Ok yesterday I was daydreaming and thinking about the planets nothing serious, just going through them

Sun=Leo=ego
Moon=Cancer=emotions
Mercury=Gemini=Communication
Venus=Libra=love/relationship
Mars=Aries=energy/sex
Jupiter=Sagittarius=luck/expansion( exaggeration )
Saturn=Capricorn=career/commitment

So where did karma and delays ( farther time? ) and restrictions come from?? is it inaccurate to see Saturn as career or commitment?

Has this something to do with mythology? Zeus’ father ( I think ruler of Saturn ) ate his children, but was killed by Zeus, and released his siblings. Is Saturn the disciplinary farther of the planets?

How do you look at Saturn aspects? Do you think of it as career, commitment, karma, delays etc etc
When transiting Saturn makes aspects to my natal chart I think of career…and so does astro.com

nymph,

I think of Saturn as "duty" (big picture) and all the other things you mentioned coming out of that sense of duty:
- We need to grow up, be responsible (duty) and get a job (career)
- When we want to do the "right" thing (duty) we slow down (restriction, delays) and act carefully
- When we want to get the "right" result (duty) we take the time to structure (make a commitment to) things around us
- When someone want to see if we get the "right" result (duty) they test us - sometimes Saturn's "testing" effect is referred to as a karmic experience

[However, karma is more closely related to Virgo, Mercury, 6th house (daily work), since karma literally means "action"...any action we take. So when we do our "daily work" (i.e., when we do anything) we are creating karma.]

Duty as Saturn's keyword is mentioned in Step 5 in link at bottom of post.

More about Saturn mythology here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturn_%28mythology%29

Dutifully structured,

Tim

Oooo thank you Tim

Makes a lot of sense, I see it as ( grown ups ) duty a well. Perhaps growth is the key here?
Though I don’t understand why it’s seen as a “negative” planet…except by those who don’t want to grow up

Normally Saturn is said to rule Karma cause it rules the 10th house, which supposedly means "destiny" or summat .

I'll mostly talk about the good side of saturn since I'm sure there's loads written about the bad side of it. Anyways I prefer to call Saturn as the "discipliner" , its the planets of rules, structure, discipline. It disciplines you in the sense. Your Jupiters all "I've worked so hard today Lets go play till night" Saturn would be all " Really? what do you call hard? Sorry but I don't think thats a good idea. You've homework to complete and you've a test tommorow.. Nope you're not going anywhere until you finish what you've to do". Or suppose say your friends are doing drugs and they are pressurizing you, Saturn would be like "No. No. No. No. Absolutely not, have you gone mad??" In that sense its negetive, but beneficial. Its also kind of karmicish, in the sense that if you do something bad (like take drugs or whatever or not study for your test) it'll have bad consequences and when you work hard for your test or exam, you'll get good marks, therefore good consequences.

Saturn also rules career because if you've a job or a career, you're ultimately depending on yourself, and Saturns aim is to teach you how to take care of yourself and that means not partying every single day and wasting it. And thats why its also called ruler of self-control, you've to control your urges sometimes (Ex:- You're allergic to nuts, but you feel like eating nuts badly, but shouldn't since its bad for you), which would be beneficial for you. So in this way saturn transits kind of bring about growth and maturity in character. Its like a wise old teacher.

Its bad in the way, sometimes you need to enjoy life and express yourself and not give a damn about rules and regulations, and not limit yourself.

Hope you get what I mean. My examples are mostly school related since I go to school.
