Im here making another of my mixed cds.. and it made me wonder about a few thing.. at the moment im mixing a 70's cd and i found a song i so so love..and is the first of my questions..

Im Not In Love by 10cc..

I'm not in love
So don't forget it
It's just a silly phase I'm going through
And just because
I call you up
Don't get me wrong, don't think you've got it made
I'm not in love, no no, it's because..

I like to see you
But then again
That doesn't mean you mean that much to me
So if I call you
Don't make a fuss
Don't tell your friends about the two of us
I'm not in love, no no, it's because..

I keep your picture
Upon the wall
It hides a nasty stain that's lying there
So don't you ask me
To give it back
I know you know it doesn't mean that much to me
I'm not in love, no no, it's because..

Ooh you'll wait a long time for me
Ooh you'll wait a long time
Ooh you'll wait a long time for me
Ooh you'll wait a long time

I'm not in love
So don't forget it
It's just a silly phase I'm going through
And just because I call you up
Don't get me wrong, don't think you've got it made
I'm not in love
I'm not in love

What sun sign do you think this song represents..coz i know ive told myself and others this sort of thing alot when i was younger.. was thinking was written from a Gemini's point of view..what do u think??

Ok on to the 2nd part of my question.. i love mixing cds and can spend hours and hours doing so(i have a library of more than 40GB of music).. my friends all pester me for cds.. but at the same time they all say how do i have the patience??.. I just love creating my own mixes and love to see the end result both for myself..and seeing my friends loving them too..What influences do u think create such a love of music??

CancerianMoon,

Venus and Neptune rule music. Venus rules singing. The 5th house rules creativity and artistic ability.

Some questions to ask yourself about your chart:

What aspects do you have with those planets,Venus and Neptune? What do you have in your 5th house? Where is your 5th house ruler and what aspects does it make?

What houses have Taurus, Libra, Leo and Pisces on their cusps?

I have Neptune in my 6th. I love music.

I've always loved music (since a very young age) and I'm Taurean (ruled by Venus)!

Now in regards to THAT song... me and Mr Gemini heard it playing last week and I said, "I hate that song!" and he replied "why? It's a great song!" ... I had to roll my eyes and think oh what a Gemini... lol, so you could be right about that! The reason though why I hate the song is because as a teenager one day I heard it on the radio and I felt like I've heard this song a million times before and I'm sick of it, never want to hear it again - only, this is the first time I ever remember hearing it! So I told my mother and she was taken aback, because that's a song she was practically obsessed with when she was pregnant with me!!! So I probably have some memories of hearing it too much from when I was in the uterus. So, this is me when I hear it:

My whole life is Music. I've been taking voice lessons and performing in choirs and such since I was four years old. I can't get enough of it. There was a time when I wanted to be a singer however my parents squashed that years ago...but it's always been and still remains one of the things I feel most passionately about...

I'm a Libra Asc (Venus ruled )
My Venus is in Scorpio..1st house

My Neptune is in my 3rd house...and it's 3 times a singleton so I guess that makes it like super important...

My 5th house cusp is Pisces (Jupiter there) and my 10th house cusp is Leo (Moon there)

Regarding that song, I feel a strong watery vibe coming from it when I listen to it in my head -- particularly Scorpio. I don't think it's the words so much as the feelings behind them and the lush atmospherics of the music.

Great topic! I have always loved music and spend a lot of time downloading and mixing my own cds, too. Astroleolady, you must be onto something because I have both Venus and Neptune conjunct my Ascendant, (and the are conjunct each other). I started to give this long explanation of the fifth house, etc, but I think it would be easier just to SEE people's charts, so I am going to attempt to post mine. As you can see, Mars is the ruler of my fifth house and I have several Mars aspects but don't know how all that fits in.

Personally, I don't think liking music has much to do with anyones chart. Everybody likes music. I tend to believe what KIND of music one prefers is influenced by ones chart, though. I like all kinds of music from opera to hip-hop, but I do have my favorites and there's always the songs that will take me back for better or worse. I have a fishy 5th and have learned over the years how music affects my emotions (i have soooo much water in my chart). I try to listen to mellow music, coz if I listen to heavy metal I'm ready to kick some a!! lol

Then there's the energizing music you just have to get up and dance to , and the mellow music to calm me down or put myself to sleep listening to. Just think of how empty our lives would be without music!

i have asc n venus in libra...venus is in 12th house-neptune's house.
neptune is in 3rd conj jupiter-sag.
venus is square neptune.(wonder what that means)
i have only pallas in the 5th house.

now i've been singing since when?...ah i think since the time i started talking too ie when i was 6 months old...hehe...yeah thats true.
i used to make my own songs n poems since i was 1yr old.
singing has always been a part of my life-though i didnt learn it proffessionally niether do i want to take it proffessionally, its jus a hobby that i follow...
i tried to get proffessional training in singing but unfortunately there werent any good teaching schools around, not a single teacher .
but i'll keep singing the rest of my life cos it helps me keep in touch with my inner self...
now as far as voice goes i wont go into details but i mostly sing strong ballads-whitney houston, celine dion type, n yeah juley andrews' songs too esp -the sound of music .
the type of music i prefer mostly has a haunting feel to it- kina like creepy sometimes. the song should have soul in it, something that tugs at u when u listen to it...think evanescence(is that how u spell it),the rasmus..etc.
i have pluto conj asc in 1st house n also saturn in 1st house- so maybe thats why i like such songs.
btw i think the songs by the rasmus r very scorpionic in there feel- esp 'in the shadows'. wots his sun??
then i have this thing for latino music too- all ur ricky martin, shakira stuff- luv the beats. dont know what rules it tho..

Back to the song...

I got both the water impression AND the Gemini impression, so I'm gonna go with Gemini Sun with Cancer Moon. A Cancer would think those things, but never vocalize them.

_____________________________________________

As for Astroleolady's questions:

Venus/Neptune conjunction in Sag in the 7th

Moon in Virgo in the 5th.

Mercury conjunct Venus in the 7th.

uh oh about that song...
i dont know why it kinda gives a very virgo feel- like they dont wanna get attached n lose their freedom n ya there's that stain thing also-
I keep your picture
Upon the wall
It hides a nasty stain that's lying there
So don't you ask me
To give it back
I know you know it doesn't mean that much to me

thats what i feel...

This song is GEMINI, GEMINI, GEMINI

"don't think you've got it made"- Egotistically presumptuous.

"just a silly phase I'm going through"- recognize their own passing fickle feelings, but can't help it.

"I like to see you, But then again
That doesn't mean you mean that much to me"- What can I say- this is CLASSIC Gemini. They have you around only to make themselves feel popular.

"Don't tell your friends about the two of us"- Forever stuck on social image.

"So don't you ask me To give it back
I know you know it doesn't mean that much to me"- Spiteful.

So I definitely agree with anyone who labels this a Gem song.

There is something "ironically delusional" about this song. Sort of like when Carly Simon sang, "You're so vain, you probably think this song is about you."

Well my own Gemini boyfriend thinks it's a Gemini song! The lyrics remind me TOO MUCH of our early days dating... I felt like I was banging my head against a brick wall!

I do agree about the watery vibe of the music though. It reminds me of the moon, so I'd go with the Cancer moon definitely.

astroleolady,
i have Sun(cancer)Moon(gemini)& Mercury(cancer) in the 5th..
5th house ruler is Gemini..
Dont really know great deal about the aspects..but my venus/neptune ones are
Venus Square Saturn 1°58
Venus Opposition Ascendant 4°48
Neptune Sextile Pluto 3°39

GeminiLover,
thats too funny!!..there was a show i used to watch daily while pregnant with my son and he definately recognised it as a new born..when he heard the music to that show his attention was instantly caught..

alanabelle86,
Ive always loved singing..not the most wonderful voice..but i always sing to my kids..even in mucking around..singing is a fantastic release too!! Makes ya feel great

divinia,
watery vibe is possible too(i have alot of water in my chart).. i have cancer sun gemini moon so i think this is why the song really felt a part of me so many years ago..

mysticaldream,
dont you just love it when youve completed the cd and you lsten to it..double pleasure of music..and something youve created..its like a double whammy..

aquaspryt69,
your right everyone likes music to a certain extent..while my girlfreind loves music alot and cant live a day without pumping her stereo(same as me).. she would never spend time making..but i guess thats more about being creative..rather than a love of music.. and to think about even a day without music...wooooow..i couldnt do it!! :P

sugarbuns,
you dont need to sing professionally to have it affect you or others..i always sing with and to my kids..and they love it..i even encourage them to find lyrics to songs they like and we sing and learn them together..its uplifting and so so much fun to sing together..i love it Keep singing!!

AG,
id have to definately agree with you..coz i feel foremost this is a Gemini song..but with a watery feel...and ur right about a Cancer not vocalizing the words...even if they did feel em :P

Dulce Luna,
hehe..funny

Scorpionic Web,
AGREE AGREE AGREE.. hehe.. do you think the song "Your So Vain" was a Gemini inspired song too??

You're So Vain Lyrics By Carly Simon

You walked into the partyLike you were walking onto a yacht
You had strategically dipped below one eye
Your scarf it was apricot
You had one eye in the mirror
When you watched yourself gavotte
And all the girls dreamed that they'd be your partner
They'd be your partner and

You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you
You're so vain
I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you don't you

You had me several years ago
When I was still quite naive
Well, you said that we made such a pretty pair
And that you would never leave
But you gave away the things you loved
And one of them was me
I had some dreams they were clouds in my coffeClouds in my coffe and

You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you
You're so vain
I guess you think this song is about you
Don't you don't you

I had some dreams they were clouds in my coffe
Clouds in my coffe and

You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you
You're so vain
I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you don't you

Well, I hear you went up to Saratoga
And your horse naturally won
Then you flew your Lear jet up to Nova Scotia
To see the total eclipse of the sun
Well you're where you should be all the time
And when you'e not you're with
Some underworld spy or the wife of a close friend
Wife of a close friend and

You're so vain
You probably think this song is about you
You're so vain
I'll bet you think this song is about you
Don't you don't you

Rings more of a Scorpion type song to me.. maybe with a splash of Gemini..

ScorpioRising,
My sister is a bit like that she is a Libra.. and doesnt really get excited at the thought of adding new music to her collection, listening to it etc..only when she is in the right mood .. its not a main things for her.. i get so excited at the thought of getting more music..and creating more..i need it daily!

Cancerianmoon,
Yeah, I do love my own compilations; and I have some VERY diverse tastes, so you could find me downloading just about anything depending on my mood.

As for the song, I'm not in love........

I always thought it sounded cold and egotistical. I wouldn't associate it with any sign necessarily. I think it's weird the songwriter was ever moved to write a song about someone they felt so BLAH about...... I would rather someone hate me passionately than feel that way........

Interesting that Gemini/Cancer is the recurring theme here... just found out Carly Simon was born on June 25th...

Like the 10cc song, Carly Simon sings as though she is speaking of someone else's problems, when actually the song implies a moment of the singer's own self-delusion.

CancerianMoon- "You're So Vain" does seem like it was written FOR a Scorpio, but I meant that the 10cc song was written AS a Gemini, not Gemini-inspired. I don't think Scorpios are vain, per se, so to suggest it was written for a Scorp would only add to the song's ironic edge. All I meant to say about "You're So Vain" was that it had that same "ironically delusional" feel as the 10cc song. (I think you get what I intended, but I just wanted to clarify it better)

But "You're So Vain" definitely sounds like the result of a girl manipulated by a Scorpio... she is so spun around that even in her attempts to put him in his place, she displays her own vulnerability.

Actually, I've heard several times that "You're so vain" was written by Carly about her relationship with Aries Warren Beatty. So, the guy she's referencing was an Aries. He was known for his many shallow relationships and Playboy days of his younger years.

Yeah, you can't top the hubris of a Fire sign male.

But I still think the words you're-so-vain weren't meant to be taken literally. The chorus is just too ironic. Unless someone digs up a Carly Simon interview, maybe we'll never know.

But the mark of a true artist is to leave room for debate and interpretation, just as she did. So I hope she didn't ruin it by confessing the real meaning.

I think to call him "vain" was a defense mechanism. Because, to me, it sounds like a girl trying to justify being dumped by calling the guy a "pig", when we can all see from the second verse that she loved him and wouldn't have left him, herself.

Scorpionic Web,
absolutely..thats what i meant..that i felt "Your so vain" was written FOR a Scorp.. and i think the song "Im not in love" written BY a Gemini..and yes i got what you meant about the comparative

mysticaldream,
i think that "Im not in love" was more about someone deluding themselves..and they really did feel something about the other person but just couldnt open themselves enough to admit it.. they didnt wanna give someone else that "power" i have felt that alot as a younger woman..(think ive grown up now!!)hehe
As for the diversity..me too..depends alot on what im doing too..for example while im doing the housework i lovemuch more lively stuff..music is food for the soul keeps me smiling!
