What are some of the reasons that motivate you to go on in life? Everyone has a reason to live, something that keeps them going, that inspires them. Mine was always to make my mom proud, graduate from college, find a nice guy and settle down. Not make the same mistakes that my mother made, and just have a happy life. Being nineteen, most people don't understand this perspective, because most people that are my age I suppose are just coming into their own perhaps... anyways, what would you do if all of the things you lived for were sabotaged? What do you do? & what is it that YOU live for?

Reason to live.....

Hmmm... I find myself wanting to answer this yet not finding words or categories that seem to work with what I want to say...
The things you outlined are inspiring, they are goals to work towards, but speak less of what you learn on seeking to complete those goals.. because life is in the moments.... the learning.. so while they may inspire you to go beyond and reach forward, they are goals.. and once met, then what? Or once reformulated then what?
You won't make the same mistakes your mother made, you wil make your own, the ones that you can learn best from.
You may find yourself realligning goals and inspirations, as the ones you had are now meaningless, you lose the motivation.. a reason to live? Maybe for some it is to build a family, see the world, learn all they can, change things for the better....

This feels like it needs more headers, and sub-stories... more categories...
The ability to keep redefining and living true, to YOU, while respecting others.... hmm.

What I mean to say is what do you do if the person that you are, the person you aspire to be, the kind of life that you want, ... you can never have, it is sabotaged, and you don't have any motivation for life anymore, none. What do you do when it's like your life is no longer in your hands, you have no control over your destiny it seems, and it's hard to concentrate on anything because you feel an overhwhelming.. despair? You just really are so tired of life, and it seems like everything you lived for, is gone... (I'm in the military) and as time goes on, it just seems to get more pointless.

My reason is to make a good opening for the next life and pay off whatever residual Karma that caused the oppression that i had put upon me in this.

There's no way off the ride. There's every reason right there.

Another reason is to try and help awareness about animal welfare and to in some way relieve the suffering of them at the hands of human scum.

One way to think of it is, what if your circumstances were different? For example, what if something happened to you which put you in a wheelchair for 3 years. Your reasons to live would alter drastically.

So in many ways, it is all relative.

If you need to find a higher reason to live, think about how much pressure you are really putting on yourself. Are you expected to take on too much by yourself? Are you open to other viewpoints from people you trust? Have you found anything you can give your WHOLE to which won't engulf you in the process?

SS ~

(Hope this isn’t a Scorpios Only thread )
Pretty broad topic, as Scorpio Pix said perhaps needs more categories, to refine/define it a bit…..

Reasons to Live?
To learn all you can, about yourself and other entities (human and non) and this dimension the physical vehicle is inhabiting in this space in time.
To learn to give and receive Love, for yourself and others.
To lend others a helping hand along the road.
To “compete” with only oneSelf and not others, as in, how can I be a better person, as defined by my own values. Can I do better than I did last time I did (whatever)?
To learn what it takes to be happy inside your own skin.

And, what to do if all the things I lived for were “sabotaged”??
I don’t know if anything in the above list could be “sabotaged”…..
I’ve “sabotaged” important parts of my own life, in my ignorance and unwillingness to face truths I knew were valid. But I learned from those situations and went on, being an Incurable Optimist I didn’t stay stuck in the past, clinging to and living over and over again the fun times I had that had ended. And learning from “sabotage” (self or otherwise) is a conscious choice. Reflecting on what went wrong or how something could have been done better takes unflinching courage and the willingness to take out your feelings and examine them with loving detachment. And if possible, amends need to be made somehow – or face the fact that karma will balance out eventually, or, what goes around comes around…...

Are you OK, SS? Has something happened to shake your world and make you feel unfulfilled with the “reasons to live” that you had? Do you have a goal right now? Has the "person you aspired to be" changed radicallly recently?

‘Zala

**Edited**

SS, why is the kind of life that you want ... you can never have, it is sabotaged ?? Why can you never be/have what you dream??

Ohhh, good question.

The simple things cup of tea, something good on tv, making music, making love (haha well I presume so anyway!), making funny faces 'taking a sad song and making it better'... realising you have one more day, putting things in perspective, being horny, being loved, loving, projecting horniness, dancing, singing, singing along, tickling someone who giggles a lot, making yourself and someone else simultaneously happy, understanding someone, finishing things, starting things, making things, baking things, watching musicals, getting yourself un-lost, picnics, putting that top with those jeans and making it work, making people laugh and occasionally feeling satisfied with life.

being with my family, helping people (touching there hearts, being touched by them), experienceing real life, to feel....to learn about myself, people in general and why i'm here (all the life questions and what i can do while i'm here). number one reason i live is because i love people esp. my family too much. and i want, to master myself...

Savage Scorpio..
I received this article today in my email, from my yoga teacher.
I started reading it, really identified, and thought you could use it too, even if you don't practice Yoga, the basic tennants of it are really moving, and make a lot of sense..
I thought of you, so I am passing it on.

It's called 'stuck in a rut' http://www.yogajournal.com/views/1318_1.cfm

I understand how you feel..Stuck and might want to do what you really want to do.
I would suggest be happy where you are maybe you are helping someone,teaching or learning life lesson. I have learnt that there is a different kind of happiness in
fulfilling others dreams.

Reasons To Live for me when I am sad or face some diffiulties.....

A Hope that there would be a tomorrow and
sorrows would pass away.I would fulfill my dream one-day or other.

A Strength which says that to die and to run away from here would be foolishness.

A Faith in God that he would take me out of this and I would be rewarded for my efforts.

A Belief that I am going through a life-cycle of happiness to sorrow, day and night. I need to experience them to be a better and stronger person.

Love from family,friends and world.

Curiosity to learn life lessons and my inner self.

Something which inspired me lately which I got as a Forward I would like to share.

...Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;

...Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;

...Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;

...Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;

...Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;

...Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;

...Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
...Give the world the best you've got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God;
It was never between you and them anyway .

First and foremost, I am very happy that you posted this because I feel you are nearing what is called the "Threshold of Frustration". Once this threshold is crossed, many youngsters unfortunately try to drown the sorrow in drink, drugs or worse contemplate suicide.

Let me offer some suggestions in taking control of your life along with great reasons to keep living no matter what.

1. First assess your self worth.
The cost of developing a cyborg with the intricacy of a human being is approxiately
50 billion dollars in terms of man hours needed to research, develop algorithms, time spent on perfecting and so on. Since you exist only in your body this incarnation, your physical body is worth 50 billion dollars to the Universe.

When you assist any human being in any way, God sees it as if "She is serving a 50 billion dollar entity. How much Spiritual Fees do I assign her?"
As a Libra mooner, I would bill God about 0.1% machine cost per service ie 5 million$ worth of Spiritual Cash per service.

In a convoluted way of thinking, to pay back God for the genius of designing a human being, you can decide to assist 1000 human beings in any way you like until retirement.

Either way, serving self and others is so valuable, it makes you infintely priceless to be living, breathing and thinking.

2. Corollary of last line of Point 1: If you can think independently, you are very much in control of your life. Does any one come in the way of your fantasies? From your Higher Self's viewpoint, fantasy and reality are very similar. Whatever you fantasize, you can live it after physical clotheshedding in the Astral and Mental planes. The deal is that the Higher Self unzips these clothes, not you. So if you can fantasize, you have a perfect reason to live.

3. If one aspiration does not work out, it means you HAVE TO CHANGE the goals. Leave the military. Join an NGO. Become a teacher for a change. Maybe an entrprenur to teach miliatry skills to girl scouts along with Zen buddhism so that they are always free from fear of assault?

4. Identify the best talent and try to be a Roger Federer in that field. In a decade, you can be a celebrity in that field. YOu may attract a similar specialist as your chesished husband and then Goal 1 will also be fulfilled as a bonus gift

5. Have you ever had a multiple orgasm in parallel? CLitoris + GSPot + Vagina one after the other for 4-5 times the normal duration? It is possible and very likely for girls in late thirties to early forties.
It is unfair to miss out on a 100-200 of these sensations, and more unfair to not initiate a lot of younger girls into this secret as a lovely agony aunt for the rest of your life. It addds 5 trillion$ worth of service to your spiritual account

If those 5 were not enough, tell me, I will think of more reasons

PS. If you wrote in this string the very question that you asked, it means you are on your way to taking total control of your life path.

Nope! But then again, I love living so much, I actually decided to try out the immortality techniques in Star Signs!
Quality of life is definitely getting better after that. Maybe it is just the vitamin C

But, on the whole, Points 1 to 4 that I wrote, those are variations from occasional depressive states of my own for whatever silly reasons. My hobby became weight training and touch wood, I now have the amateur world record for the one arm standing clean and press [88 pounds, prev is 85 pounds for my weight category of 200 pounds, source www.oddlifts.com]
A difficult goal really does make a stupendous difference. I could not even manage 25 pounds 3 years back!
New goal is to beat 300 pounder Mike Ricker's 120 pounds without my body weight exceeding 220 pounds.

Point 5 is for depressed/over philosophical young babes. I am not going to write the guy version of Point 5 for fear of being boycotted by 99% of this forum populace

"Mine was always to make my mom proud, graduate from college. Not make the same mistakes that my mother made, and just have a happy life."-

all these were my ideas of going on with life as well..... but yes it does get pointless many, many... times.
very honestly these are the same questions in my mind, some times i think that myself and all the people around me are just waiting for death and to make this wait more intresting v are getting busy in diffrent activities!!
it is really true that this world is like a game, everything around u is like an illusion it holds no real value, even us like today v r here and then who knows when v r gone!
all this makes me feel what am i going on for??.... or where is this all taking me? where am i going to end up?....it is really confusing ...more like God has put us in a crystal maze and i am stuck trying to find my way around, i dont even know which way am i looking for!! ..
well i guess no matter how boring or meaningless this game is, v have to play untill the game is over.

i have truely made my mom my decision to go on with life after her i guess i would adopt an orphan to atleast give him/her a good life.

ps: iqhunk ur post is very intresting!

"Seem?" Sure. Is that really what is happening, though? Not usually. Generally life throws some difficult things your way, and you may panic or not know what to do, but somehow miraculously things just work out. I don't believe there's anyone for which this is not true.

The best analogy I've heard is comparing life to a never ending roller coaster. There are some scary drops, but you never stay low for too long. Things ALWAYS get better. It just takes that little bit of faith, and you can get through anything.

Hey Miss Savagae Scorp~

Hey sweetie...wouldja like to share whats really going on? You're 19, in the military, school (UCD?).......are you having regrets about enlisting? Do you feel your life is out of your control?

Well, just know that you are not alone. You are going through major transitions in your life, graduating High School, on to college, enlisting....I am sure you are making your mother proud. The next couple years will fly by (although it probably doesn't seem like it!!)

I say, get in your car, head up 50 and go play in the snow!!! It is beautiful outside!
I live on outskirts of Sac....and man did we ever get the snow Fri night!! whoo hoo

I don’t know. I have things to do…so I do them. Not much of a reason really ummm…I keep telling myself that something incredibly amazing will happen in the future. Whether or not it does makes no difference. Hope keeps me going.

Could be a Jupiter thing.
