a number of picture of attractive females were selected from a pool. as a bonus the sun sign of the women was given with the picture, but was investigated after selection.

examine this distribution:

libra: 5
gemini: 2
aquarius: 4

cancer:4
pisces: 6
scorpio: 5

aries:7
sagittarius:7
leo:6

capricorn:1
virgo:1
taurus:1

what kind of inferences might be drawn from this ?

------------------
Lib: Venus(8), Pluto(8), Moon(9), Mars(9), Uranus(9)
Sco. Sun(10)
Sag: Mercury(11), Neptune(11)
Cap: Jupiter(12), Ascendant, N. Node

I don't quite understand how this works. What do the numbers signify next to each sign? Is it how many of each sign was referred to as attractive?

I think so LeoSweetheart. If i am not mistaken, the most attractive of the AIR is libra, of the Water is Pisces, then the Aries and Sag tie together and all earth are equal.

But the sign is not enough Libranscorp although we do know Libras rank quite high with all placements, Asc., Venus and Moon signs are all important in explaining certain attributes!

Also I think the fact that the sign was written on the PIC is a programming method, because some signs are "stereotypically" popular and sweet on the ears like Libra and Pisces while others are a bit intimidating for other people (Scorp) and some others are neutral like most Earth.

i'm sorry for making it seem so cryptic. it's really simple. i'm on the dating website match.com, and i basically went "flower picking" through the profiles of women in my geographical area. then i went back and noted the sun-sign associated with each and saw that there was a statistical outlier in Earth . i though it was interesting that there were so few Earth signs among my choices.

even so, i'm interested in kinds of inferences that might be drawn from a "study" like this. astrologers have already posited that zodiacs have influence over physical and facial characteristics. unfortunately, this is all the data that i was provided.

I can only think that on Average Fire Sign and Water Signs pics are photogenic. They can express some emotions in pics. They should be models.
I always thought Aquas were photgenic. well never mind me.... I am just passing by...

Not sure that it says anything at all except what you personally find attractive. For example if I were a guy I would be more likely to find Angelina Jolie hot than say Paris Hilton. And I am never turned on by men who are blond and blue eyed. The men actually have to look curious or cerebral and quiet but be sex starved and pretty fierce underneath the brains and armor.

On another front, I have to confess the sexiest guys I have ever known were Pisces, Tauruses and Aquas. I have never known any attractive sexy libra men though the few i have been acquainted are/were very charming with supreme manners (whined alot but that's a different thread).

well, as a pisces woman, thought i'd weigh in ; ) ...i know i never fit the pisces-feminine liz taylor/anais nin stereotype, however i think only about 25% do. i *think* i'm more of a mix of my sun, moon & ascendant.
if i learn someone finds me attractive (men don't fall at my feet, and i'm not drop-dead gorgeous), it is either via a cat call-type who honestly thought it wouldn't irritate me, these guys, usually coworkers that i like as people, must be reacting to whatever my Leo sends out because they seem to think they are flirting (they aren't harassing, that's a different story) or complimenting me.
the other *type* i think is a reaction to a mix of my asc & sun sign: usually by pisces men, or *quiet* sun signs, and it is almost always an intellectual/physical mix of attraction.
to me,if i learn about the attraction, it seems they are reacting to my extroverted side, but they also seem to be attracted to something in me that they perceive as able to understand and not judge (i've seemed to attract that kind of person all my life, in one form or another, even as a child).
I am constantly surprised by the variance of pisces women- i was shocked to find both cindy crawford and sharon stone were native pisces, though queen latifah did not surprise me at all. but i'm sure this variance occurs with each sign. i tend to focus on pisces, because my mother is a native, her father too, his mother, and so on. i'm especially intrigued & interested in those with any strong fire.

i'm sure somebody has already mentioned Astrofaces?

lest any one miss the point, i didn't think to review sun signs until AFTER i selected the picture.

ASTROFACES must be some site that correllates zodiacs to facial characteristics. that's more of what i was looking for.

the only thing that stands out to me is the dearth of earth signs among the group, which is fairly significant.

thanks for chiming in.

I've read a few times that it's positive aspects between the planets especially the sun and moon that makes someone good looking, and it's true because most good looking celebs have this.
I don't know why Libra's are said to be beautiful because they often aren't, and there are many good looking people born under other signs which are deemed unattractive like Virgo and Scorpio.
Examples Beyonce and Cameron Diaz.
Venus hardly effects our natural beauty and appearences, just love and possibly fashion.

I don't think that Virgos and Scorpios are deemed as unattractive. I think scorpio risings are the most attractive rising sign, although libra and sagittarius rising are up there too. I've also met some very attractive virgo sun and moon people before.

hmmmm...

Ok, well, I think that since the Libra, and Pisces have so much more a softer look, in facial structure, that may have something to do with it.

I remember back in college, that my friends always wanted to have me french braid their hair, we'd all gone on a hike one day, and everyone of us gals (4 of us) had our hair french braided.
One of the guys (a Cappy), was making comments to his aunt of the same age as us, and he kept telling her, not to wear her hair like that any more, that it did nothing for her (Saggy, stunningly attractive woman), and then he went on with the rest of us. (Capricorn, beautiful), (Gemini, strong features) He told them the same as well, that the hair do was fine for working, and hiking, but not to wear it like that anywhere else, as it was not an attractive hair style, on them. Suprising me, he told them, that if someone had the soft features that I (simply Pisces) had, that it could be pulled off, and even look great.
Then he went on about the way my hair had little sprigs hanging here and there, and that softened the look as well.

Whoa, I didn't realise until now, that we were all of different elements. (never thought of it before...)

and the eyes perhaps.
Pisces are usually known for the expressive eyes.
Libra eyes seem softer to me as well, considering the Libra's I know.

And, don't they usually have softer looking lips.

Actually, another man, not your sun sign, would more than likely pick an even different set of signs, and pics, because of his perferences, don't you think?

Your right libra's and pisces seem much more soft and fair looking but not always attractive.
I've just seen some people with positive aspects between the sun and moon and it includes
Kylie, Kate Moss, Anjalina Jolie, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor to name just a few.

Still, a broader-based survey would have to be done in order for this to be valid - others may have a completely different take on attractiveness than you (as LILY said).

Also, it could mean (playing Devil's Advocate) that no self-respecting Taurus, Virgo, or Cappie save for those unattractive in conventional terms and perhaps a bit more hard-up for dates would post on Match.com

*prx* .. a broader survey .. .. good idea ..
** .. would post on Match.com**
i checked out that site today .. looked at local offerings .. odd .. many of the photos look more akin to a police suspect lineup ..

re: 'the astrology of attraction' ..
just an observation based on synastry connections .. i've found that women i consider to be highly physicaly desirable .. consistently have their natal Mars aspecting my natal Venus .. i've found no exceptions to that at all .. ..
*libranscorp* .. if the b.dates are available for those pics .. try a synastry cross reference .. the birth time .. although needed for moon/asc/mc/ houses .. is not essential to figure the other placements .. and birth place is not strictly necessary either .. .. you never know .. the results could be interesting .. ...

**Kylie, Kate Moss, Anjalina Jolie, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor**
i find none of those particulary attractive for some reason .. the may hold some attraction in the broad 'media' sense .. (neptune .. venus ?)
however Kate Winslet be a different jar of honey ...

maybe if kf's could run thru what synastry data they can find .. come to some conclusions and post the results .. .. the astrological factors of who finds what attractive in the desired gender, could then potentialy be figured .. i guess at the end of the day .. just what 'attractive' means is different on an individual basis ..

In just checked that Kate Winslet as positive aspects too,her moon is conjunct her Sun which explains why she is such a beauty, but I really think beauty is in the eye of the holder too and comes from your spirit as well as physical beauty.
I'm often attracted to boys with
Mars in Scorpio because I have my Venus in Scorpio.

On a past subject it has been claimed by some astrologists that a positive aspect between the sun and moon makes someone physically beautiful and Ive done lots of researh on this and always found it to be true, with some exceptions because beauty is in the eye of the beholder after all.
Its often said that the positive
(masculine)rising signs are good looking, yet this isnt always true has the rising sign has little effect on face and people are generally attracted to their own rising sign.
Suprisingly the good looking people are not always popular and sexy, that depends on the sign themselves, and who you find sexually attractive is mainly to with the signs Venus and Mars are in and their personality.

Years ago, I had a copy of the "Astrology" magazine, and they did a research as why some women and men are attractive to the opposite sex more than others. By this, they didn't mean the looks, but the actual aura, or the magnetism that they have, regardless of their features.
The conclusion is that women with Mars in eighth natal house had this magnetic quality. The explanation was that men for some reason project "the sexpot" quality onto them, and find them highly attractive. The most famous women in film had this position : Monroe, Garbo, Bardot, Fawcet, and several others I can't think of now. All of them were seen as being highly desirable and magnetic in their own way.
They also explained that all these different women excuded their sexuality in the manner of the sign where Mars was. Eg. Marylin Monroe (Mars in Pisces), did it in that typical Piscean, dreamy, unreal way. Greta Garbo, who had it in Aquarius, did it in the aquarian, cool, detached, icy way. I thought this was quite true.
For men, it was the opposite, Venus in the eighth was important here.
I remember this article very well, because this is the first time that I've read research like that and found it interesting. I guess, Mars, the planet of sex in the house of sex holds some water, I wonder if anyone else noticed the same?

P.S.

There is a wider list of women with Mars in the Eighth house:
Monica Belucci (she really is super hot!), Princess Diana, Brigitte Bardo, M. Monroe, Kim Basinger, Ornella Muti (a bit older of us remember her, she was stunnig when she was younger), Ava Gardner, Sophia Loren...
Needless to say, all of them were some of the most desirable and adored women that ever appeared on screen.
I don't know where all of their Mars was, but I can just imagine Mars in Scorpio or Taurus in the eihght house, I wonder which one had that (I am lazy to research it now...).

Well, that's not very nice! I wish you'd said at the start that this was just your personal choice of women as I would otherwise been very offended that there was only one of each Earth sign!

Worryingly enough, there are a scary amount of websites and organisations who have absolutely no qualms about stating the attractiveness of signs as a fact *coughcough librarising.com cough*!
I'm not one for holding grudges, but.....

earth signs are not as likely to be found on match or any dating site~ not being elitist or snobby here, but earth is more introverted and thier methods are different fire or air. do you agree?

besides, eharmony looks more comprehensive with thier psych eval. i bet you'd find more earth over there, LOL..
