Hi all,

I got my neuropsychological test report just recently. I was pleased with the
overall process. I feel completely vindicated and my learning
disabilities are validated.

the first page said.

This 34 yr old right handed male was referred for a neuropsychological
examination to better delineate his cognitive function. He has a
history of Dyslexia, auditory processing problems, and depression. he
scored 29/30 on the MMSE,missing 1/3 items at delay recall. This score
is within normal limites. A battery of neuropsychological tests was
administered. Scores ranged from high average to impaired. He
performed very well on visual construction as measured by block design
which is consistent with his assessment of himself as a very visual
thinker. However, immediate visual memory was in the impaired range as
compared with his peers. Motor speed appeared to hamper his
performance on several tests, but problems with auditory processing
were less obvious. Full report to follow.

There is so much, but I am not going to type all. So I am just going
to tell you about summary and recommendations.

SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS:

Mr Andrews scored within normal limits on most tests in a battery of
neuropsychological tests.
His area of greatest strength was in visual construction problems
tested with block design. He was in the high average range on this
subtest. He also scored in the high average range on list generation
to a sound cue. Both of these tasks require complex and strategic
thinking and suggest he has some well-developed mental skills. His
lowest score was on immediate memory for visual material. The
difficulty appeared to be on organizing and encoding the information,
as he retained most of what he had learned after a delay. he had
similar difficult with immediate memory for verbal material. This
performance was in the borderline range, but also improved with a
delay. His other borderline score was in sentence repetition. This may
reflect a problem with auditory processing as it requires
word-for-word responses. Limited auditory processing could also have
impacted verbal memory for narrative,as he did better with the repeated
single word trials on the CVLT. Nonetheless, Mr Andrews should be
assured that he has learned to cope with his childhood learning
problem and should feel confident about his ability to think through
problems outside of the speeded academic settings where he has
experienced failures. This statement is not intended to convey that he
does not continue to experience these difficulties, but that he has
learned effective ways to cope with them when he is not stressed.

1. Mr. Andrews should be encouraged to find ways to make better use of
his strong visual spatial skills whether through a hobby or some other
outlet.
2. Mr. Andrews should consider seeking to establish as trusting
relation with a mental health professional. He articulates his
problems with self-esteem,sensitivity,and reactivity well. His
childhood problems in school and with a difficult family situation
that provides him with little emotional support combine to make him
vulnerable to recurring episodes of depression and professional
support would be useful for him.

Finally my learning disabilities have been validated. My being a
visual outside the box thinker has been recognized and acknowledged.
My being a compensated learning disabled person has been finally
documented. That makes me feel a lot better about myself. Being
understood helps with my depression. I feel that I can finally rest in
peace and can move on with my life and have a new beginning. I
recently called Veteran Affairs mental health clinic. I feel that I can
trust mental health professionals now. All I have to do is show them
my neuropsychological testing, and they will understand that I have
learning disabilities and I am intelligent and not stupid with a
psychotic thought disorder. I have an appt on December 13th for
orientation there. I also have an appt on December 11th for neurology
follow-up. All this was done for free because I am a military veteran.
I am very fortunate to be able to get so much help without having to
pay. I wish the same for everybody.

my neuropsychologist exam report http://people.tribe.net/2e0a4c30-b134-49f8-ba74-0990f36b0a5f/photos

I want to help raise awareness of learning disabilities and show how
learning disabled people really are as well as the challenges that they
have had as well as the strengths that they possess. I wanted to show
how they can be misdiagnosed too. Also that early intervention therapy helps but it
doesn't cure. It remediates that we can be a competent to a certain
degree. I wanted to show the hard to pin down, misunderstood
intelligence that we possess and which cannot be truly measured by any
tests including especially IQ tests which are actually designed more
for leftbrained/wholebrained types. Those tests don't work for
rightbrained people including especially people with autism.

I plan to spend the rest of my life helping and inspiring others who have learning disabilities like me...especially children who could be in danger of being misdiagnosed as having conditions which could stem from frustration, low self esteem, and pure ignorance of others. I want to be a lifetime member of International Dyslexia Association and Dyspraxia USA organization to support my fellow Dyslexics and Dyspraxics. An irc(internet relay channel for people with neurodivergent conditions is something that I want to start. As an astrologer, I would like to help other learning disabled people understand their strengths and weaknesses by reading their charts, and I definitely want to do that with parents when it comes to their children. I want to always do their astrology readings and reports for free. I have been doing that. I don't see myself doing public speaking due to being very shy. Astrologically researching learning disabilities is something that I want to do. I won't be writing books about learning disabilities, but maybe I will write a few articles about them. Of course,I will need serious proofreading because my organization does suck despite my Virgo Ascendant. My t-square of Moon in Pisces in 6th square the opposition of retrograde Saturn in Gemini in 9th and Jupiter-Neptune in Sagittarius in 3rd indicates that I am very disorganized and is my main astrological indicator for my Dyslexia,Dyspraxia, and special education, and lack of higher education as well as learning things the hard way. My Virgo Ascendant indicates my compensation for my Dyslexia,Dyspraxia by minimizing mistakes and doing my best to do things correctly, analyzing, and improving myself to avoid from being seen as stupid by other people which has happened to me throughout my life. I feel that my main life purpose is to always be of service to others by helping my fellow learning disabled, neurodivergent people,Dyslexics, and Dyspraxics as always as being tolerant of diversity. That fits with Virgo in 12th which is the release point of my t-square. This could also correlate with my being a wounded healer - Chiron in Aries in 8th sextile Midheaven in Gemini and North Node in Aquarius in 5th. I am a trained in massage therapy and interested in holistic health.

Glaucus, The beauty of life doesn't lie in what we are but what we do to bring a positive change in the society we live and how much we are useful to it. I appreciate your aspirations and wish you all your dreams come true.

I can only imagine what this means to you... All I wanted to say is that I'm really happy for you, even though I don't know you and we didn't talk much here on LL, but you seem a very, very nice person. This probably doesn't mean much to you, but I wanted to congratulate you and wish you much happiness and many, many accomplishments! I admire you for wanting to share your wisdom and help others deal with their conditins.

Glaucus -

How marvelous and completely courageous of you to share this. Correct me if I'm wrong, but these specific types of challenges does nothing to hamper one's intuition of themselves, although I wouldn't know if it is easier or more difficult to be in touch with one's intuition since the brain is adapting and compensating.

I know with all the huge intuitive emphasis in my Chart, sometimes I think I just close it all off from my conscious awareness (for whatever reason).

I am rightbrained person any way,and so intuition is a natural strength of mine. Actually too rightbrained, and that's the problem. The neuropsychologist even said that people with strong visual skills who lack comparable verbal facility can often be frustrated because they have difficulty communicating their ideas in a highly verbal society. That's definitely me...especially when I had speech problems in early childhood and was getting speech therapy in special education. I am not primarily a verbal thinker. I am primarily a picture thinker. I think in pictures/visualize nonstop. I guess that I am a feeling thinker. My Mercury-Venus conjunction in Scorpio in 3rd as well as my Mercury parallel Neptune and Mercury conj Sun/Neptune midpoint.

I didn't understand myself until I got into Astrology in 1998,and so I use Astrology to help others understand themselves. I didn't know about being Dyslexic,Dyspraxic until 2003. Before that,I just thought I was stupid.

I feel that the Pisces Moon in 6th square Neptune in 3rd indicate the confusion and uncertainty about myself. Moon square Saturn and Sun quincunx Saturn indicate my underestimating myself as well as my history of low self esteem.

Yeah, I'm more right-brained although I have those 3rd & 6th House adaptations to make as well - I guess, meaning that we are very prone to overanalyzation, however, cannot put a stamp on it fast enough to keep up with it, therefore, unable for oral speech to keep up with the mind.

I don't know how much credence you give to the basic Myers-Briggs Personality Types, but I did this (long) test twice in my life. Once when I was in my 20's, it came out as Introverted along with a more analytical edge. As I matured, did it again and still Introverted, but there was more of a feeling edge to it, as if I had become more comfortable with my Cancer Moon (3rd) and Scorpio Stellium (6th).

My Libra Sun and Cancer Moon are not Squared by Degree.

As a writer, the words appear or arrive to me either melodically (originating from beats & rhythms), or visually (seeing each letter or word visually).

Glaucus, I noticed your birth information. You are exactly 38 hours and 26 minutes older then me. Pretty cool. I'm glad you got validation from the report.
