I've been looking on the internet and there is a film of Steves death - including pulling the stingray barb out. They say it will not be released for public consumption - but stuff like this ALWAYS gets out.

I can't think of one beneficial reason to watch this video, other than sheer morbid curiosity. Please say you will not watch this if it comes out and encourage people you know not to watch it. (I'm sure some stupid website will have it). Out of plain old respect for Steve and his family and friends....

RIP Steve..I still can't believe it. I can't even watch the news coverage...makes me cry like a baby.

Steve Irwin:
Born: Feb 22
Died: Sept 4
Age: 44

I am not a Numerology expert but looks like a LOT of 4s to me! And 4 represents Death in some society.

Comments, anyone?

4 - the Karmic burden. But also a very solid number.

I personally wouldn't want to watch it, and probably most people wouldn't. But it was his wish to have the camera rolling at all times. So wouldn't he have wanted it to be shown..?

I heard that the footage had been ok'd, by his family, to be released,... and it would seem to make some sense. Personally, the interest/curiosity to watch anyone die escapes me, however, there are some who need things like this for the finality... for a closure. I have attended two open-casket funerals, one of which was for my dear friend's 5 week old daughter and, for me, this footage would bring about the same. The one exception would be that Steve was doing what he loved... spending time and sharing life with his kiddo, as well as the rest of us...
It is in this respect that I will personally hold Steve Irwin in memory. I'm grateful that I need nothing more... that I don't know such a need...
If indeed the footage has the approval, of Steve's family, and is aired, I would understand the 'why's' behind it, and if it does not, understanding would still exist.
I'm still trying to understand why it was his time to leave us at all.

^ It does seem so unfair that someone who was so good has to go this soon. As sad as it makes us all, all this grief will be channeled into continuing his cause. There are lots of people who knew who he was, but weren't really die-hard fans, and didn't watch his shows regularly...but now that he is gone, for some reason they feel this huge sense of loss, despite never having met him. Just knowing that someone like him is not in the world anymore, it feels a lot emptier. Those who feel this way (and there are many) will then feel compelled to do what they can to compensate for his loss, probably by donating to one of his funds, so that his work will continue to be carried out.

If he hadn't gone so soon, if he'd died at a ripe old age, peacefully in his bed, then there would not be such a great sense of loss and most people would not feel as compelled to further his cause. Or if he'd died wrestling a crocodile, then that would have destroyed a lot of what he'd worked for (getting people to love these creatures).

Someone up there must have decided that as sad as it would make us, it had to be now, and it had to be in this manner.

But still, it downright sucks for Terri and the kids. If I'm this bummed and I never even met him then I can't even begin to imagine how it must feel to have somebody with that much light suddenly sucked out of one's life. I just hope she was prepared enough.
