I use the Placidus [I think that's what it's called...] cause I figured the houses wouldn't naturally all be equal, would they ? But what do I know.

Just the facts,

I, too, use placidus, for the most part.
An occasional chart intuitively leads me to use koch instead.

As Rebekka implied--I do not consider equal house a valid system because I have never met anyone who gave equal attention to all 12 areas of life.

Placidus

Whilst I used equal most of my planets were in the 8th and now with placidus they are in the 7th....

Makes more sense somehow....

I've read that Koch is good (as a matter of precision). I use Placidus as well.

The only meaningful difference between the two with my chart is that my Uranus falls in the 5th under Koch, and under the 6th under Placidus. Both descriptions fit me.

The equal house system does change my chart drastically, which I feel fits. I looked to the astrologers I admired most such as Linda & Margaret Hone, and noticed that they all used the Equal system.

**copied from MSN's The Astrologers Forum***

The default is usually set to the most popular house system. www.astro.com has a default of Placidus as well. But if you go to www.astrodatabank.com you will see they use Equal house in their charts. This change to equal house was made in the last few years and I think that this site and others who have focused on the weakness of unequal house systems such as Placidus, Koch, and others have had some good effect in astrodatabanks change to equal.
As far as Placidus goes for many years the only widely available table of houses was in Placidus. Of course Astrology is about time but also about location on the earth. The time one is born and the location on the earth gives the Ascending degree in both equal and unequal house systems and in equal house the Ascending degree is what sets all the other house cusps. The time and location also sets the M.C. and I.C (directly opposite one another in the exact same degree). Unequal house systems generally break the circle into 4 sections of space with the Ascendant, descendant, M.C and I.C occuping the cusps of these sections and also forming the cusps of the 1st, 7th, 10th and 4th houses. In equal house the M.C. and I.C are not house cusps.
But this is all more complicted then necessary. To me it is simple to look at a Placidus chart that 'looses' six houses in high lattitudes and say that this or other unequal house systems cannot work in such situations and if they cannot work in some siturations then they are suspect in all situations unless they conform accidentally to the equal house cusps.

Ive begun to use the Equal house system...

Here is one of the discussions that convinced me.
http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/009795.html

There was another earlier one here at LL, which I can't find right now.

I used to use Placidus, and when I use Equal most of my chart moves down a house. Both interpretations work...but I think the Equal one makes a little more sense. Im still trying to feel it out though.

Equal or Placidus works just fine for me. It doesn't matter to me because either way my placements stay exactly the same.

Mine does the same as sueg's. I have 5 planets that change houses and also Vesta and the vertex changes houses. Equal and Koch are the same but placidus is way different.. Equal puts 9 planets and asteroids into the 8th.... I wouldn't know where to start trying to put that together?
It's a cluster.

Placidus for Natal, Synastry and Prediction.

Koch for higher latitude births.

Regiomontanus for Horary.
