What are some common placements that would make someone suspectible to insomnia. Possibly a strong neptune???

I know someone who has a very hard time sleeping and wanted to see if there is something in the natal chart that would point that out. When I get the birth time I will post it.

Moon in the 8th house SQUARE a Neptune Conjunct Ascendant (in the 12th house possibly)

Also maybe a Mercury in the 6th house SQUARE a Neptune in the 8th house.

Those are some possibilities.

Insomnia is a medical disorder in most cases so it would most possibly relate back to the 12th or 6th house.

I hope that helps.

My mother is a Pisces Rising, and that woman has a terrible case of insomnia. Goes days without sleeping sometimes.

Sometimes, I don't know how she functions on a day to day basis.

I have had troubles sleeping for many years now, even last night I didnt sleep much.
I think it might be mercury conjunct pluto and moon trine neptune, neptune in the first house.
The mind is ALWAYS thinking about everything.
Even like before Im about to sleep, I might start thinking about a conversation I had with someone 10 years ago lol, its driving me nuts sometimes.

I have always had problems with sleeping. I agree with Neptune5 that 6th house and Mercury is involved

I would say that it's my:

1. Moon in Pisces in 6th square the opposition of retrograde Saturn in Gemini in 9th and Jupiter-Neptune in Sagittarius in 3rd
(this t-square sucks! this can indicate numerous issues) - mutable, cadent t-sqare can be quite restless

2. 4 planets in 3rd(Mercury,Venus,Jupiter,and Neptune)

3. Virgo Ascendant

4. Mars Aquarius in 6th

5. Unaspected Uranus

also:

3rd house ruler(Pluto) in 1st in mutual reception with 1st house ruler(Mercury in 3rd)

Mercury conjunct Sun/Neptune midpoint
Uranus conjunct Mercury/Ascendant midpoint

I am too high strung and too sensitive for my own good

overactive mind/nervous system

ASTRO LADY -

You are getting excellent feedback on this ...

The first thing I thought of was Mercury/Gemini/3rd House and/or Mercury/Virgo/6th House. I was really surprised to learn about the Neptune/Pisces/12th House influences, but I can see that now.

For example: A Virgo Gemini/Mooner or Gemini/Virgo Mooner seem to have experience with insomnia.

But since Neptune/Pisces/12th House is very much about the hidden dream life, I can see where any disruption in energy flow would confuse the Natal person. BUT I wonder if those people also do well with little sleep to begin with! I think this is important to consider because it might seem like insomnia to some, but they function just as well as anyone else ...

I talked about in other posts about how my lunar apex t-square of Moon in Pisces in 6th square the opposition of retrograde Saturn in Gemini in 9th and Jupiter-Neptune in Sagittarius in 3rd indicates my Dyslexia,Dyspraxia and so not just my insomnia.

Here is something on Dyspraxia in regards to problems sleeping.

Dypsraxics (along with people who have similar conditions on the Autistic spectrum) may have difficulty sleeping since there is an inability to force the brain to stop thinking and "shut down". A dyspraxic is nearly always thinking about several unrelated things at once, (the inverse is also possible, with only one dominant thought occupying the dyspraxic's entire attention span at any given time) so this may cause easy distractability and daydreaming[citation needed]. It is quite easy for someone with dyspraxia to concentrate entirely on a particular thought instead of on the situation at hand. For this reason, dyspraxia may be misdiagnosed as ADHD since on the surface both conditions have similar symptoms in some areas[citation needed]. Many people with dyspraxia have short-term memory issues and may forget instructions they received only seconds before, tend to forget important deadlines, and are constantly misplacing items[citation needed].

note: Dyspraxia can be misdiagnosed as ADHD.
The symptoms overlap. If the person has significant coordination problems and not just memory/attention/concentration/restlessness/fidgety issues, they should get tested for Dyspraxia.

Cod liver oil has helped my brain to function much better. The DHA in it helps me to think and feel better. DHA is an Omega 3 fatty acid deficiencies have been found to be linked to Dyslexia,Dyspraxia, and AD/HD which are conditions that tend to be comorbid.

I really do think that your individual transits for the day may contribute to personal insomnia.

it's interesting that you would say that about people with Neptune/Pisces/12th House placements. I've had trouble sleeping for most of my life and I have a lot of the Neptune/Pisces/12th House influence in my chart, but I can still function just as well as everyone else even with little sleep. Not to say I wouldn't mind getting some sleep but, for example, at the moment, I've gone 3 days with only 2 or 3 hours of sleep. [That sounds like it's intentional lol, but it's not.]

I have an overactive Mercury in Scorpio, 12th and my mind just does not stop until I fall asleep. If there is something on my mind, forget about sleeping until the problem is solved.

Don't forget the full moon, I believe is tomorrow, August 9 in Aquarius...so if anyone is having problems sleeping...I know I do a couple of days prior to a full moon.

I was an insomniac at a very young age ~ 5 years old is how far back I can remember not being willing or able to sleep . I used to hide under my covers and read, create stories or tv commercials for my stuffed animals and although I would be put to bed at 8:PM I would be awake until early in the morning. To this day, I have a hard time sleeping and will be awake until 7:AM.

I think that the fact that my Sun, Mercury (in Gemini) and Venus are in the 12th house has something to do with it. I also have many strong hard aspects to Neptune (only two soft aspects) and I believe that those are also partly responsible.

This is also true for Mercury where I have many hard aspects (Mercury opp. Neptune) and only one soft one...it's really and truly difficult to shut down my brain. Plus, I prefer the night to the day.

Also, I am a Cancer with a fair amount of Cancer in my chart and so sometimes I like to add worry to my excessive thinking, just for fun of course.

I will say too that I do not operate at all well with little sleep.

Interesting topic.

Love

Good point regarding Transits needing to be considered as well. The whole subject of Transits and sleep can easily make me go off into multiple tangents.

Love -

You made me wonder about Cancer energy experiences with insomnia, and most of all, their own perception of their own sleep routine. In other words, I have a Cancer Moon (I don't think the 4th House would pertain here, do you?) -- and I too do worse with too little sleep. It may be because that energy is already "Crabby" and knows well enough to leave it alone when possible.

Someone else who feels like they've had a lack of sleep might fit under a whole'nother slew of adjectives.

I have Moon in 8th house and have trouble sleeping the past 6 years or so. I would say water elements in a chart have difficulty sleeping due to emotional stress, worry. I am a Cancer rising, Pisces sun, Capricorn moon. My mind wanders too much at night and I worry about what I haven't done or the things I need to do excessively. Realizing I am too hard on myself.
