Okay, I have an empty 8th, but a stellium of Sun, Jupiter and Neptune in the 12th with Neptune closest to my Asc. And then, Venus Saturn and Pluto in Scorpio, so maybe that can account for my interest in occult. I've always been fascinated by occult and astrology and witchcraft. Actuallly, I work in a metaphysical bookstore now, so it's a part of my everyday life much more than it used to be. I love that! IP: Logged |

Red,You asked: quote: I'm wondering now about which aspects could indicate an attraction for occult stuff, astrology, numerology, tarot, etc.I've read that the 8th and 12th house can indcate this (specially with a planet in it)- A prominent Neptune or Uranus also??
You bring up an interesting question. Perhaps it will help to take a look at the "core focuses" of 8th, 11th (Uranus rules 11th) and 12th houses: 8th - transformation, also occult (literally "hidden") 11th - friends, also other people's self-expression 12th - spirituality Although these houses have different focuses, the studies you mentioned (i.e., occult stuff, astrology, numerology, tarot) all have a certain "attraction" for each focus. For 8th house focused people (people with planets in the 8th house), the fascination is with the occult/hidden/secret part of these studies For 11th house focused people (people with planets in the 11th house) it is the ability to use these studies help others and perhaps to make new friends in doing so For 12th house focused people (people with planets in the 12th house) it is the spiritual side of these studies, which reminds us how much in common we each have with each other Now add to this that Pluto rules 8th house, Uranus rules 11th house, and Neptune rules 12th house and you can see that people who have a prominent Pluto, Uranus, and Neptune may also be interested in these things as well! I have an active 8th House (occupied by 2 singletons) and I have Neptune in 11th House as the focal point of my double T-Squares.As far as I can remember, I've always been interested in metaphysics, parapsychology, astrology and the likes. ------------------ 3rd Decan Scorpio Sun, 1st Decan Aries Moon, 1st/2nd Decan Aquarius Rising IP: Logged |

Red,You said: quote: how do I know which is the most prominent planet in my chart?? (is it the ruler of the asc?- is a planet conj my MC?, the ruler of my sun? or the planet that make the most aspects?
This is the BIG question for many astrologers. My method is to look at the chart in terms of "keywords" and to see which "keywords" show up more than others (for more about "keywords" see Step 5 of my astrological website link below). So I suggest looking at the entire chart for patterns and these patterns will show where the energies of your chart "connect in" with you! General guideline 4 prominence:-conjunct an angle, esp ASC or MC, tho the others are just as valid -making many aspects, esp to personal planets [sun, moon, merc, venus, mars] -in it's "home" sign, example: sun in leo, moon in cancer, mercury in gemini or virgo, venus in libra or taurus, mars in aries (scorpio), jupiter in sagittarius (pisces), saturn in capricorn, etc. also if a planet is in a sign of exaltation, example: sun in aries -involved in the closest aspect in the chart, example: moon conj neptune w/an applying orb of 00'29" this rule can also be used to evaluate the strongest "tone" of a natal or synastry chart.. meaning that the closest aspect, esp applying, will assert itself over the course of the life of a person or of a relationship There are factors that Im sure others viewing this will post. The general idea tho is for one single planet to be showing up with consistency when looking @ these guidelines. Not uncommon for there to be more than 1 fitting many guidelines. Again, look to the strongest aspect in the chart if undecided and that will more often than not show one of the 2 or 3 planets that you are considering. It is also not uncommon for one or more "themes" to be running through a chart. For example: Moon square to Neptune, Neptune in the 4th house conjunct the IC [Nadir], and Moon in Pisces. All of these relate to a combined Cancer/Moon/4th house & Neptune/Pisces/12th house dynamic and it's likely that either Neptune or the Moon in this person's chart will be of definite prominence. This of course would take some mulling over of the chart before it came into proper view. IP: Logged |

I have Sun and Venus conjunct in my 12th, Neptune in my 11th(and also conjunct my moon), and Mars, Saturn and Pluto in my 8th(Saturn conjunct Pluto). I can say that the occult consumes my mind more than anything. IP: Logged |

I think the 11th house is a bit underestimated; apart form societies, friends and dreams, it is also the house of universal/collective consciousness (ruled by Uranus).the 4th house is the house of collective unconsciousness, self-awareness and self-understanding the 12th house is a deep well connecting our personal consciousness with the collective unconsciousness. the 8th house the house of transitions and unusual states of consciousness where our spirituality grows and expands in new directions. the 9th house is our way to God IP: Logged |

Hi Red, Chart ruler is usually referring to the ruler of your ASC, which would be Uranus. This gives the planet extra importance in your chart, more so than most because this outer planet is "personalized" for you. And yea w/learning more, taking the time etc youll fig a lot of it out. Tho keep in mind most people, even the ones here, who do know a lot are very subjective when looking @ their charts so its helpful to get someone else w. an objective pov to check it out as well,IP: Logged |

can't stop clapping. Yes! two for Peri and Tim That was exelent thought I just had strange friends (Neptune 11) wasn't even associating it with "universal/collective consciousness" but a good point with Uranus ruling.

I am attracted to all those things too! Astrology, occult, energy work, tarot, crystals, magick, different religions, strange people etc etc... This has made me think of a quote from one of my favorite movies, BeetleJuice. Said by the daughter, Lydia Dietz: "Living people ignore the strange and unusual. I myself am ...strange and unusual."I pin most of this on my 8th house Aqua Moon. I also have S Node & Chiron in my 11th, and Jupiter in my 12th. Sun conjunct Pluto in my 4th. Also, my chart ruler, Mercury, is in my 4th, which is also an earth singleton! ------------------ `Who are you?' said the Caterpillar. This was not an encouraging opening for a conversation. Alice replied, rather shyly, `I--I hardly know, sir, just at present-- at least I know who I WAS when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then.' ~Lewis Carroll :::Libra Sun / 29* Gemini Rising / Aquarius Moon::: IP: Logged |

Peri,Excellent points! Also, another way to think about your point about the 12th house: quote: the 12th house is a deep well connecting our personal consciousness with the collective unconsciousness
is to think of the 12th house as the house of the SUBconscious. Subconsciously, Tim IP: Logged |
