Kay,

You asked:

quote:

No.

An "exact" conjunction is when two planets are 0 degrees apart from each other. However, two planets are still considered considered "conjunct" when they are a certain number of degrees apart from each other. The exact number of degrees varies from astrologer to astrologer but will most likely not be more than 10. The number of degrees a planet can be apart from each other and still in aspect to each other is called an "orb".

So, if an astrologer uses an "orb" of 8 degrees for a conjunction, if Mars and Venus in a chart are 8 degrees from each other, they are conjunct. If Mars and Venus are 9 degrees apart from each other they are NOT conjunct.

Conjunction junction,

Tim

Tim I like u, ur funny...conjunction junction...Wasn't that an old cartoon..or something? Conjunction junction what's ur function? Anyway ok so say you have Mars in Scorp @ 13 and Uran in Scorp @ 14 those would be considered conjunct right because of the 1 degree difference?

Si seniorita. Planets can even be conjunct if they are in different signs and houses!

Tim or Pixie quick question about conjunctions...

Are same house/same sign conjunctions always more powerful than different ones??

I would imagine so...just asking though...and on the same note what about Same sign conjunctions that are outside 9 degrees but in the same sign...does that carry some weight even though it's not technically a Degree conjunction?

Thanx!

Rede411 you said "Are same house/same sign conjunctions always more powerful than different ones??"

I was wondering the same thing. Someone I know has Mars conj Uranus in the 5th house both in Scorpio. This person is very very aggressive and short-tempered. I read somewhere's that if you have Mars in the 5th house either close to the cusp or conjunct Uranus or Pluto than that person suffered from childhood sexual abuse. If that is indeed true which I'm afraid to ask the person but it would be interesting to know...maybe it would explain some of that crazy behavior.

It's always a good sign you are learning astrology very quickly when you post a question and answer it in the same post! Yes, same SIGN conjunctions will more easily combine their energies (be "more powerful") than conjunctions in different signs. In my opinion, conjunctions that occur between houses are actually conjunctions in BOTH houses. So a conjunction which occurs between the 2nd and 3rd house is a conjunction focused on the 2nd AND 3rd houses. These conjunctions will tend to be "less focused" because they split their focus between two different houses.

Full disclosure: Astrodienst does NOT agree with me and insists on putting planets in one house but close to another house into the NEXT house (e.g., a planet close to the 3rd house is considered being in the 3rd house). However, Astrodienst and I are still on speaking terms...we simply don't discuss house issues when we get together!

As I mentioned, it depends on what the orb is for the conjunction. If the conjunction has a 10 degree orb, then a conjunction would be valid if it is within 9 degrees of each other. If the orb is 8 degrees for a conjunction then 2 planets 9 degrees from each other would NOT be conjunct, although the two energies would be "similar" since they share the same sign.

Housing around,

Tim

Kay,

While it is possible that a person with a Mars challenge as you described was abused, it is also possible they were NOT abused. It seems to me that too often astrology books have a tendency to look at a chart and judge a person's childhood based on their chart. This gives no credit to the person and their ability to have USED their childhood energies and overcome their challenges.

Putting aside the question of abuse, it is important for this person to use their energies in a positive, life-affirming way...to look FORWARD into the future they are building, rather than in searching the past for their childhood growing pains. However, if this person is STILL exhibiting that childhood anger in their life, then they need to deal with it NOW and face their life challenges by using this energy more positively. You might suggest they use their energy to actively (Mars) innovate (Uranus) with their creativity (5th house)...but be prepared to duck!

Looking at the present,

Tim

Hey Kay~

I've got Mars(26*Libra) conjunct Uranus(5*Scorpio) in the 5th House and I wasn't abused as a child. This placement does make me a bit short-tempered at times. Aggressive, nope! Perhaps that's cuz Mars is in Libra though. Another thing I noticed (about myself anyways) is this placement can cause unexpected angry outbursts. I think of the movie Happy Gilmore (with Adam Sandler) when Happy is miniature golfing and trying to hit the ball into the clown's mouth. He can't do it, gets all pissy, and says ' You think that's funny clown?!' then proceeds to beat the crap out of the golf course laughing clown thingy hehe. Ok. i'm not that bad, but thinking of that part (my favorite part) makes me laugh and lighten up

Hexxie -- I don't have any of those planets like you but the part was funny as heck. I love Adam Sandler. Well maybe dude wasn't abused but with that temper it would sure seem like it. Hey I just noticed we both have our moons in Aqua and suns in lib. I'm a leo rising though.

Hexxie,

You know they say that lots of people who are famous have Aquarian moon because they "appeal to the masses" as a whole. Now in Eminems case not sure if it's negative appeal or posotive as is the case with Ashley Simpson...hmmm. Personally I love Eminem, All his air signs make him a perfect lyricist, although I'd be curious to know what his rising is....

Yes great minds think alike Hex & Red. And not to toot my own horn...toot toot I am a great dresser! Sorry I do have those Leo traits. Wow I didn't know we shared the same suns and moons as EM and Ash. Well EM I don't know what to think about him marrying the old ex again...I think it has something to do with keeping the family together. One of my good friends (a guy) has lib sun and aqua moon. He always talks about being a family...even though he's a big time player, he'll never leave his girlfriend of 17 years and there 3 kids. I don't know he's wierd. But Ashlee don't know much about can't speak on her.
