Are there any placements that make a person more "old fashioned"? I have Gem asc. Moon in Leo. Mars in aquarius. Venus in Scorp. Mercury in Scorp. and I'd say I'm pretty old fashioned. A lot of like, new age stuff, I'm really not okay with. I don't think it's JUST the way I was raised, because my family has gotten more lenient (it was very strict when I was a kid). I feel more old fashioned than my family though. I want to go to college, find the right guy, get settled down. I don't care 2 much about partying or drinking, etc. I just want to have like a little life! I don't even feel like I fit into my age group. My political views are really conservative too. I believe 100% in the death penalty, I'm a Christian (I don't think prayer should be allowed in school, but "moments of silence", as to respect others religous preferences), I don't think homosexuality is natural, and am against gay marriage also (you can't carry on the human race with 2 guys/2 girls, and a a guy and a girl FIT together for a reason!!!!!!!! )I just don't think it's natural. I don't hate gay people though. I have mars in aquarius, believing everyone should be able to live their life as they see fit. The way I see it, it's their life you know! I don't think I'd be comfortable being friends with a girl if she was bisexual or a lesbian though. I feel bad saying that, but.... anyways!!!!!!

Are there any placements that emphasize conservativeness? I know Venus in Scorpio is one of them. Mars in Aquarius (jane fonda, joan of arc placement!) is pretty much an open-minded placement though. I have sun sign scorp, and mercury in scorp, and I think.. saturn in scorp? (born in 86)

It's just infuriating because people are always trying to like, CHANGE me!!! ITS INFURIATING!!!! Or they think you think yourself better or something, as if you're stuck up. No, I'm accepting of people, whatever it is they are, etc. In a way it's like I should be more discriminative, because when you aren't too judgemental of people, let them be whoever they are, you kind of like, let in all kinds of people, making yourself susceptible, and those very people, try to change YOU. Now, I can not be so old-fashioned, but for the most part I'm a pretty conservative person you know? That's the main over-view people always percieve of me, so they'll like go out of their way to like, ... try to get you drunk (when I was younger), just act crazy, all kinds of stuff like that. If people left you alone, they'd see you know, there does exist some ... normalness "whats considered normal to people in my age group" in me. For the most part though, I'm 19, and most people my age, I don't fit in with, at all, just the things we care about, our goals, perogatives.

Scorpios LOVE traditions. There are many fundamentalists and religious fanatics among Scorpios. Without offence.
Have a nice day!

Capricorn and even Aquarius are associated with being conservative, the cause being Saturn. So imagine a good dose in these signs would promote conservativeness.

Then there are those who don't like change: the fixed signs

and then there are those who are sentimental - Cancer.

Look for conjunctions, squares, and oppositions (particularly oppositions) from Saturn to the personal planets -- these placements would emphasize conservatism for sure. Lots of 10th house emphasis as well, be sure to check for that.

Scorpio is a sign that is attracted to conservative, time-honored traditions, too. And Scorpio is an emotional sign; they often make choices about what to believe in for emotional reasons.

Remember, planets represent particular psychological drives, urges, and motivations. Like verbs, they depict a certain action which is going on -- for example, Mars *asserts*, Venus *harmonizes/relates*, Jupiter *expands*, Saturn *restricts*, et cetera. The signs represent twelve qualities of being or attitudes towards life. The drive of a planet is expressed through the sign in which the planet is placed. Mars can assert in an Arien or Taurean way; Venus can harmonize in a Geminian or Cancerian fashion, and so on. Houses, however, show the specific areas of everyday life or fields of experience in which all this is occurring. Mars in Taurus will assert itself in a slow and steady manner, but its placement by house determines the exact area of life in which this slow and steady action can most obviously be observed -- whether it is in the person's career that he/she acts that way, or in his/her relationships, or at school, et cetera. Put very simply, the planets show what is happening, the signs show how it is happening, and the houses show where it is happening.

Hope this is helpful.

Dear Savage Scorpio,

I just went back and re-read your post and saw that you mentioned you had Mercury, Venus AND Saturn in Scorpio -- yeah, that'd do it. Venus is values (as well as relationships -- think about the 2nd house side of Venus vs the 7th house side of Venus) and connected with Saturn this surely speaks to a level of conservatism.

Given that you have a Gem AC, that puts your Scorpio stuff in the 6th house, most likely. The 6th house follows the 5th and reminds us of our natural boundaries and the need for clearer self-definition. Like the philosophy of Zen, the 6th house asks that we respect and regain the "perfection of our original nature" -- the challenge is to become what we alone are, no more, no less. Our true vocation is to be ourselves. In this house, the time has come to take stock in ourselves, to discriminate between priorities, to assess the use we are making of our power and capabilities, and above all, to recognize the limits and truth of our own nature and humanity.

Try as it may, a pear seed can never become an apple tree. Nor should it, if we believe as Kierkegaard did, that "to will to be the self which one truly is, is indeed the opposite of despair". The 6th house is all about sticking to our plan and blossoming into precisely what we are meant to be. Doing this feels right and good. But the consequences for not respecting the truths of our own nature are stress, frustration and disease.

Reality has a both a within and a without. The 6th house explores the relationship between what we are inside and what surrounds us on the outside -- the correlation between the inner world of mind and feelings and the outer world of form and the body. The traditional 6th house labels of health, work, service, and adjustment to necessity all stem from this bodymind connection.

I just realized I have 5 planets in the 6th house. I didn't know that was possible. Is that rare? All my main planets, moon/venus/etc. are in fixed signs. Four planets in Scorpio too! Is that supposed to be good.

The only thing we have different is our Ascendants, awesome

anyways, I find tradition and conservativeness interesting however, I'm torn between following it and breaking it. More often than not, I love just tearing tradition to shreds and being so out there and just doing my own thing regardless of what anyone thinks or says (respectfully, of course) just because thats how I am...however at the same time, part of me is so refined and conservative about *certain* aspects of my life that I feel I'm at a constant tug of war.

My family is so focused on me just settling down and having children with a husband too, and just being content with a traditional family life while it almost sickens me at times. Marriage itself is like (yikes..lemme crawl away now...) but I know that I'm extremely drawn to the independent, career driven, revolutionary woman type who doesnt get married, doesnt settle down, has a wonderful career, has no kids...etc.

It drives my family insane, and my BF (the infamous insanely conservative Sag/Aqua) ..however, it's just me.

Whoa that's cool we have a bunch of the same placements.
I'm scorpio sun, leo moon, gemini ascendant and aquarius midheaven.
I've never met anyone with so many of the same placemants as me.
oh And my second and third houses are in cancer my fourth and fith houses are leo and virgo respectively. that's neat.

Am I old fashioned and conservative, yes somewhat to a point. probably more so then most in my generation. I am a bit on the odd ball side though and I have and do party more then i should. I'm not very religious and I try to accept people as they are. Two of my best friends are lesbians and it doesn't bother me a bit.
I consider myself old fashion in the way that I believe and follow some of the more old school morals and values.

I don't know if any of this helps answer your question but it kinda tripped me out when I saw all your placements. oh my parents were very hippy-like so I tend to be more laid back about things but I still insist that I have an old fashioned/conservative way about me.

This is interesting. I would have thought Aquarius is one of the last to be conservative or old-fashioned because they're the eccentrics and unusual ones.
I'm very old-fashioned myself. It must be the strong Piscean influence, maybe?

Hey Savage Scorp.. join the club

I'm a Conservative, Christian (but open to astrology, metaphysics because I believe God gives us gifts, Republican- minority, living in a predominantly Liberal part of Arizona (and before that I lived in Maryland and Portland, OR) and have had TONS of people try to change me. BUT.. I also believe in the live and let live theory. I love my homosexual friends and would love to see them be able to have their own civil union if the preferred it. Who am I to take away the rights of another?

Why is it I am supposed to accept them, yet they won't tolerate me? I don't discuss my views unless asked and if it gets heated I usually move the discussion to something else LOL..

Well.. at least it ain't boring right?

Sun - Sag
Moon - Aries
Merc - Capricorn
Venus - Sag
Mars - Pisces

Rising - Virgo

PS.. I also have Saturn in Taurus in the 8th house.. that could be an indicator

I know what you mean about being so out there and doing your own thing! There's nothing more I hate than anyone trying to change me, and stepping on my freedom! Personally, I can't wait to get married, find the right guy for you, build a life with someone. People think I'm crazy for this, and always try to like, get me to lighten up, but you date someone for the intent of having a future with them, or else you are wasting your time. That's the way I see it, and no one seems to understand that! I've meet guys who agree, but it's rare.. *makes it difficult!* At the same time, I truly love being alone/single/celebate. I'd rather better myself, accomplish my goals, go to school, so when the right guy comes along, I don't have a lot of baggage from frivilous relationships. The moon opposite mars placement is really difficult. Plus with having 5 planets in the 6th house, adamant about truth and freedom/independence, being able to live your own life, having very set focused goals.

Is this really a GOOD chart to have?!

Dear SS,

I can't seem to pull up your chart because the image has expired, but...

I noticed (using the copied data you provided from astrodienst) that you have a very important t-square in your chart:

Moon in 3rd opposed Mars in 9th, and this opposition is squared by Sun/Pluto conjunct in 6th house.

The meaning of this T-square has to be understood as a whole. It is the basic spiritual spine of this chart. Everything else in the chart stems from the basic spiritual lessons this aspect configuration exemplifies. Everything else is secondary—even the ruling planet, the angles and the nodes.

The Moon needs to be understood in terms of consciousness. It is the energetic core that we bring into this life, and it represents not only what we are at essence but what we have been and known. It is the sum of experience. Also, during this life, it is the evolving consciousness that is beyond the “I” of the Ascendant. The nodes of the Moon show the most recent past and orientation and the most acute means of moving forward in this lifetime.

Pluto and the Sun both in conflict with this basic consciousness shows that this is a lifetime of extremely accelerated growth. Pluto shows the ultimate aim of the consciousness as represented by the Moon. Your 6th house Pluto's ultimate purpose is to perfect your original nature. In Scorpio, this process is intense and not always easy.

With Pluto/Sun, this will manifest in conflicts surrounding personal power and authority. There are likely to be abandonment issues and the subsequent underlying fears. Loss will feel like death, and there are problems with learning how and when to let go. Connected to the Moon, this sensibility absorbs things deeply into the consciousness, becoming emotionally tenacious because of the basic insecurity and fear. When the Moon squares Pluto, there can be feelings that life itself is always under threat, and that the essentials of life can be taken away at any moment. Death, in a figurative sense, is always at the doorstep. With both the Moon and Sun connected to Pluto, these issues begin in childhood and are reflected in both parents, who could become the kind of powerful influence it is difficult yet necessary to overthrow. One can be inclined to become self-sufficient earlier than most -- at the very least, in an emotional sense, as the childhood experience is of being too intensely connected/dependent, and there may be a great need for breathing space. This need for establishing boundaries will continue to be prominent throughout the life, as one is destroyed and rebuilt again and again, particularly in terms of close relationships. Both the externals of the self (as defined by reality) and the internal consciousness will undergo intense re-birthing from time to time. This intense restructuring can lead to a life where periodic solitude is essential for development.

I hope that this is helpful in some way.

Thanks so much Chrissy!!!!!!!!! No one has ever mentioned a T-Square before. I know about astrology, but don't have much knowledge about the houses and T-Squares, etc. That part about "solitude" being necessary sometimes for development is very true. What about having 5 planets in the 6th house? I think all of my planets are on the right side of my chart too, all of them! Thanks again for your insight!!!!!!

SS,

Here is some good info on t-squares:

T-Square: This is an opposition with a planet which forms squares to both ends of it, a very challenging triangle. The opposition lends dilemma and the squares lend effort/crisis. With such a configuration, a strong energy is driving to break through, to overcome extreme limitations or challenges: the choice offered is hard work and breakthrough, or avoidance of the issue and breakdown. It is an imbalanced structure: the squared planet acts as an irritator, yet also it is the one with the solution. The point opposite this planet is often an area of life which must be attended to urgently or intensely, in order to create a fourth energy which balances the tension and makes for lift-off. The stress and apparent difficulty involved in this triangle makes for action, drive goaded by threat or pain, and at times knotty circumstances which arise where we unconsciously confound our own purposes, find obstructions, or make things laborious.

A major T-square in 1986 had Saturn opposition Chiron, with Jupiter in square to both, straddling the mutable signs: when Moon swung into Virgo, a temporary grand cross was formed too. A lot of effort was required to make progress in getting things to work: the answer in such cases is found in radical, yet pragmatic contextual shifts of viewpoint. This was about organisational perspectives and infrastructures. A time for decisions. Gorbachev and Reagan made a go at it, but the issues were very big, and the changes of viewpoint involved were threatening to become larger than either system they represented could handle. Yet, the concreteness of both Saturn and Chiron demanded real action, and they were precipitating forced solutions, through generating a growing awareness of the costs and disadvantages of carrying on in the old mode of big-power, Cold War rivalry. Jupiter in Pisces, at the apex of the T-square, introduced a visionary, overall 'what-are-we-doing-all-this-for?' undertone to the hard negotiations, bringing into focus both immediate practical issues, visionary possibilities and longterm basic questions.

****************************************

Incidentally, we have a pretty important t-square going on in the heavens right now: Saturn in Leo opposes Neptune in Aquarius, and this opposition is squared by Jupiter in Scorpio. That's enough there to render one mentally unstable! Especially for people this aspect configuration hits -- it hits my chart with a natal Venus/NN–Saturn square in middle fixed degrees.

Anyway, I'm glad I could be of some help. Your chart touched me, as I also have a natal Sun/Moon/Pluto t-square in mutable houses, and this has been something I deal with on a continual basis -- the handling of this energy, and learning how best to use the energies constructively. I recently had an epiphany regarding mine.

I highly recommend a book on aspects you can probably find here at Half Price Books...do you go there? I very much recommend it, they've got a great used astrology section. I actually recommend going to the one on NW Hwy in Dallas -- they have the best books. Anyway, the book is called "Aspects in Astrology" by Sue Tompkins. It's the best book on aspects out there. I found mine at Half Price.

I also recommend a good book on the houses, either Dane Rudhyar's "The Astrological Houses" or Howard Sasportas' "The Twelve Houses". These are the best at getting one to see the houses as a process.

In addition, I also have another recommendation -- the best astrology 101 book out there is Rob Hand's "Horoscope Symbols". I think the library may even have it, the public one located downtown FW.

One more -- Liz Greene's "The Astrology of Fate". This one will knock your socks off.

If you're interested, I have a full reading list I can send you via e-mail. It is one I received from my instructor for correspondence work. The books I mentioned should be a great start though, and plenty for you to get through for now.

Oh yes, about having 5 planets in the 6th: this just emphasizes all the more what I was saying about the 6th house -- these themes are very important for you. Remember that the house a planet is in shows the area of life that that planet's energies will be most evident. So there is a big focus on 6th house matters for you.

Have a good one!

I have Sun,Mercury, and Venus in Scorpio along with Moon in Pisces(square Neptune) and Mars in Aquarius.

I am not a conservative. I am very liberal. I believe that homosexuality is not wrong. To each, hisor her own. A lot of conservatives..especially conservative christians were against interracial relationships back in the day. Heck..a lot of them believed in slavery. Interacial marriages were illegal in USA for many years. That's why they came up with the one drop rule(if you have one drop of black blood, you're black and can't mix with white people). I don't believe in the one drop rule at all. I should be allowed to identify with all my ancestry and not just my black ancestry. I am the son of an interracial couple. My girlfriend is white too,and so I am in interracial relationship. I strongly believe in gay rights. I definitely believe in gay marriage. I feel that church and state should be separate. I also believe in reincarnation, and I don't believe that soul has gender. I believe that we had pastlives as other genders. I believe that it's possible that a homosexual couple might have been a heterosexual couple in pastlives. Also...in the homosexual couple...one of them might have been a different gender in pastlives. Also....there are scientific studies that show that homosexual men have a natural attraction to male scents and not female scents.

I really do believe that church and state should be completely separate. Not everybody in USA is a christian. I am definitely not.
My beliefs are Neopagan,New Age,and Unitarian Universalism. I am definitely very liberal as well as my girlfriend.

We don't want laws based on Christian values forced on us nor other people who are not Christian.

We both believe in death penalty though. We both think death is a lot better than rotting away in prison. My mother and I were also victims of violent crime. My mother was shot, and I was with her at the time. We could have been killed. The dude only got 12 yrs. He was a diagnosed schizophrenic. I have mixed beliefs about the criminal insane.

but yeah...I have strong Scorpio, and I am very liberal. It could be my Mars in Aquarius, but a lot of people were born with that placement. My Uranus is oriental and unaspected to any planet but it is also trine Midheaven. That might have something to do with being very liberal. I also believe that my Sun conj Black Moon Lilith has a part of it too. I think my Eris in 8th sextile Midheaven does too.

Of course, I was born in San Francisco a very liberal city. That's where my parents met. perfect place for an interracial couple to get together.

SavageScorpio -

The first thing I thought of to look at in your Chart (before I looked at it) was a lack of Aspects to Uranus. And you don't have any Major Aspects to Uranus.

It does sounds like Capricorn as well.. I have a Cap Moon/Mars/Neptune.

I am old fashioned when it comes to my own relationships and my own life.. I would never shove it down someone else's throat though.
I mean things like partying/drinking/going out/kissing people you've only just met etc.. things that my friends and most people in their late teens/twenties call 'fun'. It doesn't even slightly do it for me.

That's not to say I'm criticizing them. They should do what they enjoy doing, just saying I could never do it myself because it's not my thing and I couldn't find it fun even if I tried.
The things I see as fun are usually sporty things.. anything on the beach like volleyball or sailing, swimming.. or hiking.. something that actually feels healthy.. I can't find anything that feels unhealthy to me, such as being in a club for hours surrounded by alcohol and smoke as fun.. It puts me off. I hate that smell.

But my views about homosexuality/homosexual marriages are very liberal. I just don't believe someone's sexual preference is anyone else's business.. I don't understand why all the fuss.. It has nothing to do with *anyone* else.. The people involved are the ones having the relationship.

What if I decided to wear a cowboy hat every day of my life and fell in love with someone who also wore a cowboy hat every day of his life.. and walking down the street a person started yelling at us because they JUST don't like cowboy hats.. Wouldn't that be unfair?

Try to live and let live without judgement and preconceptions. You can live your life the way you want to.. but your way doesn’t have to be the only way or the best way for everyone else to live theirs also.

I don't think homosexuality is natural at all, but I think everyone should be allowed to live their life as they choose as long as they don't infringe on anyone else. The thing is about homosexuals, many protrude their life into other peoples, flamboyantly, I hate that.

I'm a Christian but I don't think we should allow prayer in schools, because that would infringe on other peoples beliefs. I'm very much against trying to change anyone, or make everyone be the same.

Earth and water signs are more conservative, while air and fire signs are more open to new things. Strong Saturn could be another indicator of conservatism.

Funny how several Christians declare that they accept death penalty, as Jesus most likely wouldn't. But then again more people have been killed in his name than for any other religion or political ideology, so maybe it shouldn't surprise me. But this is getting a bit off-topic, sorry...

I have strong water influence AND a very strong Saturn influence. I am not conservative.

I have Sun,Mercury, and Venus in Scorpio with Moon in Pisces. I am no way near conservative.I also have Virgo Ascendant.

I have retrograde Saturn as the handle of my bucket(the only planet in my northern hemisphere),Saturn in 9th conjunct the Midheaven(Gauquelin sector),Saturn square Moon,Saturn quincunx Sun,Saturn contraparallel Mercury,Saturn contraparallel Venus,Saturn oppose Neptune,Saturn contraparallel Neptune,Saturn trine Pluto

my very strong Saturn influence means that I am very reserved, serious and had a whole lot of discipline, structure in my life including having very strict, controlling parents as well as being in the navy where there is a whole lot of structure and strong emphasis on discipline, rules, regulations. My Saturn is in Gemini in 9th in t-square with Moon in Pisces in 6th and Jupiter-Neptune in Sagittarius in 3rd as well as Saturn contraparallel Mercury-Venus-Neptune parallel. This also indicates my Depression, shyness from insecurity and my history of special education,Dyslexia,Dyspraxia which involved receptive-expressive language and coordination problems which led me to be misunderstood and made me feel very inadequate intellectually and physically.

You have to see the whole chart.

I have an unaspected Uranus(which Noel Tyl calls peregrine)and it's oriental(It's the last planet rose before my Sun). It is also in 2nd house(unconventional values)trine my Midheaven(unconventional career, ambitions, goals. I have Mars in Aquarius in 6th(unconventional in daily routine). I have Sun conj true Black Moon Lilith with only 23 minutes of arc in 2nd house(and that's unconventional values too).

Noel Tyl said that when a planet is peregrine that it tends to run away with the horoscope. You says that it's a powerful planet. I definitely feel that's the case with my peregrine Uranus. I am an unconventional person, and I have never fit in society....whether it's my being in special ed in my early years,my Dyslexia/Dyspraxia,my my multiethnic ancestry, being born out of wedlock, being a male that doesn't fit the male stereotype.
