I've been skimming through several topics and noticed that there are several 12th house suns at LL. Being a 12th house sun, mercury, NN Cancer, I frequently feel very isolated, part of it has to do with being introspective. At times I beat myself up with negative thoughts I scare myself. Never would I treat someone like my own inner critic. Someone on another topic mentioned that 12th house suns should use the power of their true node to help out - well what if that's in the 12th house too?
I thought I'd use this space so we could shed a little light on this dark topic. What's your story?
Thanks,

Kat, I have Pisces north node in the 4th and I believe it's a dark place too. It's easy to worry, suffer, think up things to make life more complicated and put up with crap hoping it will get better. Marilyn Monroe had the node in the 12th, BUT with the right people, who are thinking positively life gets much better.

That much 12th house really benefits from a constant positive environment even if it's going to the movies, or going to work or entering a pie contest, visiting a new city, taking a bus ride, anything that is not too expensive, safe, makes you and others happy, but is not too much escaping.

Children and young people are beneficial too.
Hanging out with people who are articial or overly materialistic can be a pain.

Talk to other water north node people as I find it's a good match.

Hmmmm… I don’t have a 12th house Sun or North Node… But my 12th house is heavily occupied… I have a Moon-Neptune conjunction with the ascendant in there.

And yes, I’m usually too harsh with myself. I’m my worst enemy, as a judge and critic. An unaspected Venus-Saturn conjunction in the 8th doesn’t help at all. Yes, I also scare myself with terrible thoughts… as if I was chastising myself or getting punishment for being unworthy.

I’m still trying to figure out how to overcome that. No idea though… I’ve been told that I should try to lighten up, to avoid negative people and situations that make me feel miserable and unappropriate… Do things for myself, treat and pamper myself… Try to chase attainable objectives, things that you’d enjoy and can get…

Kat,

People with strong focuses in the 12th house naturally "blend in" with everyone around them. As a result, they can live their lives in a kind of "emotional overload" as they carry with them not only their own feelings, but also the feelings of everyone they encounter every day. As a result, it is highly useful for these people to have some "alone time", when they are by themselves and can meditate and relax. At this time they can begin to separate which are their own emotions from the emotions of others they have gathered over time. After they feel "themselves" again, then they can go back out into the world.

Encouraging "alone time",

Tim

If I don't get my "alone time" I become very irritable and cranky. My nickname is Crankface and apparently I drive the Crank-a-tank (according to my ex).

Sun, Jupiter, and Neptune stellium in 12th!!

Also, I don't know if this is a 12th house thing - I hate people looking at me. I can't stand being in front of an audience, being filmed, or having my picture taken. I'd rather be IN the audience and behind the cameras. In classes, I always sit in the back corner because I don't like people sitting behind me.

my true node's sign's in pisces but in the 11th house. i have lots of asteroids in the 12th though...and my sun, merc., venus, and jupiter are in the 12th too...so i understand...

btw, i also hate it when people stare for no reason. i heard Pluto Trine Asc.'s feel the same way too and i have that...that's also why i don't like writing papers...because it's a very intimate thing and teachers judge you...and i hate being judged or criticized...who doesn't, but it affects us pisceans strongly.

Taurus in 12th, Moon in Scorpio in 6th, Asc. in Cancer.

This sure describes me...I have Mercury in Scorpio (23 deg) and Mars cusp in Sagittarius (0 deg) in my 12th...that explains why I need so much alone time. I do get overloaded and know I am a psychic sponge (I am empathic)...when my mother and I were around each other, we're both psychic and man, talk about being on edge and picking up each others' vibes...

Thank you for putting that info out there, Tim.

Days such as today I see my 12th house as my "Shadow" self. Sigh. Usually I'm at peace with the energy, but sometimes it is overwhelming. I am too absorbing sometimes, I dwell on things/feelings way too much. My 12th house is made up of thee Sun, Mercury, and Neptune, with Mars just narrowly escaping into the 1st house cusp. I have the tendency to allow my emotions to control my moods. Especially the emotion of anger. Just a few hours ago, I got really anrgy at a person who cut me off in line at Starbucks. I was picking out my dessert, and this person just cut me off. I had to pay for my purchase from the side as this person would not move even after I said "excuse me". I didn't say anything else to her, but I was angry inside for a few hours afterward. Then I was angry for allowing myself to get anrgy for such a stupid thing.

planet,

Here is an exercise that may help you to get rid of this "internal anger". Try to focus all the anger you have in your body into a particular area: your hand. And, as you feel your hand getting "angrier" (and perhaps starting to clench up with the anger it feels), feel the REST of your body get looser and calmer. Continue until ALL the anger in your body is focused in that clenched up hand.

Then, hold onto the anger in the hand, clenching it, focusing on it, feeling its "heat". And then, gradually, let the anger go, feel the hand unclench, as you let the anger leak out of the hand, into the air, to blow away in the wind. Let the anger go gradually from the hand until the hand is completely relaxed and limp.

Now repeat the exercise, forcing all the anger in your body into your hand. Most likely, all the anger will be gone and your hand will NOT clench up! If your hand DOES clench up again, repeat the exercise again, focusing on building and then releasing the anger. See if this method helps you "get over" the unreasoning anger a little quicker next time!

Unangrily,

Tim

.. this was from a website .. have lost link adrs. ..
.. don't have the author listed ..

***** about the 12th house *****

When we choose to address through the horoscope, that which is hidden from our concious minds, the houses we examine are the 8th and 12th, along with their respective rulers Pluto and Neptune. The mysterious natures of these two houses are distinctly different. In the Plutonian depths of the 8th, the 'hidden' information is there waiting for us, layered in meaning and rich with implication.

In contrast when dealing with the 12th house and Neptune, even those of us most willing to unflinchingly face our deepest 'selves', may be unable to access the material we seek.

The implications of Neptune and the 12th are usualy more or less obscured, distorted and chimerical. the material may be availble only indirectly through dreams, life metaphor, synchronicity, cosmic revelation, or the product of the imagination. Sometimes we see the message of Neptune or the 12th contained in one's relationship to institutions, where the individual expresses facets of the 'personality' of the institution and the institution expresses facets of the individual.

In this instance there is always a danger of the individual losing him/herself within the identity of the larger body. .. i.e. the role becomes the person.

No matter what the means of connecting with 12th house material, placements here can bring added emphasis that is difficult to grasp but impossible to ignore. The 'foggy' qualities and the imaginative stimulus which Neptune brings to the activities of the house where it is placed, are equaly compelling and disorienting.

There are two things to keep in mind when analyzing planetary placements in the 12th .. (a) the unconcious nature of the 12th can cause the planetary energies to be projected, or on the other hand, those energies may not be availble as if there is a feeling as if a piece of the individual were 'missing' .. (b) untill they become concious and are thoroughly explored, these planetary energies will remain inaccessible .. though they will tend to manifest involuntarily, usualy in ways that are neither convenient nor appropriate.

The house or houses with Pisces on the cusp, or a house other than the 12th which contains Neptune, should be approached with the caveat that appearances can be deceiving. In these instances, what you see is not always what you get and this elusive quality is as disorienting to the native as it is to those with whom he or she interacts. Even when matters of the house containing Neptune are approached in the most honest and forthright manner, there is still certain to be a minimum ammount of distortion or misperception connected with the involved persons or issues. Coming to grips with the meaning of the Neptunian influence, neccessitates a multi dimensional synthesis that calls upon intuition, symbolism, and the subconcious .. as much as rational linear analysis.

Remember to that progressions, solar arcs and transits through the 12th house may bring forth buried, repressed or subconciously held characteristics or memories associated with the planet or light involved .. or may bring forward those qualities which are disowned. These may manifest through dreams, encounters with others and thru institutions with a 12th house role .. eg a Sturn transit thru the 12th may bring about confinement in a hospital or prison .. work associated with one of those .. visiting someone who is confined .. charity or volunteer involvement .. or the recovery of long forgotten memories .. to name a few.

In reading any planetary placement one must take into account the aspects and signs involved and the overall compatibility of the planetary energies in terms of the individuals personality. Especialy troublesome is the 'one of a kind' placement such as .. the only 'fixed' planet in an otherwise mutable chart .. or the only water placement in a chart emphasising air.

When a singular influence is found in the 12th it takes on enormous importance, since as often as not, the influence is experienced totaly thru manifestations of the subconcious ... and thru outer rather than inner experiences .. ( by unconcious projection of the quality .. one will often see the features in others .. or circumstances ) ..
A solo influence can be felt as almost a separate, foreign - seeming aspect of the 'self' .. causing such comments as " that's not like me at all " and " I don't know what i was thinking of when i did that " ....

After less than one day there are 17 responses! I can see that many share this issue.
PoeticHappiness - so sorry to hear about your ex. Suicide is one of the unfortunate occurences that many 12th housers consider and that scares me. Hopefully if any of you reading this are considering this you'll get help. I think the mind games we play with ourselves can be so destructive when there is another option we overlook.
12th housers can be very good as metaphysics and seeing the spiritual side of themselves and life.
sthenri - I hear ya those are good suggestions. My problem is that I frequently use those alternatives as a way to escape (Pisces moon)
Planet_Soul - I think some of the anger issues also stem from having mars narrowly escaping into the 1st house. Mars in the 1st house is classic for people with tempers but also could be the spark of being passionate about something of interest.

At times I think being a 12th houser is like that scene in WHEN DREAMS MAY COME when the wife is in the afterlife "hell" and cannot see anything else but her pain until the Robin Williams character puts himself into danger by staying with her in "hell". She then see clearly and is snapped out of her illusions.

My chart ruler is one of the planets which sit in the 12th house....yeah. If you count asteriods and nodes, I have just as many planets in the 8th house too. Wow, that explains alot of things.

Planet Soul, I can relate to the scenario at Starbucks.

And my condolences to you Poetic, thats so sad to hear, I only hope that he isn't suffering anymore.
