Let me copy paste something I wrote to Peri regarding past lives. This might clarify why the soul needs the actual memories deleted before the next life. =============================================

Advanced OverSouls = Angels, each in charge of different dimensions like God-Space, Vacuum, Hyperspace, Astral, Physical.
Experiential OverSouls exist as Plant OverSoul, Mineral OverSoul, Water OverSoul etc. They are also known as "Devas" when they manifest in the Astral or Physical Plane.
Human OverSouls exist independently, perhaps in millions. Some are Human and Alien OverSouls, some are Alien OverSouls. All exist in the timeless part called Hypersapce and are connected to God Mind.
Every Human OverSoul has a Soul Personality for experiencing Physical Life. Select syllabus of lessons are decided upon by the child Soul and the Parent OverSoul. Then He/She incarnates into a flesh body on Earth or any other planet that supports physical life.
Every physical experience involves Karma whose impulses and triggers are governed by Astrology. The Karmic debts which are unpaid need another birth.
Since Time does not exist in Hyperspace, the OverSoul can send the Soul Personality from 5000 BC (first incarnation) to 300 AD as the second incarnation and then 2000 BC as the third then 1977 as the fourth, 25000 BC as the fifth incarnation and so on. The Nature of karmic acts may demand a rebirth as a woman and may also require racial changes and religious changes to accomplish the tasks and for completing Karmic debts. The challenge of the game is to minimize debts
and maximize learning experiences.
To evolve the scope of learning, some OverSouls can replicate the Soul Personality Energy into a similar time period. Hence, the 6th incarnation of the above example can be split as 6, 7, 8 and all in different parts of the world in the same time of 1985!
They may even meet each other and interact!
The lessons learned can be applied to improve the condition of 25000 BC's incarnation or 1977's incarnation. However, any extra karmic debts by 6,7,8 may mean 9,10,11 incarnating in 1000 BC, 1 AD and 25000 AD, way into the future!!!!
Hence, all these 11 lives are simultaneously existing in the OverSoul's consciousness in Hyperspace, and all their Karmas are having a beneficial or detrimental effect to everyone's lives. The Soul Personality can decide when to call off the game and can even change the lessons on gaining awareness. This can cause merger of some lives and maybe new incarnations in other dimensions.
The process goes on either till all Karmic debts with other OverSoul's incarnations are cleared and the Soul rests inside the OverSoul in Bliss State [Yoga/Samadhi]
or
the Soul Personality evolves to a high level of being an independent OverSoul on his own to restart the process as he feels fit.

The Energy is the same that flows through all simultaneous lives. It goes to the OverSoul from the crown chakra and is sent back. Hence, Genuine Healing by any one human being has a domino effect of healing millions, by first healing the simulataneous lives and then all the other Souls with whom Auric sharing exists [through sexual intercourse or emotional bonding or genetic bonding].
The physical changes are occuring in a parallel Astral Universe that changes constantly, otherwise history books will be changing every second in this physical world.
Ultimately, the game's total scoring would depend on what sort of parallel Universe is created and the next Universal Game will start after taking stock.
