Hi, SparklingSag. How important are the houses? Depends on the astrologer. One of the really skilled ones around here (a certain Leo lady) interprets charts mostly by house. I'm sure she'd have something intelligent to say on the subject. Just off the cuff, I'd say that a preponderance of latter-house planets indicates a relatively evolved spirit; your karmic lessons this time around are toward the end of the "curriculum". But I could be wrong. IP: Logged |

Well, the houses all correlate to signs as well, so it's like a secondary shading to the interpretation.Say the Moon in Capricorn = blue And say the 8th House = red You don't quite get a purple from the combination necessarily, but you definitely notice the pink creeping in and coloring the blue. The houses, as far as I know, shouldn't be discounted. Not on a sign level, and not on an elemental level. You may think that you're short on some element (Water, earth, air, or fire), but you have to consult the houses before really making that assessment. The Houses are in order of sign: 1st House = Aries (fire) 2nd House = Taurus (earth) 3rd House = Gemini (air) etc. IP: Logged |

Sparkling,The houses are the areas in our life. If we have energy focused in that house, these areas become important to us. With a focus of energy in 10th (duty), 11th (friends), and 12th (spirituality), on some level being responsible, being "friends" (close but not TOO close), and developing spirituality (a sense of oneness with those around you) is important. As paras mentioned, the 10th, 11th, and 12th (and the 9th) houses are considered "Universal" houses, meaning that they focus on the areas of life which go beyond the personal issues people focus on with themselves and with each other. But the houses are only part of the astrological puzzle. It is the combination of sign/planet/house in the form SIGN modifies PLANET focused on HOUSE that is the basis of modern astrology. You can find out more about this on Step 5 of the link below. The simplest answer is that the houses show the enviromental information--who you are BECAUSE you were born at this time, place, to these parents, etc.The signs refer to who you are or would be in any time or place. So we have the real person, and the conditioned person. The point of my work is self-awareness for the client, so that s/he can understand the difference and make the best use of it. ------------------ You are a blessing and you are blessed. Rev. SS ~I like to think of the houses as the different fields of Life Experience..... One of the best books I have on house interps is "The Twelve Houses" by Howard Sasportas, it may be available in your local library, and there are countless used copies available at amazon.com or barnesandnoble.com..... Here's a good quickie chart: http://www.astrology-numerology.com/housesummary.html 'Zala IP: Logged | |
