I'm having some confusion here. Different natal charts I've looked at give me different house positions for my sun sign. Help??

DOB 7-10-59
Time 7:32 a.m.
Place - Portland, Oregon

Usually I'm told my sun is in the 11th house, but I've had several that say it's in the 12th. When I compare, I can find truths about myself in both. Just curious if this happens alot?

Thanks ~

Sandy

Hi Kitty

I always thought most of my planets were in 8th house....because I had used the equal house system. Then a friend of mine looked at my chart and he said they were in the 7th cos he used Placidus which meant only one of my planets was in the 8th....

I actually think the 7th house fits because my lessons are more often than not learned through the partner and because I have been married three times, that house seems fitting somehow!

Hope this helps!

I just did a quick in astro.com and they came up with 11th house sun...what do you think you are?

Sun in the 11th - Sun in the eleventh house

With the Sun's energy in the Eleventh House your personality drive will express itself mainly through friendships and group activities - perhaps in social or cultural reform, or as a manager of a social institution. You are advised to develop a cultured and refined personality.

Sun in the 12th - Sun in the twelfth house

With the Sun in the Twelfth House your energy will mainly be applied to personal and private affairs. This may give you a shy, reserved, introspective disposition. There is a tendency to seek a secluded, peaceful, quiet life-style. The real drive is one of coming to terms with the subconscious mind and achieving mental and emotional well-being. Subjects such as mysticism, psychic research and depth psychology will appeal. A desire for useful service to the community may be fulfilled through work in hospitals, churches or institutions of leaning, professions such as psychology, art and literature are other possibilities. At some stage of your life you may have to overcome some form of physiological, social, or psychological crisis.

Using Equal Houses system vs. Placidus would move my Mars and Uranus from 2nd to 1st House, Moon from 4th to 3rd and Jupiter from 8th to 7th. I think I relate to Placidus Houses a lot more.

My brother has a conjunction of Mars/Jupiter/Pluto/Uranus which is is 5th House according to Equal and in 6th House according to Placidus. I would say it makes quite a difference.

Sue, it does help. I'm very interested in all of these things, but alas, am pretty much a newbie as far as aspects, etc.

The first time I was told my sun was in the 12th and then read the information on that I just thought "This I recognize". 11th house is a little cheerier to think about, but 12th really hit it the nail on the head.

Sue, this is me. It's been a struggle because I get impatient and want to "get it" right now without all this fussing around, but when I give in and start settling down and looking inside, amazing changes always follow. Not saying I'm there yet, but it's been a continuous learning through excavation process. I get tired of plodding through "mud" when I want to get on dry land and just skip for awhile! The prize is getting to know and trust my own little self. My other planets in the 12th are Mercury and Uranus

The more I read the more fascinated I become with the 12th house. I found this and thought it would be interesting to share:

12th house & the karmic wheel of crap
— isthmus nekoi

Something my father always told me, ever since I was an itty bitty girl was that “life’s not fair". Which I’m glad of b/c it’s helpful to remember this as a small child when everyone else is telling you that being “good” will get you the reward, the gold star or whatever, and that being “bad” will result in punishment and ostracization etc.

I’ve heard karma described very similarly. If you do bad things in life, they’ll come back to bite your ass. If you’re good, someday that will come back to you. This is partly true, but implies that good things happen to good people, and we all know that isn’t remotely true. So for a long time, I had a very low opinion of karma. Now a while back, my bf described karma to me in a different way and finally the concept clicked:

Imagine karma is like a river and all along the river in different spots, people have set up wheels to turn the water. Some people are in calm areas, others turbulent, some shallow, some deep, and so on. Now some happen to work with fresh, clear water and others find their wheels bring up murky water where a lot of waste has collected. This is the 12th house.

12th house people - esp those with personal planets placed there - will find their waters murky and full of debris, clouded with things people do not want or have long forgotten about. If you want a psychological perspective, this means you draw in projections of values most fear or repress. A person may even develop hooks to grab negative projections from others… So 12th house people must learn to sift and filter through that water if they are to do anything useful with it. This can be very challenging work, and it is no surprize many buckle under the pressure where they may very well end up embodying the garbage they’re dredging up. This may be why 12th has long been associated with prisons, institutions and confinement.

Now some of these 12th house wheels are more benign, and some happen upon very polluted areas so the 12th house experience is unique to an individual. However, what will come with every 12th house is the garbage, and also, the gold. Because the 12th house moves beyond consciousness, it grants access to more than just repressed values but to perspectives and stories most are not even aware of and could not even dare to imagine… one may encounter all manner of wonderous and terrifying things that will remain hidden to most people most of their lives… Now everyone will have a taste of 12th when a transiting or progressed planet activates that house or its ruler. But with 12th house natal placements, you have a direct pipeline to the collective unconscious, all the time.

Thanks for that info CrabbyKitty, I have my Sun and Jupiter in the 12 house and my moon in Pisces... I can totally relate to what you were writing. I am always connected to the unconscious. I know things about people without even talking to them. I know if someone is good or bad right away. I also know about the continual crises that seem to plague us. I think I've been through more turmoil in my 29 years that most peope have survived at 80!

Mercurial, this morning I got this link from Dulce Luna regarding h12 in Uranus, but you should go there and read about sun in 12th. It was amazing to me how well it described how I grew up. Very much a loner, never allowed to stand out in any way at home, and very introverted. My life has done a complete turnaround in the last 15 years. I'm 47 now and don't even recognize that person I used to be.

I know I'm very intuitive, and like you I usually have in instant reaction to people. I also find that, in the course of a day, I may have a sudden and extreme emotional swing , happy or sad, and then find out later that someone close to me has had something happen or made a decision that would warrant that reaction in me.

That all being said, I can't pick a man to save my life, so apparently my "instant reaction" to people isn't always the CORRECT reaction!
