I have been thinking about our species as a whole lately. Astrology always affords me a perspective that enables objectivity, so is very relevant here.I think we are the First Children of the universe. The first generation of understanding what is actually around us. Much as a grandfather has a lifetime of experience that he can guide a new child with, perhaps our role if we survive is to be the guardians of other species as they evolve to find an awareness they currently do not posess. However, we have no fathers or mothers, no grandparents or a rich history to follow. We are the first. We guess our way through an experience too vast to comprehend and do the best we can. Like a child left in the world to find his own way, and in fact exacty like that. For all our mistakes and our self-loathing ways we really have no way of knowing the right direction unless we find it ourselves and to guess would be as near to impossible as anything can ever be. If you push this theory far into the future, the image of a loving, wise race of beings that gently guides the other children of the Earth in subsequent generations is something I find quite inspiring. This is why I choose to be a vegetarian much to my taste buds' dissapointment. Animals are my brothers and sisters even when they have great big teeth or poisonous spikes. Perhaps we have brothers and sisters on far away planets that share our experience, perhaps even older brothers and sisters, but still not a parent to us, they just guess with more experience. We know this fits with the pattern of life as we see the oldest generations of ourselves embrace life with a much more loving touch. The one thing I have yet to understand for myself is the survival of the fittest, animal eat animal foundation of life that seems to indicate a cruelty inherent in the larger design. You could equate this to unknowing children misbehaving on an extreme level, but I think that would be stretching things beyond the ridiculous. But as I said, Astrology is one such method of attaining this wisdom I believe, and why the vast majority of people on this forum are such lovely openminded and wise people. *steps off soapbox* Swerve IP: Logged |

Swerve that was beautiful and it's trueand Atlantis has been found of the coast of Bimini, we will here soon and what Linda wrote about will be proven the 1st. generation is here we're trying to find each other I have only found 3 that I am sure of in the meanwhile undertake to do everything with LOve and realize you are a G U R U God is with you we are their children each and every one of us Cleopatra forced the Gregorian Calendar on Ceasar 12 months it became the Mayans say we have sacrificed our senses, without the natural time piece of 13 months = 364 days see no leap, no half day the the wobble of the Earth can be rotating instead perfectly on its Axis patience is the reward of patience IP: Logged |

Swerve,... I want to say, how very much I appreciate your 'soapbox'. It seems to spark a nerve in those around me and, lately it has been an unavoidable topic of debate... usually to the point of getting too heated... I only give my own perspective, however and yet, it seems a hard pill for those around me, to swallow.... they somehow, instantly feel what appears to be, threatened by this perspective. I have decided recently, because of this, to lay low any time that this topic comes about. It is always a comfort when the reassurance in not being alone, is found. This is what your 'soapbox' has given me.... So, Thank You, Swerve. ~ geminstone IP: Logged |

these are profound and beautiful words, Swerve, deserving of thoughtful attention.and particularly touching... quote: Animals are my brothers and sisters even when they have great big teeth or poisonous spikes.
this is one of my heart's strongest sentiments.... it's one of the reasons i'm here, at an LG website... the lady who taught that animals only began consuming other animals when humans did...they follow our lead... and will follow again, as we return to the nonviolent state of vegans and fruitarians. when, as she meant quite literally, the lion will lie down with the lamb. what you say is true... it is for humankind to take the lead in ceasing the violence of slaughtering our fellow creatures for food...to become a "loving, wise race of beings that gently guides the other children of the Earth," and to dismantle the false "animal eat animal foundation of life..." a cruelty that i believe not to be naturally "inherent in the larger design." and it isn't according to Linda Goodman either. thank you so very much for these illuminating thoughts and the very elegant and compassionate way you have expressed them. salome

Not sure about the animals following our lead. Dinosaurs were tearing each other to pieces a long time before we were around.I do believe there is a point that you can opt out of the food chain. We are at least at that point, but we are still ruled by the tiny instinctual brain at the centre that houses such things as fight or flight, and the baser feelings. Evolution seems to indicate that dog-eat-dog really is the way to go. I cannot be comfortable with that until I know why. Was there no other way for life to sustain itself? Swerve
