Has anyone tried to determine another's rising sign just by the behavior associated with that sign? If so, have you found that you can do this with any accuracy?

Also, are rising sign characteristics displayed moreso in first meetings or superficial relationships/acquaintances? I'm wondering if the rising sign becomes less of a factor and less pronounced as you become closer and more deeply involved with the person.

I actually find the rising sign fairly difficult to guess, but others may have a different experience. The only one that I can almost always guess, especially if I know their Sun sign, is Leo Rising. And yes, I find it gets more difficult to discern the longer you know a person- but it is interesting to watch a person you know really well as they interact with others in a social situation- then you can really notice their ascendant.

To be honest, I usually have a hard time guessing rising signs. It depends on the person and what first strikes me about them. Sun and Moon usually stand out most to me at first. But once I get to know them it's easier to guess.

The second qestion I think is a no. The rising sign is still definitely part of your personality no matter what. The people who were closest to me would probably be able to guess it just as well as anyone else, even though the charistics of that sign that I show in public are different from the ones I show in more intimate situations. They're still definitely there though!

I was thinking about this last week. Was around a few friends, and could see the connection with their asc.

The Sag asc was very loud and boisterous, but in a good way...and her laugh was crazy. The Libra asc just kinda laughed a lot, but was generally sweet and calm. The Virgo asc was VERY quick witted, and funny in a dry humour kinda way. Some asc’s stand out, some don’t.

I seem to pick up on sign influences in people. I haven't honed down to a person's ascendant, sun or moon yet.

I'm a Sag rising, and I definitely have a lot of Sag traits (I also have my sun in the 9th house.) I'm actually a little shy when I'm first in social situations (virgo sun), but once you get to know me, I'm very outgoing.

I am waaay better at guessing rising signs..I go by looks when guessing the rising. I remember meeting an aries and thinking he was a gemini..and he had gem rising. Last weekend I met a girl (whom I actually hung out with today) who's a Capricorn, but looks like a cancer and she has cancer rising. Then I met a scorpio guy and I thought he had an aqua sun and when I did his chart he had aqua rising! But I'm not so good with guessing sun signs. Obviously.

I met a scorpio guy in the bookstore astrology section who was 17, and I said "Let me guess your sign- I'm good at that." I only said it because it was obvious he was a scorpio. He said "you can try" and he just stared. I said "You're a scorpio." and he said "Yeah- wow I didn't think you would guess that." Then he guessed my sign was Libra, then he guessed Pisces. I do have pisces rising.
When I told him I was an aquarius, he said "Geez I never knew an aquarius could be so quiet and civilized." -lol.
