red,

With Saturn (duty, also career) focused in the 9th house (expansion, also travel), perhaps you would be more likely to do business trips around the world! :-)

Businessifying,

Tim

Rubblehead- we have a lot of things in common ive noticed, aqua rising, leo influences, Uranus in the 10th house(iremember you saying that).. etc...i also want a job that involves travel, im also to the extent of obessessed with traveling, ive traveled a good amount so far,
i want to be a journalist, I also have Saturn in the 9th house, not sure who told you this would restrict traveling...who told you this? im pursuing this ideal job, Ive always been obessessed with traveling, meeting new people, and changing the world for the better, i think whoever told you that is full of it..

Hi redbubblesbleed,

Like you, I have Mars and Pluto in the 9th (Pluto conjuncting the MC from there), as well as Moon and North Node. This is using Placidus – with Koch, Venus and Saturn would be added to the picture, making that house quite huge in my chart. Personally, I have always loved to travel and have been lucky to have come in touch with that area of life from a very early age. In fact, most of my earliest memories stem from the first long-distance trip I went on with my parents the summer I had just turned three, to visit relatives in Asia. It's kind of funny - this year it will have been twenty-five years since then, yet many scenes are still so vividly imprinted in my memory it might just as well have been yesterday. As far as danger is concerned while travelling, I haven't experienced any so far. (At least, as long as I'm not counting situations such as being on a boat without life jackets during a heavy storm, and waves so high most of the natives were getting sick and/or starting to pray for their lives, while to me (I was eight or nine then), it was all just a big adventure . We did arrive at our destination safely, of course. )

As for your situation, I have noticed that many texts seem to associate having Saturn in the 9th house with potential delays/dangers in relation to travels, though personally I don't think it means you will never get a chance to travel to the places you dream of seeing. Maybe the place you're studying at has some kind of study abroad program that you could apply for? That way, you could combine studying abroad with travelling, and I'm sure even Saturn in the 9th won't have any complaints if it knows you are travelling not solely for fun, but to further your education – in fact, Saturn should like that very much!

I say whether you have an active 9th house or not--- go for the traveling!!!!! I have my Jupiter and part of fortune Aries in the 9th house and Sag on my 5th house. I generally travel the US alot since I travel alone and I'm too chicken to go outside the US alone. I think world travel could be a great benefit to me I've dreamt of it my whole life. ...Now I just need to get to it, so you do the same.!

Take it from a Sag...some of the most pleasurable trips combine Business

I traveled extensively in my last position (and quite a bit now) for work. If I could swing it, I would add on a few days before or after the biz trip.

What ends up happening is you get the majority of the trip paid for (airfare or car allowance, hotel etc..) and you just add the rest. The rates are usually lower as well because you piggy back the deal with the conference rate (meaning if you have to attend a workshop and the hotel costs $85 instead of the normal $150 - you can usually get that deal another 2-3 days).

Saturn is the big teacher... let him show you how to work WITHIN the system and enjoy it (Taurus rules my 9th house LOL)

Hi red,

I know someone with a 9th house Saturn (in Pisces). He travelled the world for 10 years for business, while installing and repairing communications towers.

His Saturn is the tail of his kite pattern: opposing his Pluto/Uranus conjunction in Virgo in the 3rd, trining Jupiter in Cancer in the 12th and trining Neptune in Scorpio in the 5th. Saturn also sextiles his Aquarian Descendant.

He has Mercury in Aquarius in the 7th house of partners. So the Mercury and Uranus are in mutual reception. Capricorn rules his 6th house of work and service to others.

He has Aries on the 10th house of profession with no planets in that house. Mars in Libra is in his 4th house and inconjuncts the Saturn in the 9th house.

He never had any safety issues, while travelling for all those years.

Good luck to you, your dream and career!

Red,

I was so interested by this thread, as I myself am dreaming of traveling outside of the US in the near future but have had trouble because of financial situations. Yes, I know so many and countless books probably on how to travel within a tight budget (Funny I mention this because I picked up one the other day! :laughing . But for me, this realistically takes planning and is much easier said than done. And someone who's mainly traveled on the east coast but would like to travel afar someday myself, I resonate with Kat's statement too(I actually have an empty 9th by the way, but my ruler of the 9th is in the 12th; and like pidaua, my house is ruled by Taurus).

And I want to add to what pidaua mentioned: As someone who is trying to embrace a more positive approach to what is maligned usually as a "malefic" planet, Saturn in the 9th from another way of looking at it could mean that through your experiences traveling, you'll know what works for you in terms of places to go, people to see, places to stay in, food to eat...and what doesn't. In other words, you'll become a seasoned, sophisticated and experienced traveler!

Hey Red,

Thanks for the compliment!

You know, when you mentioned that quote of yours you'd like to say to everyone, I felt like that in the past...and that was especially because there were friends and relatives I knew who would be traveling outside of the US and I'd feel like they're so lucky because my family and I were always in a money crunch (And we still are!). I wanted to travel so badly because everyone else was doing it, so much so that I felt like shocking everyone by just doing it out of the blue when no one thought of it or thought I would do it.

But, I look back and felt I kind of pressured myself into traveling because everyone else was doing it and right now, I honestly haven't really put a lot of passion, focus and energy into doing it. I won't rule out traveling ever, but right now, my heart isn't in it and I don't want to just do it because everyone else is doing it only to look good...I have a lot of other important things right now that I'm dealing with.

Red,

I am doing OK right now...thanks for asking, I hope you are too.

If this is what your heart's desire truly is and the fact that you are taking action to save up some money now for those two years ahead, good for you! You are trying to make your dream come true!

By the way, where would you like to travel? Kat mentioned Turkey and you thought that would be fascinating. Is there anywhere else you'd like to go?

Where do you think of

Redbubblesbleed, I feel your dream to travel!!!!! I have so many desires to see the world too, yet I only have ascendant node in aquarius in the 9th house. Oh but I have mercury and neptune in saggy in the 5th house.
Until I was 32 I had only been to one country outside my own - France. I had neither the money or opportunity to travel.
In the last three years I've become addicted to travel! I've been to America twice, France again, Holland, Belgium, Austria and Czech republic and I go to Spain and Poland later this year.
Having children doesn't stop me, they love the adventure.
The world is an exciting place and I want to see so much of it. Plus you can do it so cheaply these days.

Did anyone watch the Amazing Race yesterday. I think the country was Oman I think the city was Kurat or something like that. It's south east of Saudia Arabia - absolutely breathtaking. I'd like to go there, but I think I'd have to have a big strong man to accompany me. (women in the Middle East...)

Do you have any Uranus/Aquarius/11th House influences?

I think that energy works well with pulling a Saturn in the 9th out of the sludge. I can think of a few more, but although you are concerned with that, you are also very quick to consider rebelling.

My 9th House Saturn has never made me want to do "business abroad". But the closest thing to that was wanting to study anthropology, then travel and write. But although the more detailed historical stuff was interesting, it didn't grab my passion. But understanding and learning from other cultures has always been at the forefront of my life, no matter where I am physically - and this would include mind travel as in dreams and the Internet.

Have to agree with you Kat, Prague is in my top 3 of favourite places in the world that I've been so far. An utterly beautiful place, a mixture of old and new, run-down and well-maintained. Steeped in history, full of charm and friendly people.
Anyone here been to Krakow in Poland? My hubbie and I are going in October, visitng Auschwitz too.

Plan B for Travelling:
See if there are similar places in your own country that match the countries you want to visit.

Those in America are extremely lucky in this.
Arizona, Colorado and Alaska have places akin to over 80% of European countries.

Exotic locales? Orlando has the best of the entire world packaged into one huge tourist spot.

Once you appreciate and get a feel of the energies of these locations into your Aura, somehow or the other opportunities will come to visit the actual location itself. You can visit any place that your Aura vibes with.

Europeans are quite lucky too. The railway network connects every major city. Intelligent planning will ensure that one can see the best of Switzerland, Northern Italy, Germany, Poland, Czech, Slovakia and Romania in one trip itself.
