Hey, you guys saw that story all over the news about that student who took off to Iraq without telling his parents? I'm wondering if he got caught up in the affects of the New Moon in Cappy over New Year's. I'd read one of the interpetations someone linked us to about the affects, and I got the strong impression that it forces us to review what's working, what's not, especially when it comes to issues of material possessions and what we need, or don't need.

Once they caught up to him, he said one of the main reasons he took off to go there was not only to see what it was really like for himself, but that he was starting to feel guilty for the material possessions and good life he had in comparison.

It was like, he really had to ground himself with the knowledge he would gain by going there himself to really see the contrast, so that he could pinpoint his own values more accurately. Watching it on TV or reading about it was not enough. He had to ground himself through firsthand observation.

I think that IS a very Capricorn New Moon thing to do. Capricorn is very much about having to see something tangible to relate to.

What do you think?

And do you have any personal experience over the New Moon as well?

For me, it was a very somber willingness to allow anyone who didn't want to "be with me" to move on IF it wasn't meant to be. A very big feeling of rebirth (which had NOTHING to do with a New Years resolution). I was thinking my experience all day yesterday and last night. When I logged on today and saw the interps BlueTopaz124 posted for the New Moon in the Houses, I was like BINGO! Transiting my 8th House :::

"New Moon in the Eighth House

This is a time of empowerment. It is a good time to focus on issues of intimacy as well as developing self-mastery skills. You may experience increased awareness of others—what makes them tick—as well as your own internal motivations during this period. It is a time when intimacy and deep levels of sharing are heightened. It is also a favorable time to start a financial plan, savings plan, take out a loan or consolidate, and do work in accounting."
