What would indicate in one's chart the ability to be a comedian?

Astro mentions having Asc or Mercury in Cap - and don't ask me why either.

Having a sense of humor is another way of seeing the positive at any point in your life so that's where Jupiter and Sag come in.

And one can be crafty at humor (or any other mental enterprise) with a mercury placed in its own sign of Gemini or possibly the 3rd house.

(makes me wonder about IQHunk's mercury placement..)

I'm not going to get technical on this, because I really don't have the knowledge, BUT I've looked up many famous comics just to find out their sun signs. Based on the Sun sign alone, I can tell you that it seems there have been more Sag comics than any other...Richard Pryor, Sam Kinnison, Lenny Bruce, Redd Foxx, etc. I'd say Taurus can take the runner up position...George Carlin, Jerry Seinfeld.

I've also heard alot about Mercury in Capricorn and Sag Sun...

I have Mercury in Capricorn in the 4th house and I am a Saggie. Even when I am trying not to be funny, I will come up with some real zingers that cause people to blow soda out their noses LOL....

Most of it comes from observation of everyday things and I think one has to have a sense of humor to make it in this world

They always generalize goats as having a "dry" sense of humor, and i think i do too, being a Capricorn (i have a whole stellium there). I don't know why that is though... Perhaps that is the Cappy's way of dealing with the heaviness of the Saturnian influence.

Then, there's Sagittarius which, being ruled by Jupiter, brings out a fun-loving tendency in those influenced by it. I have a Saggie Ascendant, so supposedly I come across as one.

I think Leo might make for showy comedians too; they love being the center of attention!

Gemini makes one quick-witted, which is an important quality if you're going to do stand-up, I suppose.

But then again, these are all generalizations. I think the placement of the Mercury in one of these signs would contribute to how funny a comedian one makes, if they have the gift of the gab. And I agree about Jupiter - this one affects the outlook, so the placement of this planet would help one to have a light-hearted attitude.

Fun topic!

I agree, lots of Sag comics...makes sense...

I have Cappy rising..I think the Capricorn thing might have to do with the ability to deliver the joke or story... and of course, to remember it

A couple more you could add:

Sag - Jon Stewart
Taurus - Stephen Colbert

The funniest guy I know has tons of planets in Capricorn (sun, mercury, Venus, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus) and he's got a Sag asc. OMG he makes me laugh so hard...My friend Syd n I used to always call him the 'gayest white boy ever' because he was corny but in a cool, funny way! People either really love him or really hate him, I've noticed. He and I clicked instantly. People are always saying to me "You and Will should go out! You look like dumb and Dumber together and it's so cute!" I would be like "mk..heh..thanks for calling me dumb:/"
I have a dry-sense of humor that seems to make people laugh. I'm not sarcastic though..god I hate sarcasm. Perhaps that's the only good thing about my d*mn capricorn stellium.

I know another hilarious guy who has a Libra sun, Leo moon, Cappy rising. Such a funny dude. He will say a joke after you say something, then not laugh. The other day we were at Christos together and he made me laugh so hard I cried. Yeah it was embarrassing. Then he just sat there and stared...He always makes me look like the biggest retard in public! But it's fun.

Cancer guys try to be funny in a bada$$ way, you know? it's really quite irritating.

OHH I really like Steven Colbert! He's got a Gem moon as well
I also like Carlos Mencia...He's so in-your-face and he tells it like it is! He's awesome..He's a Libra/Scorp cusp.

How bout for the least funniest sign? VIRGO! Gah NO Virgos I know are funny...Scorpios rarely are, either.

Sun::Aquarius
Moon::Libra
Asc&venus(conj.)::Pisces
Mars::Gemini
Merc.Saturn.Nep.Uranus:: Capricorn

Leos, Capis, Taurus, Virgos are the signs that also come to mind....

Yeah, least funny wouldn't be Virgos with Dave Chappelle (I think) and Bill Murray.

I've been known for my sense of humour and ability to make the whole room turn into a fit of giggles.

I've got Leo Asc, Sag Sun, Gem Moon.

I have a lot of Sag Sun's in my family and they are all hilariously witty, it's great when we're all in the same room together!

Hmmm.. I disagree with virgos not being funny. Adam Sandler is a virgo.

I definitely agree with Sags... my dad is a Sag, and he was the funniest person I knew. He was always making people laugh.

I have Sag rising, and everything amuses me. I'm always laughing.

Oh, I forgot to add that a lot of Cancers are funny too, for some reason. My best friend is a cancer, she's always making jokes.

Will Ferrell is my favorite comedian, and he's a cancer.

I like Ben Stiller a lot too, he's another Sag.

That's interesting, I also have Moon/Mercury in Capricorn and people always tell me how funny I am... I don't really see it, but I am good with word plays and like Pid said... delivering unexpected zingers... LOL! I have strong Sag in my chart with Venus and Neptune exactly conjunct in my 3rd house.

My ex-husband has Cap rising and he is a very obviously funny and sometimes obnoxiously funny guy. He's also extremely charming with the Sun/Venus/Mercury in the 1st.

In high school, this guy was talking about how funny me and my best friend were, that we were the funniest girls in school. He said I reminded him of Roseanne and I got all offended because I thought he meant I was fat! LOL!!! Insecure teenage twit!!!
