Hi all, Easy question (hopefully) I have a couple yods pointing at mercury in gemini in the 12th. Just wanted to find some quality info about yods, any insight here on on the web. (I'm sure there's info on this site but I didn't look that hard for it) Thanks, CheersIP: Logged |

Hey Azalaksh, I didn't mean to startle you with "a couple of yods" lol, I should have said that I have three base planets instead of two....or maybe you are still startled? I'm hoping I did the calculation right (correct me if not right), I guess I have been too lazy before to figure if I actually had a yod or not and I think I found one last night(unless it was my drunken st.patty's stuper) Here we go: Base- Mars 11Scorpio, Saturn 10Scorpio (both 5th house), Jupiter 10Capricorn 7th house cusp Top - Mercury 11Gemini 12th house The midpoint point between the bases are both around 10Sag so it's opposite to mercury. hi lynx, Yod is formed when two planets make a sextile aspect and a third planet is opposite their mid-point. That third planet must make angles of 150 degrees with the other two. If you drew lines on the chart connecting the planets, you would get a Y-shaped formation that seems to point to one part of the horoscope. The “energy” of the two planets making the sextile seems directed to the house and sign containing that third planet. http://www.bobmarksastrologer.com/TheYod15.5.htm What I found on the web =) Hope it answers your question Cheers IP: Logged |

Gem-Sag ~I've been really interested in Yods after I found out about mine..... I have an "enhanced" Yod, or a Boomerang -- that is, a planet at the "release point", or the point opposite the apex...... http://www.lunarliving.org/astrology/yod_boomerang.shtml Mine is Moon at 26 Pisces/Pluto at 24 Leo/Neptune at 23 Libra. Then throw in Mars at 22 Virgo. Point it at the 8th house, duck and cover!! Here's a few more strings on Yods from this forum: http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/004316.html http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/005767.html http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Archives/Archive-000001/HTML/20030611-9-000152.html http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/001404.html 'Z IP: Logged |

Hey Azalaksh, I've got a boomerang too! Uranus 11Sag (6th house) opposition to apex!! Looks like fun reading ahead Do you feel that the opposition to the apex helps you focus your energy/timing? esp with mars? I think Uranus opposing the apex is a funny kind of planet to focus any kind of energy lol. I'll have to give this stuff sometime to sink in and see if I can figure out this timing bit. Thanks for the help Cheers

G-S ~Focusing on Uranus, eh?!? Like trying to nail jello to a tree Your Yod is fascinating! Integrating 5th/7th house energies and pointing them at the 12th: what will you do with all this Power? You and I both have our apex planets (the nozzle for the energy) in Watery houses -- do you find that you do a lot of informal "counselling" with your friends?? I asked astrologer Kim Falconer what I should point my Finger of God at, and she replied: "Work in the occult! (That's my first response) Have you read Dion Fortune's "Moon Magic"? It was published posthumously in 1946 and to me I think Lilith Le Fey (the protagonist) had just such an aspect pattern as you describe. Of course, I'm speaking metaphorically... or am I? You need to travel the paths of the mysteries in life, research them, bring hidden meaning to the surface, bring creative change to society and in doing so, both practically and mystically, you are 'at home', comforted, nurtured. Does this make sense or does it seem too airy fairy out there? You're a mystic. How are you 'doing the work'?" As for your thought about the release-point planet helping to focus the energy, I'm not sure. Having Mars opposite Moon probably creates more energy than it dissipates 'Zala PS: I disagree with Bob Marks about the quincunx being a "minor" aspect. I have Sun quincunx Moon by less than 20' and I surely feel that one every day of my life, especially when it gets tickled by transits. Magi Astrology also considers the inconjunct a VERY important aspect..... IP: Logged |

Hello again Azalaksh, Nailing jello to a tree if the best thing I heard all week lol! I found it funny how you bring up councelling, just today I was looking at a friends chart to look at a few things. I was spotting these areas in her chart and explaining them to another friend, and what we should do about a potential situation. I actually do this often, use the bit of astrology that I know to help out family and friends. I do find it hard to explain at times, maybe that's because mercury in the 12th? oh- I'm also a Psychology major at university...i have a thing for people analyzing =p As for the book that Kim described, have you read it? If so is it worth reading? I'll have to check back at Kim's site and see what kind of info I can get. (I got a eros report from her, interesting read- especially if eros is busy in your chart)I hear ya about the Bob Marks thing and any other astrologers who do not take this into account! If there is a not so favorable transit on my mercury inconjunct mars, then the second I open my mouth I can rattle people up pretty good, without even trying!! Also, a good point from the website you gave me, how the heck are you going to know about your yods if you don't look at inconjuncts!?!?! (a bit funny since I learned about the yod from bob marks site site) I see that your yod is between 22-26 degrees, was it affected by the recent lunar eclipse? Or did moon and mars get all the attention? Thats all the thoughts I have for now, Cheers IP: Logged | |
