Hi guys

Whatever your ascendent is, would your descendent be the opposite sign, to what your asc. is?

Yang,

Yes.

And, similarly, whatever the sign of your Midheaven is your Nadir will be the opposite sign.

Agreeing,

Tim

Sweet,

The "Nadir" (sometimes labeled "IC") is the place where the right side of the chart (others) and the left side of the chart (self) come together. It is easily seen in astrological charts since it is the bottom part of the dark line which divides the chart into two parts. On Astrodienst the Nadir is labeled "IC".

The Nadir is our "innermost point" it is the area in our chart where we are at our "innermost" way of being. The sign on the cusp (edge) of the Nadir indicates who we are inwardly. With Aries (being, also action) modifying Nadir there is a deep, inner focus on how to be and what actions to take in life.

More information on the Nadir is available on Step 3 of my astrological website, linked below.

Nadirically,

Tim

Wilson,

It was once read that the eastern axis point is how you appear to the world. Would you care to comment on this?

beebuddy,

As you know, I like to keep things simple in astrology, so I only look at four points in a chart: Ascendant, Descendant, Nadir, and Midheaven. It is often said that the Midheaven is how the world sees you.

Commenting from beyond the axis,

Tim

Ascendant = self-image, I am ____
Descendant = back (can't see it) side of self-image, I am not ___

Nadir/I.C. = private image, how I am at home
Midheaven/M.C. = public image

Tim,
You said "The Nadir is our "innermost point" it is the area in our chart where we are at our "innermost" way of being. The sign on the cusp (edge) of the Nadir indicates who we are inwardly. "

My nadir/IC is my 4th house (sign of Taurus), but I have no planets there and none on the cusp of the line. Since the 4th house is the house of "Home" ... does that mean that I'm not "at home" with my innermost self?

dagnveg,

With Taurus (physical, also values, possessions) modifying your Nadir (inner world) you may have a "deep inner core" of values that you carry around with you in life, or you may have an inner sense of wanting to possess things. However, since you don't have any planets conjuncting the Nadir, your energy is not focused on this "inner world". The Nadir is still there but it is not a focus for you. The houses or points (Ascendant, Descendant, Midheaven, Nadir) where the planets are focused on in a chart are where we naturally turn our attention. With no planets touching the Nadir, you probabably don't pay much attention to your "inner world".

Focusing on lack of focus,

Tim

So I'm a lion on the inside? Watch out! I guess I don't pay attention to mine either (no planets in 3rd or 4th), which is kind of strange for an introvert I would think.

Ok so let me get this straight,

the ascendant-is first impression-like when you get introduced to someone for the very 1st time

the descendant-is how you act in intimate realationships/what you look for in a partner.

the midheaven-is how the world sees you/like if im going to Wal-Mart. and everyone percieves me as my midheaven, until they meet me,which would then be my ascendant.

The IC-is how we truly are inside, but i thought the sun sign was our core or who we truly are.

right???..am i close..
