Yes, to the extent that the Sign and the House which Rules it have things in common. The Sign would affect the personality of the Planet, and the House is the stage or environment it all tends to take place.

So if you have a Moon Cancer in the 3rd, your strong Cancerian emotions tend to be invested in the domain of the 3rd House. If you have Gemini Moon in the 4th House, your more objective emotions tend to be invested in the domain of the 4th House, which might not make one more emotional, but which will focus on how to fit into the expectations of the 4th House.

The Houses will alter the focus.

That's what comes to mind right now.

Salisa,

This question of sign/planet/house was confusing to me, as well. What helped was when I established an order to the astrology of sign/planet/house:
SIGN modifies PLANET focused on HOUSE

Let's take just part of that:
PLANET focused on HOUSE

The planet is the energy a person has and the house is the place where that energy is expressed in their life. So just because everyone has Venus (relationships) in their chart does NOT mean that everyone focuses on relationships. It depends on what house Venus is focused in. For example, if Venus is focused in the 11th house (friends), then having friends becomes the focus for the person.

Now let's look at the first part:
SIGN modifies PLANET

The planet's energy is changed by the sign which precedes it. In the case of a planet in the sign which rules it, the sign emphasizes the planetary energy. An example is Cancer (home, also emotions) modifying Moon (home, also emotions): the Cancer sign emphasizes the "home" qualities of the Moon. In all eleven other cases (for the 11 signs which do NOT rule any given planet) the signs change the planets energy. So Aries (being, also action) modifying Moon indicates a VERY different overall Moon energy from Cancer modifying Moon.

Keep this simple "astro-sentence" in your mind:
SIGN modifies PLANET focused on HOUSE

and you will never be confused or have any questions about how sign/planet/house works in a chart ever again! And, if you want to learn more about the "astro-sentence" take a look at Step 5 of the link below.

"Astro-sentencing",

Tim
