That time of year has come again: girls wear $300 dresses, guys expect to get laid, and everyone wants to get drunk. Yes, my fellow Knowflakes, it is Prom Season once again.

Since I'm sick of hearing about my friends melo"prama"tic stories, I'd like to hear some stories/jokes/interesting thoughts/recommendations from both the young and old.

I myself may or may not be drinking because I may or may not be driving. Remember kids: DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE! Dumb@$$e$ drive when drunk. I'm very sure you are not dumb :-). And even if you don't consider yourself intellgent, don't drive. You've been warned...

With Pisces modifying my Mars and Uranus squaring my Mercury and Venus AND conjucting my Mars, I'm thinking drinking on post Prom night and the whole weekend will not be a good idea. The atmosphere itself can almost make someone "drunk" enough to do something stupid. I'm a smart girl, but I'm also young and rebellious. This time I really can't push my limits.

Unless I'm not driving of course. If I'm riding home with my sober friends, hell, crack open the red wine!

The *day* after prom (the night before we're going on a cruise ship that goes down the Chicago river until 2:30 am which means that I'll get home at 3:30 ), my friends and I are going to the Indiana Dunes, which will be LOADS of fun. Half the group isn't camping, so we'll be going in early to swim. The rest of the group is 18, so they can camp overnight (it's not like their parents can stop them) and will come later that night. All of us are gonna meet up at the beach around 6pm and have a bbq. I'm bringing one of those quiet, emergency electrical generators with me and someone will bring a portable bbq... thing. Whoohoo!! We'll eat fried fish, chicken, whatever else while watching the sunset.

Then we'll go back to our campsite, and sing by the fire and make smores. Those of not staying overnight will leave around 10 most likely. We'll get home by 10:45 and then that's the end of the day.

I have nothing planned for our group on Sunday, yet. I'm in charge of planning post-prom stuff. I'm not too happy with a certain Leo that I told not to bring alcohol to the Dunes, but he can do whatever he wants. As long as they get drunk when the others and I are gone, I'm fine. If they get caught, it aint my fault!

HAHAHA.. I just realized I didn't even mention the actual Prom yet! You'll notice nowadays that the greatest part of Prom is the day afterwards.

My school holds Prom every year the Field Museum. It's $175 for a couples ticket, so you can imagine how much it is to rent the Museum lobby for 4 hours with 800 (avg) kids going to Prom. The theme this year is Wonderful Tonight.

My dress is not some expensive ball gown. Actually, I bought my dress for $25 two years ago (i wasn't planning on wearing to Prom of course) in Las Vegas. It's an black halter SALSA dress that goes down to the ground but has a slit on the left side that goes up to my mid-thigh. There are ruffles w/red trimming (not too ruffly though) on the neckline and the bottom/slit. I'm wearing those pointed shoes (black and white) that were popular two years ago or so. They're super cute though and give me 4 inches in height. I'm already 5'5", so I'll be 5'9" with them on.

I have no prom date. *sigh* It's a long story, but to make it short, I'll tell you this: I was expecting a friend of mine to ask me, but my friend told this other guy that I went to Homecoming with to ask me to Prom. When my friend's friend asked me to Prom, I said no because I was waiting for my other friend to ask me (I didn't tell the guy that. I just said No because we both had a really bad time at Homecoming. Just shows that he just wanted a date, not to hang out with me. Sheesh.) So, in turn, the guy I wanted to ask to Prom asked a junior to Prom because he had no other options (I apparently was on his list of "girls to consider" but when his friend didn't have a date he told him to ask me) and now he's kinda mad at me... actually he seems more sad than mad. Now he has to take a junior girl who can't really hang out with him except for the dance and I dont have a date. And I'm one of his closest friends! But that's what happens when you assume that a nice person always says Yes.

Anyways, enough of me, what about you??

I didn't have prom because I took my G.E.D. If I had any fond memories of public education, I would say that I regret not having one, but I really don't. My sister's was utter hell.

Anyway, last formal prom I had was my junior high prom. I went alone and sat with my friends. I had fun. It was rather funny because I spent most of the night dancing with the best dancer, one of my teachers. Everytime he saw me, he called me over for another dance. Finally, this one teacher snapped at me, "Where's your dance partner?" Serious WTF moment. I like senior trips more, I think.

For the drinking, all I can say is dont put yourself in a bad situation but enjoy your youth while you have it. As soon as I turned 21, I found alcohol less interesting. Once I was legal, the thrill was gone. LOL. I was always the watchful one, making sure not to lose control or let my friends get taken advantage of. I don't really know how some can get to the point where they dont remember the next day. And I'm sure you know the speech about watching your drink, so I'll spare you that. Just have fun. And tell us how it goes.

I hated my senior prom. Maybe because I amped it up so much expecting it to be this huge great thing, that when it got to that point I set myself up for disappointment.

I LOVED my dress at first, but then I hated it cuz it was really classy, and it was different but I mean. I realized I didnt pick it out my mother had because she didn't like my taste. And then I realized that I hated how I looked in it.

My hair was nice but it fell like....30 minutes after I got to prom so that made me very upset

We spent 2,000 dollars renting a stretch SUV limo thing, a HUGE one that was supposed to chauffeur us around all night and 5 minutes before they were due to pick me and my friends up, they said they were all out so we all had to squeeze into this tiny Expedition (there were 13 of us)

My digital camera ran out of charge when i GOT to prom.

My boyfriend at the time refused to go with me because he was too "good" and "mature" for that sort of thing (3 years older than me at the time).

My friend wasted her spaghetti sauce all over my dress at dinner (I refused to eat, too upset). And my dress was like a muted gold/ivory color....She wasted it on the ivory part.

The night was a disaster. My name was on the bill for the limo and prom wasnt set to be over till 11. I left prom at 8 and it started at 7:30. We bowled, I was home by 9:30. ALl of my friends took the chauffer and had a blast.

worst day of high school by far. I have to look it up astrologically, I was too distraught for a while to even remember it.

OMIGOSH!!
I am wearing a long red number with a slit for a peek of thigh showing... a demure neckline, but shoulders and decolletage bared, with a strappy halter. I will have my hair messy-sexy, piled curls all over my head, with drop circle earrings and no necklace. (to detract from the bare shoulders/neck) I will have bare pantyhose on and pointed high heeled slingbacks to make me like 5'10.

Er.. at least I would if I was going to prom, and not turning thirty this year. It was nice to plan an outfit though.
Now I need an event.

the girls

yet another scorpio/cancer pairing

from left to right: sag/sag/virgo

in picture: virgo girl/sag boy. this is in front of, as you can see, the field museum!

We then went to the afterparty on a party boat. This is a view of the chicago skyline from the Lake [Michigan]. What you see in the photo is a reflection on a window.
