Since it is so close to a square, I would call it a square.

Opinionating,

Pluto is pretty potent, so its influence often extends pretty far. It would probably be a bit weaker when farther away.

EXAMPLE: Pluto square Venus is a marker for sexual abuse. The wider gap might show the very subtle, and often unrecognized, form in which one gender (usually femaile) is considered inferior to the other and treated accordingly. Another "mild" form would be excessive nudity in the childhood home.

It is still abuse, and still leaves scars.

I would just add,
that the house and sign placement
contribute to the power of the planets,
and, by extention, of the aspects between them.

Is Pluto or Venus in a sign of exaltation, rulership, detriment, fall?
Is either located in the 8th house or 4th house?

Also, are they in mutual reception,
is one of them conjunct an angle,
or at a "critical degree"?

This would all contribute to the
potency of the aspect,
and would certainly all come to bear,
when intepreting it.

writesomething,

hi. that IS weird,
but I was thinking of what Rev.Alice said,
and, it would seem that the issues of abuse
and the disturbances in the early environment
would be especially likely if the planets
were in the 8th and/or 4th house/s.
But this is not definite.
These planet and house combinations
suggest deep emotional connections/attachments,
and that could manifest in any number of ways.

It is important not to be too hard on ourselves where our ability to channel and manifest the power of the outer planets is concerned. These are powerful entities; archetypes of the unconscious equal in authority to the highest, and most mysterious of ancient gods. We are frequently given to servile, unconscious, deeply ingrained and compulsive behaviors, in their presence, and under their power. Guilt will only fuel the self-destructive tendencies. One should try to make good use of the times when one's will is free to develop the positive sides of the outer planets, but one should not expect this to come often or easy. It takes time, but, once you learn the signs, you will expect to find the enemy at your "gates", and, anticipating the enemy's assault, you will prepare your "city" for a seige.

Do not make the mistake of identifying
the outer planets with your personality,
for that will only encorage a fragmented,
ambivalent image of the self.
And "a house divided against itself cannot stand".

Squares in general, and particularly squares involving pluto and any one of the personal planets or points, take considerable talent, skill, time, and discipline to control, let alone master. On the up side, Pluto can give incredible power to anything it contacts
(when it is not burying that power), and, when the power is understood from a sufficiently evolved perspective (and not identified with the ego, etc.), then, great things, and truly great healings, are entirely possible.

It is interesting to note that,
while trines are generally taken for granted,
and tend to atrophy from dissuse,
squares command our energy and respect,
and very often get better and better with age.

I like your signature quote.

------

"My friends, how desperately do we need to be loved and to love. When Christ said that man does not live by bread alone, he spoke of a hunger. This hunger was not the hunger of the body. It was not the hunger for bread. He spoke of a hunger that begins deep down in the very depths of our being. He spoke of a need as vital as breath. He spoke of our hunger for love.
Love is something you and i must have. We must have it because our spirit feeds upon it. We must have it because without it we become weak and faint. Without love our self-esteem weakens. Without it our courage fails. Without love we can no longer look out confidently at the world. We turn inward and begin to feed upon our own personalities, and little by little we destroy ourselves.
With it we are creative. With it we march tirelessly. With it, and with it alone, we are able to sacrifice for others."

- Chief Dan George

-------

"In the psychopathic temperament we have the emotionality which is the sine qua non of moral perception; we have the intensity and tendency to emphasis which are the essence of practical moral vigor; and we have the love of metaphysics and mysticism which carry one's interests beyond the surface of the sensible world. What, then, is more natural than that this temperament should introduce one to regions of religious truth, to corners of the universe, which your robust Philistine type of nervous system, forever offering its biceps to be felt, thumping its breast, and thanking Heaven that it hasn't a single morbid fibre in its composition, would be sure to hide forever from its self-satisfied possessors?
If there were such a thing as inspiration from a higher realm, it might well be that the neurotic temperament would furnish the chief condition of the requisite receptivity."

I have Pluto Sq. my Sun, Mars and Venus as well. It is conjunct the ascendant in the 1st house.

Talk about relating. I've been wrestling with myself my whole life and I'm so much more evolved, smarter and wiser. Thank Goodness. I'm a work in progress.
