With synastry and composite charts which tends to carry the most significance in relationship harmonies. Obviously good charts in both is ideal but what if two people have a potent/healthy level of synastry but a rather challenging composite or vise-versa. Will one override the other? Or does poor synastry mean real strife and the relationships likely failure regardless of a good composite? And likewise does good synastry conquer all?...

I'd prefer a harmonious synastry myself. Synastry has been used for many years. A composite is a recent invention, and is devised by midpoints, and some astrologers don't believe that it's a real chart because of that. Some astrologers actually use Davison chart which has to do with time and space.

My synastry with my girlfriend is harmonious overall, but our composite is mixed.

Some astrologers use midpoints in synastry...those are mainly the cosmobiologists and uranian astrologers.

Free will is the ultimate factor.

Cheers so far for the feedback...i tend to find views in astrology often differ as to which is the most significant. I have posted this topic under 'soul unions' as well and already different views are emerging...all VERY VERY interesting!

From what I understand of the two, a composite chart can't really change or be adjusted to in the way that synastry can. So I'd rather have a harmonious composite for our overall relationship and personal challenges in the synastry than challenges that come just from us being together in the composite.
