Yang - thats a little irresponsible to throw such a condition around with little evidence. I'm sure you meant no harm....I have a Scorpio Moon and that is almost synonymous with such moods. Lots of factors could be involved. Usually, it is the subconscious kicking up a stink because it isn't being heard. Look inside yourself, ask the right questions, listen to your intuition and your heart. They are trying to tell you something.... Swerve

Hi there Red:In all truth, before I would look to your present lifestyle before I looked to astrology for the root cause of mood swings. I'm a water sign (Cancer) with very few negative aspects against my sun or moon (Taurus) yet I've there have been times in my life where I’ve had my share of mood swings. The things I've identified that contributed to my emotional changes: First and foremost, medication. This one is the most easily overlooked, but any form of medication, especially hormone supplementing meds like Birth Control can have a PROFOUND effect on your emotions. I just went through an experience with a particular brand of BC that gave me some of the worst mood swings I've had in my life. I'd wake up grumpy and crying half the time and randomly get mad at people I was close to. It was horrid. I’ve also experience mood swings during stressful periods of my life. I had a job two years ago that became very stressful. They were laying people off and pushing the ones that remained to the point of exhaustion. I ended up so stressed out that I experienced both physiological and physiological stress. You really don’t know how powerful stress is until you’ve experienced. I had more health issues during that period that I’ve had in my entire life. I’d wake up every other week totally sick to my stomach and throwing up. I grew very discouraged and moody. So look to your life style before you look to astrology for the cause of your moodiness. How is your home and work life? Are you taking any medication that might be contributing to your moods right now? Once you’ve dealt with your life style you might want to look for Saturn or Pluto transits in your horoscope. If you are approaching 30 or 60 perhaps you are going through your Saturn return which can be a rather painful time. Saturn, the organizer tends to strip away illusions and points out limitations, allowing you to view yourself in a harsh, often unflattering light. At the same time, it endows you with prudence, practicality, and the perseverance to work hard toward achieving your purposes. Pluto of course is the planet of transformation. If you are going through some serious Pluto transit it’s possible that your life is changing in a dynamic fashion. Change is rarely easy for people so it could be contributing to some melancholy or moodiness on your part. I hope this helps! Hang in there, Red. Keep your chin up and remember that life is full of mountains and valleys. No valley lasts forever. Before you know it you’ll be back on the mountain top, breathing in the fresh air.

Hi Red, and indeed everyone! (newbie here My sympathies/empathies... being a Cancer Rising, and with Saturn in the first, i'm a bit prone to mood swings myself (tho they seem to be disappearing as i get older -woo-hoo!!). But yes - medication.. birth control - nothing's ever made me feel so listless and grumpy. And the scary thing is, i didn't even realise how much it was affecting me til i came off it after quite a few years. It was like getting myself back again! So i second Isolaede in saying look to that first. Also, it might help you to have a think about what triggers your moods - you might find there's a particular thing that seems to kick them off. Once you can isolate that thing and get to grips with your train of thought/feelings, you might free yourself of them a little bit and realise that, really, what you're down about it quite insignificant, but just wrapped up and tangled in with lots of other issues, making it look a bigger deal than it is. (Wow! That was a really unnecessarily long sentence. Minus-grammar-points for me!) It's all a bit heavy on the self-analysis side of things, and sometimes you just end up back where you started - but it's slowly and gradually helped me reduce my funks to nearly nothing!(maybe the getting older and feeling that there simply isn't time for them has helped too) Hope you feel better soon. Yang -???????????????? redbubblesbleed -
Your query is not so complicated. Especially since your question clearly asks "what are the indicators in a birth chart". I'm sure you'll get more responses that are customized for you. In the meanwhile, I'm sure that Square's to the Moon are a challenge. Simply having a Water Moon doesn't mean the mood swings are really pronounced, but certainly, makes one moodier in the short-term. And I always see Oppositions between the Moon & Saturn, or Cancer & Capricorn, or the 4th House & 10th House as creating melancholy - which can sometimes be translated as "mood swings". A Saturn in Scorpio can make one so ambitious and eager to get their way, IT TOO can seem like a mood swing to others. And there's stuff which can make someone want to be both social AND private, just at different times. You'll get out there and mingle with the best of them, but then you need your private time. And those who have little tolerance for your time off may see THAT as mood swings. Be careful that you are not allowing what others seem to think of you to color what you know of yourself, and that will help. I'm sure there are many shades of intensity when it comes to this topic. ------------------ ... it's better to light a candle than curse the darkness IP: Logged |

Sometimes I think I have PMDD or atypical depression. Here's a link for more info: http://www.healthyplace.com/communities/depression/types.asp I would be careful on reading those things, however. I took a few psych classes, so I know how easy it is to get psych students' syndrome; easy to think that I have every abnormality in the book. LOL. A few things I would recommend doing is keeping a journal. Keep track of every food that you eat and how you feel afterwards. Food can effect your emotions and how you feel physically as well. Also keep track of how you feel before and after your cycles. It could be entirely hormonal. I really would like to know how a chart might influence how one handles these rocky emotions, however. Oh, and try reading up on mind tantra. There's a great book called Tantra: The Path of Ecstacy http://tinyurl.com/bt8ah It's not about sex! LOL. It has a lot in it about acceptin the world as it is, which I know I have a hard time dealing with, being an idealist and all. But stuff like this, and prayer and/or meditation really help. Give yourself a moment in the day to clear your head. God, I feel so pretentious right now. I'm sorry. IP: Logged |

And you're 21 too. I'm 24. It's a point in our life where we see that all of the promises we thought the world held aren't so much so. We figure if we're just good enough to people and if we learn enough in school, things will be ok. We grow to find that many people around us have values far different than our own, etc., etc. and it's frustrating.Really, I know now that the only things I can have faith in is my gods, my parents, myself and time. Even then, all things are quite capable of letting me down, even if unintentionally. I'm actually quite ok with the idea most of the time. It's scary at first but having a fullfilling life isn't out of reach. QWe all have to find our own path down the road and sometimes it's the path less taken. Meditation is hard. I won't lie. It is. Like anything though, you have to start off small and gradually work more with it. And there's different ways to go about it. You can focus on a burning candle, your breath, play some relaxing music, burn some incense. I should really take my own advice because I'm avoiding it myself. LOL. I do find that if you take an amount of time to *not* think about anything, it gives your mind a well needed break. I also know an exercise I can email you if you want. IP: Logged |

Just cheat and try hypnosis then. You can find lots of stuff out there, you can train your mind to relax and then meditation comes easier and you can do it "for real".Its invaluable, and I have noticed, becoming much more popular with the masses. I think we are on the brink of a massive spiritual revolution. All the materialistic aspects of the world are reaching a climax, soon the wave will come crashing down and a new age will dawn. Trust me on this. Very important times for humanity we are involved in. Swerve IP: Logged |

I’m similar to what you described in your first post. My Moon is opp my Sun.My fish Sun skips around all day picking flowers and singing with birds - once my Moon notices…it comes along like a dark cloud to b1tchslap my helpless unsuspecting Sun By then temp depression sets in…but after a bit I’m normal again…skipping through the woods, avoiding my Moon Happy days Actually, I’m most content when pleasing both my Sun and Moon. Just thought I’d share You know, while reading through your posts I realised we’re very similar. “I guess I'm very good at hiding my real feelings!!- and I can't talk about them with anyone that knows me (friends, family, boyfriend, psychologists, etc). I don't want them to worry about me, I need to show them "I'm strong"- yet at the same time, inside me, there's this creature desperately screaming for help.” My lord, it’s like I wrote that…I have the same exact problem. Don’t want to depress anyone else, so I try to forget about it. It’s hard, and it hurts. Do you meditate often? It really helps if you don’t talk to anyone about your problems. But I would definitely suggest you talk to someone you trust, it can make a huge difference. IP: Logged |

Nope, self-hypnosis means relaxing the conscious mind and allowing the unconscious mind to become open. You wouldn't be controlled by anything at any point. Give it a go.Yes, I do think we will live to see it. Look at what you see on the news and in life in general and see if you notice any patterns from the larger perspective. Swerve Swerve

Red My Sun and Moon are opp by sign only, but I still feel it
“You said that you are most content when pleasing both Sun and Moon, how do you do that?-” As long as I’m doing what I should be doing and enjoying it at the same time…I’m good so long as that nagging voice at the back of my head is pleased lol “I'm wondering how do you handle this?” I’ve started talking to my mum a lot…she’s very compassionate and understanding. But I only talk about things I know she wont be upset about…otherwise I’ll get an “I told you so” - and no one wants to hear that >-< Music is therapy for me too I love it!! And it really does help. Also why not help those less fortunate. I don’t mean to sound cruel…but it makes you realise your life could be worse!! So it makes you appreciate things. Or why not read spiritual type books. Thirteen recommended “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle…beautiful book, and it’s helped me sooooo much. All these things helped, I hope you find something that works IP: Logged |
