, you should check out Ian's new band with Amy Farina, The Evens.

Oh and you should check out French Toast's CD In a Cave. It has Jerry Busher, who played drums on the last Fugazi album and is good friends with the band. He did this album with James Canty, Brendan's brother. It's very cool.

All of these are available from Dischord, so they're not expensive!
