If thought of as a group or level of our evolution, do you think that our personalities first start out as the whole of our House Cusps?

Or do you think it's easier to adjust to our "Cusp personality" than it is to adjust to the "Planetary personality"? Do you think that would be so in equal parts in one's lifetime?

The structure of the house wheel most obviously refers to our original environment. Notice that it is figured from the time and place, hence the environment. So then it refers to a kind of foundation from which we can grow. Self realization is the process of discovering the difference between who we were born to be and who we were conditioned/trained/educated to be.

Example: Venus, by sign and aspects, will show what is really valuable to us, while the second house is what we are taught to regard as valuable. They may or may not overlap or agree.

Do you suggest doing a Comparison Chart between a House Wheel compared to a Planetary Chart? At what points in a Chart can you find any level of objectivity between the two?

Example: Someone has 7th House issues, all the Planets seem to be a really harsh challenge to the Natal person. Looking at a House Wheel may help, example, finding new or hidden energies at work?

But where in all of this would you be able to find a place where one can be at a point of being "witness" in their own lives?

Not sure what you are asking.
In every full reading I do, I look at who the client is--and would be in any time or place, then compare it to how the environment influenced the person. I then discuss what conditioning is working and what needs "rewriting", or adjustment, to make life work better for the client, often including exercises to help in the process.

I don't use two charts, just read "between the levels."

P.S. If you have a lot of 7th house issues, the place to begin is to see the signs and planets in the seventh as the "not-me" part of the self-image.

Our self-image is composed of what we are called, and/or comments about us that are verbalized, or sometimes subliminally suggested, by older family memebers, especially parents. (Compare this to your Sun, which is the real you. A closer meaning of the Ascendant is what you "look like"...the impression you make, your aura.)

The Ascendant and 1st house show how we learn to describe "me" and the Descendant and 7th are what we learn as "not me". We then project it on significant others, attracting what we think is missing in us. It is not really missing, but only "behind our back," where it is not visible in the "mirror" of relationship.

You can take this a step farther to 2-8, which are "mine" and "not-mine."

Approaching your chart in this way, can tell you about the "foundation" of your life--and whether your foundation needs repairs to permit easier personal and spiritual growth.

AJ - that's a fantastic thought!

How about if our experiences in life are in a counterclock-wise position - say you are a leo sun - if the house ruler of leo is the 5th house, your first experience may be 5th house like, then 6th house, then 7th house, then 8th house.

try it for yourself and see if it makes sense. what did you come up with? sound right?

Gosh , thanks for putting some more thought into it.

I think I understand what you are saying, but it's not quite what I'm thinking. Maybe in terms of style of interpretation, if you look at both in the same way.

So if you approach the millionth Natal Chart you've studied intending to interpret it, that you attempt to do the same thing to a House Cusp grid.

Perhaps the Planet's personalities do not fully know themselves when we are very young, so that we are more reactive to a House Cusp & Sign connection alone. The Planets are still at the very core, but they represent facets of our psychology which we continue to integrate.

Along those lines ...

Well i believe that the cusp personality begins at birth (for example AC, IC, DC, MC), and when an person has become evolutionary (growing) then the planets affect the cusps which we have developed since childhood. Its apart of a persons developmental psychology.

Yeah, like that. You've got it down even more pinpointed! That does make sense, doesn't it? Perhaps Signs which influence an "old soul" about them begin to integrate into those 4 Points at an earlier age (???? - makes you go hmmmmmm)
