So I've been reading information about grand trines/kites. i'm not reading many good things, a lot of it has to do with the fact that people with grand trines don't even realize the potential that they have, or go through life easily.

i have a grand trine in pluto in scorpio in the 2nd trine mercury in pisces in the 5th trine my midheaven in cancer, which is trine with pluto.

that grand trine is also a kite, with neptune in capricorn in the 4th house sextile mercury and pluto.

i'm not sure what all of this is suggesting, just a small hunch. does anyone else have grand trines/kites, and is it easy not to use the energy in its fullest?

I have one of these: air grand trine with a Chiron in Aries making it a kite. However, in your case, you technically do not have one, unless a planet in on your midheaven. Aspect configurations cannot include angles or cusps, as these are calculated points (so too nodes, vertex, parts, and Black Moon Lilith). Calculated points do not emit energy themselves - they only influence energy. Only bodies emit energy: major and minor planets, asteriods, ad to a much lesser extents, fixed stars. Aspect configurations are unique collectives of energy, and so points can't count. If you have a minor planet or an asteriod on your midheaven, then yes, it would form a grand trine/kite.

However, take all that "grand trines are lazy" talk with a grain of salt. It's often written by superficial observers, or worst, people parroting what they read somewhere else.

Truth is grand trine are very powerful, and yes they may be difficult to express. The rason isn't laziness, but but it gives the collective energies an insular, self-contained manner of expression. Many grand trine native are very self-relient or detached (or try to be) for this reason. We often go about our lives having an intense inner lives but not feeling the pressing need to express these energies in a more outward fashion. We have to make the choice to do that.

When a planet forms a kite with a grand trine there's more outward-moving impetus. The plent within the grand trine that in opposing acts as an apex, an point of ourward-moving expression. The out-ward-moving expression of the overall configuration will likely take the flavor of that apex planet.

I'm having some trouble understanding mine. I have a grand water trine: moon in Scorpio, Mars in Pisces, Saturn in Cancer forming an equilateral triangle; and Mercury in Taurus gives it a kite formation. How do I interpret this?

I feel your dilemma. I have a grand kite in water with pluto virgo at the apex. I think water is more difficult to interpret since it's fairly vague. I'm constantly re-evaluating what the significance is - since the possibilities are many.I started several topics in the past and i ran across another a few pages back that had some great links. I'll see if I could hunt the pages up.
Good Luck

I have a grind trine between Mars in Aries, Saturn in Leo and Neptune in Sagittarius.. Bob Marks has a nice lesson on grand trines which is kind of helping me understand what's going on in this kind of formation. He mentions the potential for laziness but also shows how they can benefit the individual, especially when aspected with other formations like the T cross. http://www.bobmarksastrologer.com/GrandTrine15.2.htm

Hi guys,

I have a grand trine/kite within my chart, balanced by a double set square.

The grand trine is Venus Aries, Neptune Sag, Saturne Leo, and the kite is Pluto in Libra.

I see the energy of a grand trine, being like an autobarn. The energy flows easily, nothing blocking the progress. The trouble can start when it goes too fast, and possbily spins out of control. Usually though there is another planet forming a square aspect to one of the planets in the grand trine, that acts as an ancor.

I think the planets involved form important information about the grand trine (a trine by the power of 3). Where there is a kite pattern, the axis of opposite signs acts as an axis, which can be difficult, but actually aids in a grounding force. Again depends on the planets (and houses) involved.

A very powerful aspect, where the 'lazy' tag comes from is where a chart has no (or very few) negative aspects (squares or oppositions), or hard placements (eg Mars in Libra, Saturn in 1st house etc).

I think you're right about a square helping out. My sun/mercury Cancer conjunction is squared to my Jupiter Aries 9th house. Most progress in my life has been made by taking chances in the area of education/college and a brief gig as a teacher (I wasn't very good, but I learned ALOT!) I think travel to places outside of the US would also be helpful. If I didn't have this aspect I think I would be content doing nothing for the rest of my life.
Sometimes I feel that the Virgo Pluto at the tail of my kite is a pain in the _ss. What a nit picky, prudish control freak - it's causing all sorts of problems with my beautiful Pisces moon. It's far too practical for my innate creative and artistic abilities. I think it's held me back with this critical demanding voice. Worrying about money and security ...How do I deal with this 2nd house tyrant?

Mars 13 Aqu 02
Jupiter 10 Lib 17

I second INLoveWithLife's question.

Does anyone know when looking at chart pattern formations how small the orb has to be? And if both sides of one axis can be including in forming a pattern? What about out of sign?

For example;
In synastry

Libra 29 Sun
Cancer 0 Vertex
Pisces 3 Nadir
- this example has one out of sign planet and an orb of 4 degrees. Two axis points that would form two different kites (if they can be included). Actually my Jupiter at 29 Aries would form a star..I guess.

Oh! To reference back to OP's topic. I know I do have a Earth Trine in Earth Houses. I heard its suppose to "bring an abundance of wealth" so far, no luck. I agree with it being a type of energy we dont know how to access, that or the theory that things come so easy that we dont put in the effort to make them worth.

At best I think a water trine would aid to the person having intuitive/psychic abilities. Or make a good counselor.

Does anyone feel that people with Grand Air Trines are lazy? Do you have any friends with these aspects?

I have a friend with a Grand Air/Water Trine; i can't remember the planets though but I remember that her Grand Trine perfectly fits the talents I noticed on her.
I wouldn't say she is lazy but she has this "if it happens its gonna be happen"-attitude. No push, no ambitions.
I have a Grand trine involving the mc (I know that some say you don't count angles but I disagree) and Pluto (which conjuncts my IC) forms the kite. You can read this as follows: my professional destination will be fulfilled if I solve my dark childhood issues and since its a kite I do everything to make this happen

What is better a grand kite in synastry with a challenging (sun opposite Uranus) composite.

Or a very challenging synastry Saturn t squares to venus and sun and a kite in composite.
