I'm looking at my composite charts and I've taken to ranking the aspects according to how tight the orb is, in an effort to sort out the fluff from the "real" stuff that is most relevant and felt day to day.I'm wondering how I should go about this? On astro.com, the orbs seem quite wide and generous. Is this because in a composite these aspects at a 5 or 10 degree orb are REALLY felt... or is this simply being generous? Also, I realise I should give precedence to certain planets in a love relationship... like the angles, Sun, Moon, Venus, Pluto... etc... So if a planet is in aspect in a wider orb than say... an exact Mercury and Neptune aspect... in a romantic relationship... should the aspect with the more "relevant" planets be counted as more significant? In terms of how the romantic relationship will play out? Hmmm. Any help, insight, etc is much appreciated. I'm most interested in the orbs. My instinct tells me they could use some tightening up for relevance, but I may be way off base on a composite chart. It's not synastry, afterall! IP: Logged |

Venus,Since the composite chart is the chart of the relationship itself, EVERY planet will somehow be "relationship-focused" in the composite chart. As a result, composite charts of a relationship can be difficult for people IN the relationship to see. Perhaps it would be useful to take a look at composite charts for relationships you know very well. This would allow you to see the relationship as a whole and understand how the energy works in the composite chart for those relationships. After you do this for many charts, this might help get you the feeling for how a composite chart works. Urging real-life testing of astrology, Tim IP: Logged |

Venus De Milo -I personally like giving much more attention to Aspects with tighter Orbs. Then, if there are wider Orbs, I can choose myself whether or not to give it credence. I'm not militant regarding Orbs, and you'll get a lot of opinions on them, such as doing things a little different for specific Aspects, but not making it a rule across the board. To me it's sort of like the odds when betting on horses. The tigher the Orb, the better the odds. If wider, you kind of cross your fingers and see what happens. ------------------ ... it's better to light a candle than curse the darkness IP: Logged |
