I've noticed certain things in people's charts that alter their Sun sign behavior greatly.. so I thought I'd share

I see some traits of these people's sun in their persona if I look at them under a massive magnifying glass.. but it's not the main thing that defines their personality, by any stretch of the imagination. It isn't what makes them 'them'.. what they are known for, what they act like etc..

I've mainly noticed:

-Mars/Asc conj when in fire.. this changes the personality and makes it firey, regardless of anything else in the chart.
-Sun/Moon squares - they irritate the person involved because you can't just 'be' and 'be happy' at the same time.. you'll always hate yourself at least a little.. which alters both your sun and your moon.
-T-squares or T-crosses.. when they are involving strong planets..the T-cross or T-square may define that person..and what they are like, their problems, hang-ups and/or qualities.. a lot more than their Sun.
-A great amount of planets in a certain house, may give the person prominent traits of that house, mainly when it's a watery house.
-Singletons have a massive impact sometimes.. The person can act a lot like a singleton by sign/house and planet.. more so than anything else in their chart.

Are there any aspects and placements you've noticed which alter sun sign personality to the extent where you'd have to try hard to pick any of those sun sign traits in the person..

Great Post! Maybe this is why we cannot guess sun signs of some people even after knowing them.

And nice rant
Well, the step brother's behaviour is very disturbing, almost psychopathic. He might change in his Saturn return. Best thing is to pray for him and leave it at that. We dont know what his past life karmic issues were anyway that he is like this.

Thx IQ, that's interesting about guessing. I actually guess moon signs a lot more than sun signs. You can just see the moon in a person's eyes sometimes, specially water moons.

People hide their egos under so many different layers, it's hard to spot the ego..which is what the Sun is...it's the core..but the core isn't really on the surface.. and sometimes it's very picked at by other things.

A lot of interpretations seem to say the Moon is in the unconscious and the Sun is conscious.. but that depends also..Some people have their Moon in the 1st and they pretty much wear their emotions on their sleeve.. which makes them very conscious of their emotions. Other people have suns in the 12th for instance and their Suns stay very hidden. Those are just the typical examples I guess..but there would be a lot more variations when the Moon is visible and the Sun isn't. Air suns with deep moons like Scorpio.. you can spot that straight away.. or so I've noticed.. Maybe it's because air, as an element, is light and transparent, so it makes other influences.. specially something like Scorpio (which is a very strong, emotional sign) more visible.

I have prayed for him. I really hope he does change. I've tried to talk to him nicely but nothing changed.. Maybe it's because My Merc is in Pisces on his Moon. It's hard to drop it. I feel like I can talk him out of it..but it's an illusion, I can't.

Haha, I don't know. I don't necessarily agree with that. Everytime I post a picture in one of those "Guess my Sun/Moon/Asc" threads, at least one person always tells me I have "Cancer/Pisces" eyes, and I most definitely do not have a Cancer or Pisces Moon. It's not even a water sign.

I think a lot of water for instance can pretty much drown a fire sun. It depends on how strong that person's sun (ego) is.. But even fire suns..which tend to give the “healthiest”/strongest egos..can still be beaten up quite badly by other planets and negative aspects..

I can see that. I have an Aries Sun, but almost EVERYTHING in my chart is Water/Earth. I have an Air singleton, and one other planet in Fire. (I guess it doesn't help much that my sun is square Saturn and Neptune, does it? LOL)

Good rant.

Just a few things, maybe your uncle doesn't seem very much like a cancer because his sun is in the 12th house and its hidden, so its not realllly an evident trait of your personality.

The leo sounds like a hard person to deal with, I know a person like that, and well you really can't change a person but you can change your perspective, and the piscean is just too plain mean, hopefully they'll get better over time.

And I know one person who was a gemini sun, she was very UNLIKE one. She seemed more earthy, with her taurus stellium and capricorn stellium. She never went crazy or could enjoy herself, she would be the person in the backgrounds, she loved solitude. So all her airiness was washed down by her earthiness.

I'm another sort of example that you can't always see a person's Sun shining. I'm a Leo, Taurus Moon, Virgo Merc and Venus (blah!) and I think Asc. I guess you can easily see why I'm more "down to earth" than most Leos are, but the Virgo earthiness really seems to dominate my social persona and confidence usually. To people I just meet, I come off as very sweet, yet reserved with a little bubbliness that comes out when I am able to express myself. I feel like a Leo though in that I have to desire to speak out, make tons of friends and be in the spotlight, but I really struggle to actually be this way. Its like there's an imaginary force (I'm thinking Virgo) constantly criticizing my every move, and making me second guess myself so that I'm afraid to put myself out there like Leos are known to do.

I say that I'm like that with people I just meet, because those who know the real me, know my inner Leo intimately. For example, last weekend I went to a work Christmas party and was labeled immediately as the "reserved type" by this guy who I'd been talking to for like 15 minutes. A work friend of mine overheard him and was like "what!? are you kidding? her... reserved? hahahah!".

I think my shyness with most strangers could be caused by all the good old Virgo in my chart or by my Leo Sun/ Taurus Moon square or both.

I guess the people you mentioned were more deviant from their sign's description, but for a Leo to be very self critical and reserved, it's gotta be pretty out of the ordinary.

fire ascendant conjunct mars-yes that is true, even though I am a taurus I irritate other taurus people because I act like an aries. sag conjunct mars, but also conjunct neptune. At first I am reserved, moody, then I become fiery.

I am learning to be consistent-stay one way with certain people-reserved and focused, rather than moody.

I would really like to be close to virgos, caps, and taurus people too, so I am cultivating those friendships-listening to their stable words of wisdom-sticking around smart people.

Yes, singletons have a huge impact. A Venus singleton will be a bit domineering, like food, drink, everything to be easy, dislike arguments-no matter what the sun.

As for the Leo mentioned,I believe Leos can be a real pain in the arse or the opposite, they are rarely in the middle around me, but then I bring out the competitive nature. Leos like to be inspired but not necessarily like to dominate the field-so respect for their ideas, and beliefs is very important. A leo will be nice as long as there is equality, but it's a proud sign and like all proud people, they are watchful.

Lauren ~

Excellent perceptions, intuitions and interps as usual!! It can be really educational astro-wise to investigate the people in your family, that you're close to, to discover how the planets/signs/elements/modes express in their unique combinations. And the point of your post was a superb one!

I have a brother somewhat like your step-brother with the Pisces Moon – although mine is a Gemini with Libra Moon -- always nasty-critical, ‘spoiled’, accepting the gifts of the rabble but never giving any (that attribute sure seems like the Leo expressing in a VERY negative manner). I agree with iqhunk about the possibility of change deconstructing his world and “personality” (such as it is) at Saturn Return time. For those who stubbornly stay a negative course (consciously or unconsciously), sometimes it takes The Big Guys – Saturn, Uranus, Pluto – to visit the neighborhood and clean things up. On the other hand (I’m a Libra after all ) he may NEVER change and evolve….. and from what you wrote, it left me wondering if he was suffering from chemical/clinical depression…..

Please forgive me, but I burst out laughing when you described him as a “bonified prick” Can’t help the visuals I get I think what you wanted was “bona fide” …..

Hmmm.... well, visa vie the Pisces bloke gone astray... I've known a few Pisceans like that. Pisceans aren't nice and sweetness ready to break into tears at any second. Some can get caught up in complete fantasies or become trapped by their own lies etc... they can be real b*tches/a**holes. (No offense we all can). Wait, I've remembered something- maybe he's a "Pis -eez" as I think Linda mentioned in one Pisces chapter, swimming downstream in life as opposed to an upstream "Pie-seas".

Cool string Lauren

I’ve also met the aggressive type of Piscean soooo weird loool perhaps too much Aries in their chart?

I think also having your Moon and asc in the same sign. My sister is a Leo with Gemini Moon and asc.
She’s more Gem than Leo…altho she’s usually shy. Very quick mind, works at a crazy speed lol my Aqua Mercury can’t even keep up ( and her Merc isn’t even in air ).

Nove, I've seen your pic and you do look a bit Cancerian to me as well.. is there anything at all in your chart that could make you Cancerian? Lots of planets in water houses?

Cappyme, that's a great point about his Sun in the 12th..I'm so silly because I didn't even think of that.. Even though I posted that planets in the 12th aren't as noticeable lol.. it didn't click, about my step dad's chart, but yes.. that could definitely be another reason. It's not just hidden from everyone, it's even hidden from himself. That 12 house is pretty spooky. I only have Chiron there...hidden wounds? lol I wouldn't know I guess, since they'd be hidden and all

The Leo is extremely hard to deal with.. the only way to deal with him is basically not talk to him.. and he doesn't talk either.. so silence is best. Any conversation with him leads to someone getting hurt.

Natasha, I always get a fiery energy from your posts..and you seem attracted to fire/air men.. I think fire does play a big part for you. If I didn't know your sign, I'd prolly guess you to be an air sign with a fire moon and venus/mars in earth.

Zala, thank you..you’re very nice.. Depression isn't out of the question with him.. He's definitely suffering from something, because his behavior is very unusual.

Thanks again

I have a lot of water in my chart.
Actually, I have a lot more earth in my chart, too, though. I have my Venus, Vertex, (Pisces) Pluto (Scorpio) and Jupiter (Cancer) in water signs. Jupiter (being in Cancer) is conjunct my MC in Gemini, and I have Neptune, Uranus and Saturn in the Fourth House (All in Capricorn, too. LOL).

I have my chart ruler (Mercury) in the 8th House, too.

Great thread. I was thinking about this lately and I noticed a pattern too...put down my own observation about this (maybe some of the experts here can validate it).

A gemini with their sign ruler mercury, have their mercury in the 11th house, behave a lot like Aquas especially in the way they communicate their ideas (Mercury).

A pisces with Neptune their ruler, have neptune in the first house, behave a lot like Aries (1st house issues).

Another Gemini with mercury in the 8th, very Plutonic, interest in theology, occult, supernatural and a monastic-like life, sort of an ubran hermit!

I know there are other factors affecting the behaviour, but would you say that your sign ruler placed in a certain house would magnify these qualities in your personality? Or alter the stereotypical traits of your sign?

Anyone noticed something similar to this?

I know its self-explanatory, but a person with their sun and moon in polar signs seem to have a split personality disorder or something. If you appeal to their emotions, they act through their moon and if you appeal to their self worth and mentality they act like their sun. They tend to create their own problems a lot because of this and they're always on the fence about what they want in life.

As a Pisces I have Neptune in Sag in the First House along with my Scorpio Moon, and of course the Scorpio Ascendant in the mix.

I am known to be very aggressive a lot of the time, with a sense of justice though. Guess its true.

Peri...interesting you say that. My mother is a Cancer sun but thats the only Cancer in her chart but her MC is Cancer...she has tons of Aires but she appears a complete cancer (she says its because shes old...not sure what that means lol). I always wondered if the MC affects sun sign. So if the MC conjuncts the Sun or even the same sign as the Sun, does that make one appear, outwardly, their sun more???

I am very Piscean for a Scorpio with my Moon in Pisces and numerous Neptune aspects that also include declinations. I have a history of both strong negative and strong positive Pisces traits...especially as a child. My mother told me that I remind her so much of my father. He had very Piscean type of personality too,and he had Moon in Pisces like me with his Neptune stationary Retrograde. I even guessed his moonsign was Pisces. he had positive traits of Pisces like being accepting of others, unusually goodnatured, believed in Unity,Universal Love. He had negative Pisces traits like a shyness/insecurity,hypersensitivity,having drug problems.

My mother has Sun in Gemini, and that's her only Gemini placement. She is so Scorpio-like with great intensity, penetration that I accurately guessed her moonsign was Scorpio only a day that I found out about my moonsign being Pisces that ended my skepticsm about Astrology at the age of 27 years old.
She also has strong Cancer traits, and she is very moody, she does have that crabby nature, she's very domestic, she's an awesome cook, and very much into the home. She also shows Piscean traits but mainly the negative ones like suffering,a sense of victimization, drug addiction, alcoholism, suicidal attempts well..She did show positive pisces traits like compassion, strong belief in higher power that keeps her alive, and she as a selfsacrificing nature. She has Sun in 12th trine Neptune.

My Aries girlfriend has very strong Scorpio traits with her Pluto conjunct Moon-Saturn in Scorpio, oppose Mars, and sesquiquadrate Ascendant. I love that intensity, depth that she has which matches mine.

I never put a super high degree focus on sunsigns when I got into Astrology because it was the moonsigns that ended my skepticism of Astrology. I never truly believed in Sunsign Astrology.

hhmmm...that was an interesting post Glaucus...I guess it depends on the individual. I feel always my sunsign. I think the description of my sun sign fits me very accurately. My moon is in the 1st and it makes me impulsive and tempermental. I was a skeptic as well when I was a teen then I read about my sign and related to it. Then suddenly my moon sign made complete sense.
Like you my ex boyfriend a Gemini with Pisces Moon seemed more Pisces. He was overly sensitive. Like your mother he showed the negative piscean traits...suicide attempt, sufferings. One of my friends told me that the moon is more prevalent to a man than a female. Not sure if this is true. But if it is than maybe thats why you feel like your moon more???

My Moon has more aspects than Sun. That could be why. I am very much like my mother...even though I never knew my father,I am very much like my father. I am very much like both my parents in regards to basic personality traits whether they are used positively and/or negatively.

aspects to my Moon in Pisces in 6th
conjunct Mars in Aquarius in 6th
square its dispositor Neptune in Sag in 3rd
square its traditional dispositor,Jupiter in Sag in 3rd
square retrograde Saturn in Gemini in 9th
trine Sun in Scorpio
quincunx Pluto in Libra in 1st
sesquiquadrate Uranus in Libra in 2nd

aspects my Sun in Scorpio in 2nd
trine Moon in Pisces in 6th
quincunx Saturn in Gemini in 9th
contraparallel Pluto

Moon and Venus are considered the anima(what type of female the male is attracted to)

My girlfriend fits the animus of my Venus in Scorpio,conjunct/parallel Mercury, square Mars, parallel Neptune, constraparallel Saturn with her Sun conjunct Mercury in Aries and Moon conjunct Saturn in Scorpio conjunct Pluto,Pisces Ascendant, stationary Neptune conjunct Midheaven and sextile Moon

That also fits with the animus of my Moon and its aspects too
Her Sun trine Jupiter, her stationary Jupiter in Sagittarius square Ascendant fits my Moon square Jupiter in Sagittarius.

*Fire Sun & Water Ascendant ... that greatly tones down the intensity of the fire. I have a stellium in Sag (including Sun) and Pisces rising ... people find me very hard to get to know and reserved.

*Fire Sun in a water house ... adds a lot of deepness to the otherwise somewhat fickle fire Sun.

*Stelliums in a sign ... I know a lot of people who are nothing like their Sun sign simply because they have an abundance of planets in a sign different from their Sun sign

*Fire Sun trine fire Moon with Moon square/opposition Saturn ... this one GREATLY tones down the fire and makes one come across rather down to earth
