Are synastry and composite charts two different things? I would be so grateful if someone here could do one for me. My bf and I are going through a rough patch and it's a really bad time in my life.I feel so lost. birth info: Me: march 17, 1978. Dhaka, Bangladesh. 11:30 pm. Him: July 22, 1977. Mel,Yes, synsastry and composite charts are two different things. Synastry is the energy flow BETWEEN two people, while composite is the energy flow of two people COMBINED. In understanding the way the relationship works, it is useful to use synastry. If a person wants to see of what, ideally, a particular relationship is capable of doing together, then a composite chart is useful. In general, couples will learn more about the relationship from their synastry than their composite. So much for the definitions...on to the interpretation! In doing relationship comparisons, the first step is to understand how each person approaches relationships. This can be seen by looking for Libra, Venus, and the 7th house (all are about relationships) in each chart. In your chart, you have Libra modifying Pluto (transformation, also power), so you may get power in your relationships or be overpowered in your relationships. Aries (being, also action) modifies Venus, so you may tend to focus on what YOU want in a relationship, or might be a "relationship conqueror": getting into relationships aggressively and then moving on after you have gotten what you wanted out of the relationship. Venus is also conjunct your South node (easy goals, the past), indicating this type of approach to a relationship may hold you back in life. You also have Libra modifying North node (future goals), so you have a life goal of being in relationships. You have Moon focused in the 7th house: wherever the Moon in a person's chart there is change, so your attitude toward your relationship may be continually changing. You also have Jupiter (expansion) focused in the 7th house, which might lead to an over-expansion of your expectations for relationships. Your friend also has Libra modifying Pluto and North node. In addition, he has Libra modifying Moon (home, also emotions), indicating he may be emotional about relationships. He has Venus focused in the 7th house, indicating that he is VERY focused on relationships and on the other person in relationships. He also has Jupiter in the 7th house, same as you. The next thing to look at is the relationship chart (your chart is in the middle and his is on the outside). The first thing to look for in relationship charts is any connections between the Sun and Moon by themselves. There is a connection between the Sun and Moon so you do feel "connected" to each other. The next thing to look for are the aspects made between Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars (also called "personal" planets). Here is where the challenges come in, since most of the personal planets are challenged, indicating the couple will have issues to work through if they both decide to be in a relationship together. You also both have planets conjunct each of your North nodes, indicating that you can each help the other achieve their life goals. Relationships take work, particularly challenging relationships. In addition to the issues I mentioned, your friend might not be willing to work through these challenges because he has an "easy" chart with not that many challenges in it. People with easy charts tend to expect life to be easy. When the challenges of life come along, they tend to run away until either things get better or until they find something that is easier to do. This might be the case here: you are willing to work on the challenges, while for your friend, things are becoming too "tough" to bother about any more. Of course, this can all be worked out if you both work at it together. But it might help to have a LONG talk with him about the issues in the relationship and what it will take to get it working again. If he is unwilling to work on the relationship issues, then perhaps it is time to find a new relationship to be in. Hey Tim,Thank you so much for clearing up my confusion about synastry and composite chart (astrological terms can be quite confusing for the layman) and for the interpretation... "You have Moon focused in the 7th house: wherever the Moon in a person's chart there is change, so your attitude toward your relationship may be continually changing." Your analysis kinda makes sense. I have been with my current bf for only a year and my past relationship history kinda makes me apprehensive about the whole happy ever after scenario.I am a bit confused though I thought I had my moon in the eight house...at least that's what the chart on astro said.does that change things? b/c this kinda fits me. I was wondering what you meant by his having an easy chart...Does that mean mine very difficult/challenging then? IP: Logged |

Mel,You are welcome! The difference between my interpretation and astro.com is astro.com automatically "pushes" planets out of the house they are in and into the next house when they get within a certain number of degrees of the next house. I have found it more useful to look at these planets as focusing in BOTH houses. So you have Moon in the 7th house AND Moon in the 8th house. In the context of focusing on relationships, I chose to focus on Moon in the 7th house (relationships). As to my "easy" comment... You have had challenges in your life from the moment of your birth. Challenges in working with your own energies and getting them to "flow" the way you want them to. He, on the other hand, DIDN'T have these challenges, for the most part. It was only after he had to go out in the world and deal with "real life" that he had to face challenges. So he may expect everything to be easy...and get upset when it turns out it isn't all easy. Hey Tim, I think I agree with you, looking at both houses seem more logical then just pushing it to the next house and ignoring the other one completely.Well, you know he does get upset when things get stressful or doesn't work out the way he planned. And you are absolutely spot on about me...I sometimes feel like I am a walking bundle of contradictions.I had to learn how to handle my energies in a productive way. You seem like a very insightful person.I hope you don't mind my asking, what's your sunsign? IP: Logged |

Hey Tim, uh, a virgo...my astrological opposite!I should have guessed from the detailed analysis and the desire to help poor moi...not to mention that very special brand of virgo-ian charm. Thanks again for all the help. HI Happy Dragon, It's always nice to meet someone who's happy. This is probably gonna sound stupid ...my only excuse is that I'm one of those astrological newbies: What do they mean? to me it's like sanskrit... I'd be very grateful if you would care to elaborate a little bit perhaps? Does it explain why I'm feeling totally lost? It's terrible when you feel like you have no direction in your life... It's terrible when you feel like you have no direction in your life... * * * hi m.c. .. some research links below .. .. for transits update go to astro.com and register your chart details .. .. i shall endeavor to get back here and post the main transits that have been effecting the 2 charts .. but do a little research about "chiron" as it looks like it's transit has hit on both charts ... and by 'retrograde' motion .. which could mean an extended transit period .. here is a link re: Lillith in astrology .. as Lillith be aspecting your natal Saturn at moment .. http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum7/HTML/005183.html info .. in addition to above replys ...
( from prev. post) : ... regarding Transits .. as in short explanation .. .. the planets .. as they move arround the zodiac circle, make 'aspects' to the planetary positions set at the time of birth (i.e. the birth chart ) .. .. .. 'aspects' .. are the geometric angles separating the planets around the zodiac .. so transiting aspects are just like the ones found within the chart ( conjunctions, squares, oppositions, trines, sextiles .. etc ) and as the transiting planet moves .. so does the angle change to any given natal planet or placement .. or in other words the transit aspect 'builds up' .. then 'eases off' .. over time .. transits of mars , mercury, venus are relatively short .. a few days .. extended if the planet in question goes retrograde .. those are sometimes known as the 'personal' planets .. or 'inner planets' the transits of the 'outer' planets be somewhat different .. Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus and Pluto move relatively slow .. Jupiter has a 12 yr cycle (cycle .. as in once around the zodiac circle ) .. Saturn 28 yr, Neptune and Uranus about 80 yrs .. and lilltle ol' Pluto .. a couple of hundred yrs or so .. .. .. .. it be the outer planets .. in particular when they aspect a personal placement/planet .. that seem to give folk the hardest or best of times ( in terms of astrological transits and ppl reactions to same ) some links here .. some have explanations regarding transits / progressions 'n such .. ***Astro Help*** http://astro.com http://www.aquarianage.org http://astrologyweekly.com/learn-astrology http://www.horoscope-x-files.com http://www.bobmarksastrologer.com http://www.astrology-numerology.com/astrology.html http://www.geocities.com/wilsontctc http://www.isleofavalon.co.uk/edu/archive/ephem/ea-index.html http://www.astro.com/astrology/in_transits_e.htm http://www.san.beck.org/Astro.html#1 http://www.happydragon.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/Aspecti Links.html * * * * * * * * * * 'later h.d.
