Anything involving art, creativity, like museums, galleries, collections, art studios, art schools, as well as domestic order, design and comfort. Comestics, beauty salons, spas, and all things/places realted to making ourselves pretty and pampered are also ruled by the 2nd too.

The 2nd house is at tis heart very domestic, even though the 4th often is een as that. The 4th deals a lot with domestic realtionships and the individual's role within the family structure, whereas the 2nd is more about the domestic environment itself. That includes the house (or other dwelling place) as well as all the things that go into a house - furniture, flooring, building materials, decorations, paint, fabrics/textiles, landscaping, etc and all crafts and skilled labor connected to these things.

By extention, the 2nd house also rules all the places that manufacture and sell things for the home or provide other services (including plumbing, laundry, waste management, etc.). By even further extention, it also rules anything that applies these materials or service in non-domestic enviroments, like businesses.

Because all these materials and services center on comfort, aestheic appeal and personal taste, they're all actually very Venusian and Taurean, even if they are so mudane and taken for granted we fail to realize this. I mean, one doesn't look at a toilet and go "Wow, how Venusian" but when you think about it - it takes icky stuff away for our comfort - it actually is (however, anything that is realted to hygiene is also coruled by Virgo/6th house, but it's amusing to note how often we humans insiste on making hygiene aestheically pleasing).

alanabelle,

Taurus has to do with the physical things around us...things which we personally value (such as money, valuables) and which by extension (as mentinoned by Gemini Nymph) cause us comfort. However, a bank is also about someone ELSE'S money (not our own), and so is co-ruled by Scorpio (other people's money), the sign opposite Taurus. If we don't have any money in the bank it is entirely ruled by Scorpio!

As Gemini Nymph also indicates, it gets a little complicated once we start extending the rulerships of the personal chart into the outside world. For example, the toilet is also associated with Scorpio because it has to do with the human process of eliminating bodily waste (a Scorpio "transformation" process).

Huge books have been written (and rewritten and argued over! ) about this subject of sign rulership in the world. I guess the Taurus rulership of things all comes down to what you personally value in life!

Physically valuing,

Tim
