i posted this in another thread that someone else started, but i was kind of afraid it would get lost, so i just started a new thread. thanks in advance for any help!

i have a question for any who can help. as you know, it is often really hard to interpret your own charts. shoot, ive studied astrology for years (though im still an amateur really) but i STILL have a hard time with my own stuff. i guess i tend to overthink things a lot. my analytical bent with a natal uranus/ac conjunction opposed mercury on the DC i suppose.

anyway, i want to post my solar return that is coming due soon. i have some problems with some of the aspect configurations...the venus/neptune conjunction in the 12th right on the cusp square the moon/jupiter conjunction in the 8th kinda scares me. i experienced a major break-up last year which nearly broke my spirit (im still struggling a little). i just dont get involved often (im nearly 35 and ive just had 2 major relationships) and this one seemed so special but it just didnt work out. this configuration looks scary, and from what ive read about ve/ne in the 12th it's not good. to top it off, this ve/ne conjunction in the 12th of the return falls right on my natal 5th cusp! gosh, that seems ominous. i cant take another year of this kind of pain. can anyone offer any insight on this return? wilsontc, maybe...any thoughts? i sure would appreciate anyone's input!

thanks so much, chrissy

chrissy,

I don't use relocated charts, but, since you have provided one, I will first interpret based on this relocated chart and then, on a Solar Return chart for your birth place.

In the relocated Solar Return chart you posted:
Sun (self-expression) is focused in the first house (being, also action, Sun in house of its exaltation, strong energy). This indicates confidence and certainty in identity this year.

Uranus (friends, also rebellion) conjunct (energy is combined with) Mercury (thinking/daily work) conjunct (energy is combined with) Ascendant (self). This indicates strong independent thought this year.

To me, this doesn't make sense, given what you are saying.

So let's look at a non-relocated Solar Return (for your birth place):
Sun (self-expression, dating) focused in the 12th house (spirituality, also confusion). Indicates a possibility in confusion of how to express themselves, perhaps involving their dating this year.

Uranus (friends, also innovation) conjunct (energy is combined with) Mercury (thinking, also detail/daily work) focused in the 12th house (spirituality, also confusion). This indicates possibility of confused independent thought, perhaps difficulty in detailed, innovative thinking this year.

To me this sounds a bit more like what you posted! For the rest of this post I will use the non-relocated chart.

Least aspected (strong energy) Pluto (transformation, also power) focused in the 9th house (expansion, also wisdom) square (energy needs to be combined with) least-aspected Sun focused in the 12th house. This indicates there is a need to take control of your spiritual self-expression through learning and sharing of learning. Since both Pluto and Sun are least aspected, it may be hard to "connect in" and be awre of your power and self-expression this year. But they are there, developing and building your spiritual knowledge.

Which brings us to your Venus-Neptune conjunction this year. With Neptune conjunct Venus (relationships), your "relationships" are outside the "earthly" realm! Any attempt to try to match up this poor, dumb earth with the heavenly relationships you are aware of will not work this year!

Instead, develop your spiritual relationships with everyone in a "friendly" way (since Venus-Neptune is focused in the 11th house (friends) ), "connecting in" with them on a casual/intimate level. And get to know who they are and relate to them on that level. This will be surprisingly easy since Jupiter (expansion, also wisdom) focused in the 7th house (relationships) squares your Neptune-Venus conjunction, indicating you KNOW these spiritual relationships this year intimately and directly.

Most of your planets are focused at the top of your chart (outer world), indicating that it is time to get out and meet the world. In addition, they are mostly in the top right of the chart, indicating that now is the time to use what you know about the outer world to grow and develop yourself this year.

Growing and developing,

Tim

thank you so much, tim!

you know, i see some merit in not relocating return charts now, after looking at the difference between the charts and seeing how the nonrelocated actually fits more with my sitch. i just had read, in i believe mary fortier shea's book on SRs that she prefers relocating, and so does celeste teal. i think i might even have another book lying around in which the author argues for relocation. so i just always relocated my returns (ive only been looking at returns for the past few years). actually, my relocated venus return for last year, the year of the breakup, was very fitting, but now ill go back and look at the nonrelocated just to see what i see.

makes sense, the nonrelocated chart is what youre born with. maybe each is valid, but for different reasons.

anyways, thank you thank you thank you!

chrissy,

Now you made me curious! So I took a look at your non-relocated Solar Return chart and instantly saw some relationship challenges:

Saturn (duty, also restriction) conjunct (energy is combined with) Moon (home, also emotions) focused in the 7th house (relationships - Saturn in house of its exaltation - very easy energy) could indicate emotional restriction that flowed easily in the relationship.

Pluto (transformation, also power) conjunct Ascendant (self) square (energy needs to be combined with) Venus (relationships) conjunct Sun (self-expression) focused in the 3rd house (thinking) could indicate personal power struggles involving self-expressive relationship thinking. With Pluto on the Ascendant there is a personal death and rebirth involving the way relationships are thought of and experienced. Personally very powerful, but a difficult experience to go through.

I, too, have heard the arguments in favor of relocating charts, but I think of it this way: we are the embodiment of the energies we had at birth and carry these energies around with us all our life. Energies by Solar Return or Transit affect those BIRTH energies, and are not affected by where we are. Otherwise all astrologers would simply move to the place in the world where they could all be as rich as Bill Gates or as talented as Mozart! However, life isn't that simple and we all have to face our challenges...no matter where we are in the world!

Relating,

Tim
