Hi Knowflakes,

I just wanted to know what you all thought of this book by Amy Keehn called "Love and War Between the Signs: Astrological Secrets to Emotional Compatibility".

It presents a verrrrrry different approach to sign compatiblity, stating earth and air are thinking signs, whereas fire and water are feeling signs. She states a relationship between a thinking and feeling sign to be a disaster, and advises us all to stay within our thinking or feeling group when searching for mates.

There's more, she looks at the number of masculine vs. feminine signs in a chart as being very important, and how many planets are on the eastern (self oriented) or western (other oriented) hemispheres as well.

I just spoke with her briefly on the phone and am interested in getting a reading with her. Does anyone have any thoughts on Amy Keehn, her book or her theories?

Please share everyone!

Silvana,

I bought this book a good while ago. I found it very good because at the time I did not know a lot on Astrology and I think it was good in that it shows examples of feeling sign mixed with a thinking sign. If one sign is over emotional, say Scorpio mixed with Gemini. Then again, the persons Birth Chart is not taken into consideration so as I now know, you could meet a Gemini with alot of water in the chart wherein said person could be more emotional rather than a thinking sign. I hope I make sense. I would not part with this book as I found it great.

Hi Ariespink,

I was a little concerned about the emphasis on sun signs too. She does describe the way other planets affect you in the first couple of chapters, but it seems her core belief is that your sun is the most important. She explained that if you were a gemini who had a lot of water in your chart (to use your example), then you would have more emotional traits, but she believes you will still fundamentally relate to others like a thinking air sign...

What do you think of her ideas on compatiblity? I'm still very uncertain how I feel, as I grew up reading that the negative/feminine signs are great matches (earth/water) and the positive/masculine signs are compatible with eachother. So with this book, she switches up those divisions, lumping fire with water and earth with air... It makes a lot of sense to me as an earth sign, as all of my long term relationships have been with air/earth, and my most dsyfunctional with fire/water. But these ideas are so different from say, Linda's Love Signs, that I'm not sure what to think!

Silvana,

I thought the book was like a starter course to me. I have looking at so many compatability charts since and she is correct in some of her assumptions. A Gemini can have alot of water in her chart making her more emotional etc., and then she could meet a Taurus who is attracted to him, due to the fact that he too has numerous water in his chart, thereby giving them better compatability for longterm future. As I say, it was good for me, in that I am a feeling sign and if I am talking to a thinking sign, who has a lot of air; then if they started a conversation, I would tend to go too much into the emotional detail and then suddenly the thinking sign cannot take too much of that. I hope I am of help. Any more questions, plese ask.

I kind of like that theory that Earth/Air and Water/Fire go together, but in practice I've seen where water and fire like each other, but can't seem to get it together romantically. Who knows?

I agree with AG. My parents were a water/Fire combo (Scorp/Leo), and they never got along because there was TOO much emotion building up. Also, my father (Scorpio) was very passive aggressive, and my mother (Leo) was very aggressive.

Also, despite the fact that Im an air sign (Gemini), there are very few air sign males that I get along with and I absolutely don't get along well with Libra suns, even if they stand on their head and dance naked for me. It just will never work. Aquas are somewhat better, but my most touching and deep relationships have been with fire sign males... I have great friendships with earth sign males as well, which border on romantic relationships, but for some reason or the other, don't quite end up there. Water on the other hand , once again I have a difficult time dealing with.

What Ive noticed with earth signs also is that despite the fact that they are more practical and rational, they may have a completely different approach to life. This was exemplified when I was talking to my best buddy Taurus guy friend and someone on a plane made a (what I would consider) offensive remark to him about his intentions of blowing up the plane , (just because he was Arab). He sat calmly and asked the person why they would think so. If I had been there I would have unloaded a verbal barrage on them with that sharp Gemini tongue. So basically even though we are both very logical and rational creatures at heart , I am also very sharp to verbalize my feelings, and be expressive, and he expresses differently. Communication is key to any relationship and sometimes communication can be a barrier between myself and earth signs (in general), whereas Fire men just intuitively 'get' me.

True compatibility reports try to unpeel every layer of the onion. One thing, for example, that I noticed is that a mans water mercury greatly helps in a relationship (With me). Despite my airy chart (air grand trine, air rising, venus chart ruler, gemini stellium), I also have moon/saturn/pluto in scorpio in 2nd house, so usually air or fire mercuries will clash with my moon and injure my feelings. For example, Ive had the best communication so far with a Taurus with taurus merc, a Gemini with taurus merc, an Aries with pisces merc, and a Leo with cancer merc.
