I've wondered this same question. Like you, I wanted to know how and why certain planets were assigned to certain signs. I also wonder if it isn't a self-fulfilling prophecy at times with some people. The one thing I do know: The planets, equinoxes and eclipses do have an effect upon us since we are all made of matter and tons of water. IP: Logged |

I think it is a great topic. Nothing wrong with being philosophical. Maybe you have a sagg transit going on? I can relate to the no love life stuff, but back to the topic at hand...I've heard that astrology was actually part of the christian religion a long time ago, and that the sistine chapel even has astrological and/or tarot symbols painted upon it, but I don't know if this is true or not. I should really research it. Apparently, a lot of astrology was lost due to the church's oppression of it. I would LOVE to know what their theories were. It would explain a lot about why certain planets went to certain signs. I agree that it seems arbitrary, and that maybe people latch onto traits, because they think they should be that way. At the same time, one has to identify with traits to think it sounds like them...the whole chicken or the egg conundrunm, right! But, there are people who know nothing about their sign or chart and really do epitomize the traits, even when they are very specific and not at all generalized, so it is an interesting problem to ponder. quote: As I am a psychologist, I am particularly interested in the particular light the horoscope sheds on certain complications in the character. In cases of difficult psychological diagnosis, I usually get a horoscope in order to have a futher point of view from an entirely different angle. I must say that I have very often found that the astrological data ellucidated certain points which I otherwise would have been unable to understand.Astrology is assured of recognition from psychology without further restrictions because Astrology represents the summation of all the psychological knowledge of antiquity. ~ Carl G.
