cute crab, planets that are within 5 degrees of the next house's cusp are considered active in the next house, as the effects are "thrown forward" - so, for example, if you have Venus in 22 degrees Leo, in your 6th house, but your 7th house cusp is 23 to 27 degrees Leo, your Venus is intrpreted to be in your 7th house.

Both! Romantic and passionate. And pretty passionate about philisophical meanderings too (9th house, Sagittarius's natural home)

cute crab,

lioneye is correct and the "throw forward" approach is one way to look at energies on the cusp. Another way to look at it to think of yourself stepping through a door...but you have not completely gone through the door, so you are half on one side of the door and half on the other.

Thinking about this in terms of the chart, if a person has their planets on the cusp between the 6th and 7th house, they are stepping through the "door" of the cusp into the 7th house...but they still have one "foot" in the 6th house. So I interpret this as having the planets in the sixth AND seventh house...in the door but not having fully stepped through it.

In the doorway,

Tim

The approach of interpreting a planet in the next house if it's close to the cusp. It really irritates me. I mean, for instance, my Sun.

It falls on the degree before my 8th House cusp, so it seems like everyone tells me that my Sun is in the 8th House when it's not. It's in the 7th. Even if only by a degree. I hate it when I get an interp or something, and it says that my Sun is in the 8th House, because it's never right for me.

I've heard from some astrologers who say that if the planet is in this house, it doesn't matter if it's at the beginning or the end, THAT'S the house it's in. Then these ones that will shove it into the next house. I guess you just go with which one is most right?

Since the placements of the Houses in our Charts can be sensitive to inaccurate time of birth, I'd treat the first House as a passage I've become fully aware of, and may at times attempt to integrate it into the next House over. Realizing one's tendencies in order to come to a conclusion is important and takes a lot of honesty.

I give it as much credence (in my simpleton style) as having a 0.50 Mars in Scorpio. I'm fresh out of all the lessons of Mars incarnation in Libra, and I'm beginning to integrate those lessons into a much more demanding Mars in Scorpio. Cuz there are days when I feel like I have a pooped out Libra Mars. Other days I'm pulling back the reins.

Transits and Aspects to those close calls may help draw forward what's going on.

Well. I sort of know how Nov feels but I have My Gem sun at 0 degrees and My Venus on the edge of the 5th house almost in the 6th.

With the Venus I feel that my love is definitely wrapped up in House 5 Taurus stuff--love of the arts, creative, childbirth and childrearing, games (especially scrabble!!) but my love is expressed through service and daily duty more often than not (h6)--I also have my mercury and sun in h6.

on a slightly related topic----Having Gemini at 0, some would contemplate the possibility of taurus peeking out especially since my sun and venus are actually conjunct. I would say I have grown and evolved more strongly each year into a Gemini though I am loyal to a fault which is exclusively taurus domain, not gemini....

My Aqua sun is on the cusp of the 5th/6th.

My Jupiter and Mars conjuntion are a degree or so away from the first house, but kinda in the twelfth. But still conjunct my ascentdant. (Virgo!)

And i get kinda confused about my Libra Moon cos equal house and koch place it in the first house, and placidus places it in the second.

I kinda feel the blending of energies works better, to be honest. rather than the booting it forward some, but still have a bit of a time trying to work it out as i just moved back to my mums and all my books are at my ex's. Bugger. And my mum has dial up!
