I can almost never be happy for people. If someone acheives something, I'll pretend to be happy for them, but I always have that jealousy lurking beneath. Any answers?

Birth data: May 2, 1990 at 8:40 PM. Born in Boston.

I think this is more about how you feel about yourself and your own achievements, than it is about other people. Maybe you feel as though you haven't achieved enough yourself, or *as* much as you see others achieving. You have a Sun/Moon square in fire/earth and they are both achievement prone, not mentioning they are in fixed signs.. Taurus/Leo, so neither will budge. Maybe you’re asking too much out of yourself. Take things one step at a time. Rome wasn’t built in a day.

I think you should focus on the things you have accomplished and the things you are good at. Everyone is good at something. The same people you envy might easily be envious at you for something entirely different.

Maybe, if you got involved in something, outside school, where you felt productive and useful (something artistic sounds likely, looking at your chart), maybe you would lose these feelings of jealousy. If you are consistently doing something on your own, something you feel you are good at.. and you get pats on the back for it, I think this would backup your confidence a bit more, so you don't feel outdone by others.

And remember that everyone is on their own track. Everyone has *their* life to live and you have yours. Taurus/Leo are almost always high achievers, so it's doubtful you won't get to where you want to go, if you put in the work, which I'm sure you will do. Your achievement doesn't have to be tied in with others failure though. You can achieve while others around you are also achieving, there's no need for this to turn into a competition.

Healthy competition can be good for you sometimes, but in order to have *healthy* competition, you have to first be content with your own efforts and what you have achieved, so you can give people a sincere hand shake in the end, whether you win or not.

i have sun square moon too. the problem with this aspect is we dont give ourselves enough credit. so we think other people have got way more than us. but the truth is we are usually overachievers. look up some famous people with the aspect. even if you dont like them most of them are high achievers. like president JFK. Gisele bundchen. anyway stop worrying about other people and realize your probably more awesome than you think.

lol also strong pluto can cause jealousy. dunno if you have that. remember focus on yourself and how awesome you are! dont worry about other ppl so much

oh...do you have venus conjunct mars too? lol we have similar charts. this is about strong feelings. passions. again the key is to realize that having venus conjunct mars makes you pretty exciting and awesome instead of focusing on other ppl. yup.

Hi,
Back when I was 16 I used to have issues with getting jeolous with other people. It occurs occasionally now, but I know what to look for when it happens. First pay attention when you get the feeling and ask yourself what is it about that other person that is getting to you. for example years ago I really despised a co-worker. She was expressive, attractive, made great money, had a nice condo and car, used men, criticized other people about their looks, etc. I couldn't stand her. Here was this woman who had everything and put people down. Finally I looked at why I got so upset with her. What did I learn about myself. Well, she had the audacity to be so confident and I didn't have that confidence. I realized she ****** me off because she was so bold to do as she pleased and I certain wasn't like that. I recognized that maybe I could benefit by being more assertive while not belittling others. After I came to terms with that in myself, I actually started to like her!!

Here is another thing to look at:Many of us feel that there is lack and limitation in this world. There is only so much to go around. Wrong Wrong Wrong. What that is really saying is the God loves you only so much and not any more. It says that God is not your source and that this world is your primary source for your good. This world is limited but God is not. Your success does not depend upon your employer, other people, the weather, etc. Where there is a will... Just because someone else got the job, gets, they guy, gets the award... doesn't mean that you do not have a rightful place. When one opportunity ends another is somewhere around the corner if you only pull yourself up and look for it. so why am I mentioning this? Frequently we get jealous because we believe in lack when someone else succeeds. Send that person blessings and well-wishing because they have shown you that what they have achieved is possible! and could be possible for you if your meant to pursue a similar goal. A friend has some great thing happen to her. Woo hoo! she's moving up that's incredible. something soon will happen to you if you open your self to the possibility.

Let's put astrology aside for a while and focus on what your able to do for yourself right now! Be positive, see the potential and it will manifest in your life!

The Taurus/Scorpio combination is pretty jealous... (I'm Taurus with Scorpio moon and I know this too well). But in recent years I've learnt to control it by focusing on myself, appreciating myself as an individual and not in relation to others. It can be hard to do when there's also insecurities in the background. Jealousy is usually when we perceive that somebody *has* something that we want or should have, or that they're somehow taking something away from us... but in reality, are they? Really? No! The important thing is to appreciate ourselves and do the things that make us feel good about ourselves... if someone achieves something that we haven't, well what's stopping us from achieving that same thing? Nothing!

I love your question and want to learn more. Can you post your placements for lazy's like me if you know them?

There are a few different reasons why you may feel that way, and I don't know anyone who hasn't felt that way at some point. I know it's a horrible feeling and I appreciate your courage to look at it straight on.

Thanks!

Thanks ...

Right off I see the Sun in Taurus with a Leo Moon. You care a lot about the company you keep as well as being a great date yourself.

Your Venus & Mars in Pisces will give you a nice cushion, so read as much as you can on Venus & Mars in Pisces, you may find unrealized assets.

The Jupiter in Cancer is not easy, but better than having a Saturn in Cancer, I think ... if you try, you have much capaciity for compassion rather than jealousy.

Having an Asc in Scorpio may make you more inflexible than you would like. But you to that Venus & Mars again ...

It's interesting that your Midheaven is in Virgo instead of Taurus, so that any of those lessons you have to learn about your Sun & Asc being in Opposite sides puts a lot more burden on your Sun in Taurus. Your Midheaven is in Virgo, which is kind of like my Scorpio Stellium being in my 6th House. It's a very analytical and painstaking placement, and it is perhaps, more of a mystery to you.

Oh, also read all you can on your Leo Moon, and above all, exercise your discretion as you read. You may want to re-read the same excerpts a few times, read them again the next day, and the next. You'll see something else each time you read it. The Leo Moon challenges everyone to pay attention to it.

I used to feel jealous and thwarted by other's successes. I would constantly compare myself to others and feel like I was coming up short, so it was hard not to feel jealous of great things that happened to other people.

I'm not sure what it is astrologically that causes this, but I know where it came from and how I got passed it.

You see my mother, from when I was little, would constantly compare me to others and praise other children and whatever child had qualities she thought were desirable, she would tell me, "see how so-and-so does this? why don't you try to be more like her!"... The thing is, I was NOT her. I am me. I think my mother viewed this as tactful, "constructive" criticism, but it really destroyed my self-esteem and made me feel like I wasn't good enough or constantly coming up short and that other children were "better" than me and I was fundamentally flawed, afterall, I could never get it right for her, could I? Even when I tried. Getting praise from her is like pulling teeth to this day, and even if you manage to get a compliment out of her, it's usually accompanied by a back-handed insult of some sort.

Anyhow. I'm not jealous anymore and I'm generally happy with myself. I consciously decided to be my own best-friend and change my inner dialogue. Instead of berating myself and going over and over "mistakes" and missteps and things I did wrong and comparing myself to others... I made the decision to tell myself what I would tell a friend in my situation... and STOP comparing and follow my own path.

I decided to be nice to myself.

It's worked wonders! Changing your inner dialogue is crucial. I'm almost certain yours is negative, especially when you're having these feelings of jealousy.

Astrologically, I do have a strong Pluto (1st house) and I have Sun conjunct Mars which makes me competitive. I have a Capricorn Moon which makes me ambitious and (I'll admit it) a little materialistic. hmmm... actually I do love beautiful things too and you can blame my Libra Rising for that. All things combined, I can get a little covetous and my complexion can turn a slight shade of GREEN at times... lol.

I'm so much better about it now than I was a few years ago though.

Also, from a psychological standpoint, it's PROVEN that when you think certain thoughts, synapses in the brain "remember" that thought and your responses become almost automated, so if you're constantly thinking negatively, your brain's autopilot response is also negative, defeated, jealous, thwarted, taking things personally, etc.

So at first, it might seem "fake" and the sentiments and thoughts, may well be fake, but the more you consciously make yourself think positively, be happy for others and be happy with yourself, sooner rather than later this will be your automated response and you'll really feel this way!

I've always been able to pep people up and make people geniunely feel better and positive and pay others geniune compliments they appreciate when feeling down. I've always been able to point out the silver lining on every cloud... but not for myself. One day, it just clicked to me that I ought to be my own friend and instead of berating myself, I started to tell myself what I would have said to a friend in my situation.

The old adage that you have to learn to love yourself before you can love anyone else is really true.

I apologize for rambling, but I used to feel so jealous and short-changed by everything and this was really the key for me to get over those nasty feelings and it helped me be geniunely happy for others, which is the kind of person I always wanted to be
