Which of these two indicates how you approach a potential partner or what your courtship patterns are?

What other indicators would you use?

E.G. Scorpio Sun and Capricorn asc. - would this man be passionate, headstrong and quick to make a move or slow, steady, measured?

Thanx in advance

I read that females would use their venus to attract someone they like, while the male uses his mars.

For instance, a female with venus in Libra would start showing her romantic side; sagittarius the fun, adventurous philosophical side.

A male would use his mars. Let's say Mars in Scorpio.. he would behave sexily and show much intensity.

For the EG, I think Capricorn ascendants are slow and steady and a bit serious regarding relationships, but also passionate as the Scorpio sun indicates. Since these two are sextile, there might not be much conflict between asc and sun.

Regarding ASC or venus, I think it's both, but moreso venus in an intimate relationship. ASC is a sort of what they are to those they aren't close to.

*my 2 cents

I read about that theory, and I loved it, until I met some gay men.
What do I tell them? They don`t fit in into this theory, since they are not really looking for women.

I rather think that Venus shows whom and what we are attracted to, regardless of man or woman.

Thanx Atlenta & DD - I maybe missing the point of your input (sorry if I am) but I was thinking more about the period before the relationship - how would a person's chart show how they would approach a potential mate rather then who they are attracted to, how would they show that attraction
Geez I hope I'm making sense, I'm confusing myself now trying to explain

My understanding it that:

* venus is used to attract someone we want (but particularly used by females or at least stronger in females);
* mars is our sexual style and what we use to attract sexually (and in particular is used by males or is at least stronger in males);
* venus is the type of women we like (regardless if it is for hetero-, homosexual relationships or platonic relationships)
* mars is the type of men we like (regardless if it is for hetero-, homosexual relationships or platonic relationships)

Thanx 23 - so let me see if I'm getting what u'r saying...
To see how a guy projects himself towards someone he's attracted to i.e. his flirting style, you would check out which sign/house his mars is in, yes?

Cat - yes I think so, but also a bit of venus as well. I forgot that venus is about romance and a bit about flirting. But I would overall look to his mars to see how he does it.

I agree with everyone here, especially what 23 writes here---My understanding it that:
* venus is used to attract someone we want (but particularly used by females or at least stronger in females)
My Venus is in Taurus so I use FOOD glorius food...
* mars is our sexual style and what we use to attract sexually (and in particular is used by males or is at least stronger in males); My Mars is Gemini, so I am verbose and use thinking and communication in my sexual style...lol
* venus is the type of women we like (regardless if it is for hetero-, homosexual relationships or platonic relationships) My man has his Venus in Sagittarius, I can see why he'd be attracted to me....I'm the outdoor, almost bohemian type, and very unglamourous.....
* mars is the type of men we like (regardless if it is for hetero-, homosexual relationships or platonic relationships) My Mars is in Gem, My man is outgoing, stimulates me intellectually....knowledgable

What other indicators would you use?
Mars I think is important in sex aspects, Venus in attraction....

E.G. Scorpio Sun and Capricorn asc. - would this man be passionate, headstrong and quick to make a move or slow, steady, measured?
I haven't much experience with the Cap ascending males, however Scorp males are my Sun Opposite, they exude sex, so usually they attract me, but I know they're the devil

Technically other things we should look to is also sun and moon. Sun shows also the type of men we like (regardless of relationship type) and moon shows type of women (regardless of relationship type).

Cat71 - no probs, best thing to do is just get on the net and read a lot of articles. You just need time to digest and expose yourself to multiple sources and then apply it to yourself to test it out.

katipo - "...Scorp males... they exude sex, so usually they attract me" - oh me too!
Thanx for your input too

23 - thanx for the info and advice

So applying to myself - I have Venus in Libra in 5th house - I flirt by smiling alot, looking and smelling good and buying little meaningful gifts. Also, i don't know if this is connected to my Venus, but I listen hard and if a guy I like says he likes a certain type of music, for example, I let him 'catch' me listening to the same music or reading a book by his favourite author That's so superficial and calculating isn't it - guilty grin

Yes Cat, I guess those characteristics would be venus in libra - you use beauty and artistic means in attracting someone.

I think there was another thread on this. Its where the female uses her venus to attract her heart's desire and the man uses his mars. That I can tesify to.

What about a woman with a strong Mars and a not so strong Venus, can it go topsy tirby?!

Dulce - if u know the other link I'd be interested
Libraschoice - makes sense to me, but I'm still learning

So what about this, man with Mars in Sag but in the 12th?
Mars in Sag would suggest a certain amount of spontaneity right? - but 12th house suggests restrictions?
So would his natural tendency towards sponaneity in flirting be restricted?

LC7 - the woman would still have some power in venus and attract via that means but she would also have a strong mars which might mean she is highly sexed.

Just because things are afflicted or in detriment/fall doesn't mean that they don't exist, just means that it might not be expressed in the best way or in an appropriate way maybe. Eg venus in sco squ ura might mean someone who expresses their ability to attract in a complicated and sexual fashion (venus is about love and romance not sex as such) in an erratic, perverse manner.

Mars in Sag in 12th means that the man would attract via a humourous philosophical way, he might be quite liberal in the sense that he doesn't like to be tied down. 12th house indicates where he is likely to express this - eg think of 12th house (piscean institutions) (hospitals etc) for a very literal interpretation or like was said, in a restrictive way of some sorts - eg in isolation, quiet or reflective moments.

12th house is also in the top LH quadrant (SE qudrant) and concerns also self-absorption because of this. There might be a self-absorbtive quality about it and inwardness.

23 - now that made sense to me with regards to this man - 'hit the nail on the head' comes to mind!
Now couple this with Venus in Capricorn 12th - it's all beginning to come together *sigh*

thanx again

Your original query sounded like you were more interested in "action" rather than "attraction". But the "Venus & Ascendant" aren't really the best indicators of that, they have more to do with what OTHERS see in you.

If there was an attraction to someone, how you act or assert yourself has much more to do with a "Sun, Venus and Mars" grouping, or else it's more of a passing hello.

Interesting in a recent thread on Ascendant descriptions, the one for Scorpio says this placement tends to overtake the entire Chart, I tend to agree with that. In the same way I agree with the interpretation on Libra Ascendant, in that this placement is very much colored by the Chart itself.

So it all has to be measured and taken into consideration. Your original query was a little confusing, so I hope you got some clarity on what you were looking for.

AJ - thank you
Yes, I know my first post here was a little confusing, I could see that myself for some reason my brain wouldn't string the words together in the right way to ask what I meant. You are right though I was talking more about the 'action' rather then the 'attraction'
Like I said in answer to 23 about my Venus in Libra and the things I do to show someone I care about them, so yes, the question was more focused on 'what does a person DO to show their feelings for another' (does that make sense?) and how does this show in their chart.
Which is why I asked about the Ascendant - as this is how you appear to the world/public, yes? So then I thought a guys Ascendant would be a strong indicator on how he would approach someone he liked, what things he would DO to show his feelings - as not all guys just come out and say 'would you go on a date with me' and in this age of equality it's nice to know what are the signs that someone likes you so that you are reassured in making the first move publicly - Oh God I'm rambling again - agh!

ME
sun:cancer
moon:taurus
venus:leo
mars:scorpio
asc: aquarius

MY MAN:
sun:gemini
moon:capricorn
venus:cancer
mars:gemini
asc:gemini

i think that since my guy s venus is in cancer...he s naturally attracted to me..and my venus attracts me to his gemini side...also my venus and his mars are compatible since its air and fire and my mars and his venus are also compatibile since they are both in water signs.
