what if you don't have a venus/mars contact
in synastry? is it doomed? there is one
in the davidson chart but not in synastry.
alot of other intense aspects though-mainly
to pluto.

I agree,

There are many venus-mars relationships that failed, and vice versa.
Look at the Sun-Moon for "real" rapport and emotional and temperamental compatibility, plus of course other aspects. I know many happy couples without Venus-Mars aspects.
Sometimes it seems to me that perhaps, if there is a strong Venus-Mars aspect, it kind of makes us think that we are so madly in love and compatible, because the chemistry is usually amazing.
However, when this wears off somewhat, as it does, then we see that we are actually not that compatible, after all.
So, who knows, perhaps it is in some way good to base the relationship on more lasting, deeper aspects, than on Venus-Mars, which is just physical attraction, and not much more. Of course, if you have Sun-Moon, Venus-Mars, Sun-Venus all together, then it is trully divine, but Venus-Mars alone is definitely not enough to sustain the relationship. Perhaps to kick-start it, yes, but not to keep it going indefinitely...

thank you selena. yes we do have a sun
trine moon-his sun-my moon. and as i said
before, lots of pluto contacts. i also have
lots of planets (sun, mercury, uranus) in his
8th house. venus in his 7th. he has lots of
planets in his own 8th house.i have lots of
planets in my 10th-11th house and most of his planets fall there. but the pluto contacts are so intense-we get to a point and then both of us withhold. i don't understand it.

I've always wondered about Vunus and Mars...very mysterious. I wonder if it's really the Mars in a female's chart that shows what they find attract in others and the Venus in a male's or what the deal is...

Hi lovegoblin,

Be assured that your synastric 7th and 8th house placements, plus Venus-Pluto more than compensate the lack of venus-mars placements.
And Venus-Pluto is like that, mega-intense, but often one party or both withdraw, for many reasons.
Could be the fear of involvement, the fear of letting go, getting hurt, or simply some kind of control thing.
Very frustrating, especially since the contact is so sexually intense. Both people really have to be able to truly let go, but sometimes with Pluto it is very difficult thing to do...
