Was wondering this today (after effect of this New Moon in Capricorn) ...

Say you find someone who grew up in a family that did not really encourage them to do much with their life, but unlike their siblings, they somehow pulled themselves out of the environment and had goals to rise above it all.

Let's say, that person had some significant 10th House, Saturn or Capricorn influences which their siblings didn't have, and maybe this was what gave them their push. But they are so intent on their "unwaivering ambition" that they don't know when to stop and go with the flow.

My question - do you think it is better for such a person to keep pushing? Is it ever going to be enough? Or is it better to go with the flow as long as they are open to accepting success in any form.

Does this make sense?

Are their any astrological connections you can make here as well?

Well, if someone is driven normally its' because he or she feels a lack of direction in life, stopping and accepting would feel like giving up on the direction. It's not about getting enough, it's normally about building passion and moving along to feel alive, noticed, and motivated to get up and make other people happy.

I know a Saturn/10th house and he is very driven to teach, event though it's a laid back profession, he is serious and directed towards that goal. The rest of his life is all about laying back, going out to have fun, traveling, and drinking and eating. So he needs that motivation.

Someone who accepts opportunity sees more of it probably.

I have Pluto, Uranus, and Jupiter on the 10th but my midheaven is Virgo which isn't very driven or strong. Virgo has a tough time working without a team, or someone with a Saturn/10th house, or a Cap singleton.

I have to stay focused though or else there is no passion, but that passion has to also be fed from relationships.

So in relationships I am very go with the flow, but in work I have to be demanding.

I am very driven (Venus, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune in 6th house) and have big goals (Sun, Mercury, and mars in the 5th house), but I can get really wishywashy and lose focus at times when it comes to my goals (neptune opposition the ascendant, midheaven in pisces). But I like my chart so its all good.

Thanks.

I guess I'm wondering when someone will go too far when it comes to ambition... what the realization is, and what astrological influences make that realization in order to promote compromise in their own life.

I think I have some drive. I have big plans. If I am not reaching for a goal, I feel like a loser.

I have a Pisces midheaven (indication of my indecision at times). I have no planets in the 10th house, but I have Pluto and Mars trine midheaven and mercury, jupiter and neptune sextile it as well.

mars and pluto are in the 5th.

Astrojunkie-

I think there are some really successful high power people who just don't know when to stop. Ambition is great, but can also be daunting. Some can be too hard on themseleves and expect too much, and never, if they face defeat, get their drive back.

When I think of ambition going too far, I think of Martha Stewart. I mean, a success she is, but at what cost? Did she really need her own magazine, daily t.v show AND her own corporation?

"With great power comes great responsibility." Cliche yet true!

astro,

People who are most likely to keep "pushing" and refusing to "go with the flow" (or even "play by the rules" ) would tend to be people with Pluto (transformation, also power) conjunct (energy is combined with) their Midheaven (outer world). These people just keep pushing and pushing because in their world it is "push or get pushed". There is a LOT of power here, and these people could be most reluctant to accept or adjust to any obstacles in their way...they might just want to power right through them!

Powerfully,

Tim

You both bring up really good points. Martha Stewart IS the epitomy of what I'm trying to say. I looked at her Chart, and she DOES have her Sun, Pluto and MC ALL Conjunct in Leo. She also has her Chiron in Leo. Maybe she got her cut throat ambition confused with a need to heal others, or why I've always said she's so PATRONIZING. She's like, I'm going to show you how to dress a salad because it's for your own good!

Oh my God! The perfect specimen...

AJ, I am so glad you brought this up, because I am a Saturn in 10th and hugely ambitious. Having an Aries Sun as well makes me hugely impatient and yes, I can never relax ('cept when I'm on LL - LOL).

I'm feeling the work ethic more than ever right now: firstly because I am broke and HAVE to do something, and secondly because I feel that life is fruitless without having made my mark in the world somehow and I have to take the chance to do what I am doing NOW. Add to that my 8th House Sun - there is a lust for power somewhere in there as well. I definetely admit to that. I don't want to be a nobody - do you see what I mean? And yes, I am an only child, and yes, my parents have many times in the past made the comment that I should be achieving great things. I didn't talk to them for a while because I felt that they did not respect my profession (artist) but when I met up with them for Christmas and showed them the illustrations for a book I have written that is coming out next year, they were immensely proud and I was glad to know they were behind me at last.

hellooo

i am extremley driven, i can't stop, sometimes i wish i could go with the flow, my wife wishes i would get a "normal" job and stop trying to acheive world domination (in business) haha

my Rents were not the most encouraging nor are they now, although i'm too old to care now haha

i also lust for power, not sure why sometimes...

I also have Neptune Conjunct Midheaven ...

sooooo is it coz my Rents didn't encourage me or this Neptune Midheaven thing (which i have no idea what it means)

its a rhetorical question really...

it doesn't matter because i know i won't stop until "I have the Power"

haha He-man eat yer hear out!

g'nite all
