Any opinions on this? I've mostly studied synastry charts; I'm not great with composites. Seems like the Yod and the large number of squares are significant... IP: Logged |

femme,The composite chart is read just like a birth chart. With the squares (energy needs to be combined with) between the 7th house (relationships) and 10th house (duty, also structure), there is a need to have a structure in relationships. This could indicate fighting for authority or it could indicate a strong commitment in the relationship...or both. composite charts are a different entity than natal charts and, in my opinion, shouldn't be read in the same way. it isn't the chart of a physical entity--it's a chart of the combined energy of two separate charts. it isn't charting a definite moment in time and space. it's conceptual. when i look at composites, i mainly look for conjunctions, oppositions, squares, and the angles. the so-called 'difficult' aspects are not so difficult in the composite--it just means there is a lot of energy there.it's important to see if any planets in the composite conjunct any planets in either natal chart. that planet will be particularly affected by the relationship, possibly subject to accelerated change through the relationship. also, that person's planet will affect the area in the couple's composite. Chrissy, I liked your view on composites a lot. Especially when you said squares and oppositions aren't necessarily bad things to have in the composite. My boyfriend and I have really good aspects in synastry, with mostly trines and conjunctions... but in the composite, we have a LOT of oppositions... and I mean a LOT. In the "regular" composite chart, the virgo moon conjuncts my natal sun... and in the Davidson chart, the moon is in pisces, conjuncting his natal sun... not sure if that's significant or not. The composite sun is also in the 7th house. IP: Logged |

Thanks, This subject is great timing since I'm just learning about composite charts and I'm more familiar with synastry. Your clarification of the aspects being more of energy make sense because I've been questioning the idea of "solidifying" a planet because it was determined solely on being a midpoint. I'm not certain I even fully understand how say -one's Pisces moon and another's Cancer moon makes the two a composite Taurus moon. The energy of Taurus is achieved by mixing a Pisces and Cancer together???? Could someone please explain the reasoning behind this? Also, how should synastry then be viewed? If someone has great aspects in synastry and awful in composite which weights more in determining compatibility? IP: Logged |

pseudofemme -I haven't mentioned astro.com's INTERACTIVE Charts too much lately cz we usually try to send people there to collect some stats to post here. But if you want a free Composite interpretion, I've found a lot of good basic information here. FREE CHARTS > Under Interactive Horoscopes click ASTROCLICK PARTNER You get a Wheel and click on ALL parts of it in order that a pop-up window appears with the interpretation pertaining to what you clicked. I strongly suggest copying & pasting the text from those pop-ups into your hard drive so you have do to it only once. ------------------ ... it's better to light a candle than curse the darkness
