Dear Astro Junkie --

I know you & I have talked briefly about Uranus before, and I wanted to share something I came across recently with you. You've got a prominent Uranus in the 4th conjunct your NN and it's your SN ruler, right? My Uranus is prominent, too - on the AC opposite Mercury/Chiron on the DC. And it's my NN ruler.

So I was reading over the archives on this EA site I check and I came across a passage about Uranus as it relates to trauma. I'm going to copy & paste the relevant bits for you & others to read.

"Jeffrey Green contends that Uranus, Aquarius and the eleventh house are dependable signatures of past-life trauma. He is insistent on that. It is through the projective qualities of the eleventh, Uranus’ capacity to shock, and Aquarian critical distance that I am arriving at the sense that the separation that the self attempts to create in order to establish 'objective' distance is the very thing that brings about the projection of the repressed elements of the soul, experienced as facts out there in the world. When one cuts oneself off from what is being experienced, a certain clarity does arrive, but at the risk of that clarity being colored deeply by whatever content of your soul you have not dealt with. It is my growing belief that Uranus, Aquarius and the 11th house constitute projected reality, an 'objectivity' that stems from the past-life trauma of the soul."

"...the concept arrived as an attempt to reconcile JWG's insistence that Uranus on the SN natally is indicative of past-life trauma in 100% of the cases. This is a very strong statement. He goes on to say that any heavy aspecting of the Uranus archetype (house/sign/planet) is such an indication as well. Obviously Uranus has a shadow in his mind. I believe that this shadow is parallel to Neptune's capacity for delusion. Neptune is not delusion in itself. So it goes for me Neptune = delusion/transcendence, Uranus = project/perception. These of course are experimental constructs.

I suggest that when analyzing a chart that an aspected 11th or Uranus might be a place to look for clues to the nature of the repressed material. This quality of Uranus does not preclude all of the other ones...of epiphany, enlightenment, shock...or the 11th house being the house of friends, groups and society."

From above link:

"As I understand it Uranus represents the archetype of trauma. Which doesn't mean that other planets can't cause trauma, just that the Uranian archetype explains and represents trauma, the dissociation, the long term memory, the effect on the electrical nervous system, the way the synapses are connected, etc. So the Aquarian archetype in the chart shows a composite of the types of traumas and how they are being stored/operate."

"...Unresolved traumas can be triggered subconsciously without us being aware of the mechanism because it happens so fast, like Uranian lightning. The whole nervous system may react and it may seem as though the original trauma is happening all over again. And often there are disproportional reactions. Chiron is the fallout. If I'm unaware of how a past trauma is subconsciously distorting my percpetion of reality then I will project (Uranus) that dynamic and constantly re-constellate it."

I'm curious now how this might cross over into synastry. I'm in a very weird sort of relationship with an older Aqua man, and we have some freaky synastry, including my Uranus conjunct (exact) his SN. I figure one could interpret that is terms of past lives but I wasn't sure how. Also, my Sun is conjunct his Uranus, and my moon is in his 11th. Then we have this lovely grouping: his Aqua Venus/Jupiter/MC conjunct my Aqua NN/Mars/Vertex, all within a 6 degree orb. His MC is exact conjunct my Vertex, and his Venus exact conjunct my NN. When I first met his, the meeting dug out a very powerful "reliving" of a past trauma" in my life, as well as issues concerning my childhood. Since then, he's been rather communicative with me about some deeper issues he's been struggling with - I had chalked that up to our positive Mercury cross aspects, but prehaps the heavy Uranian theme to our synastry has something to do with it.

OT: we also have his Leo Pluto conjunct my SN, his NN conjunct my Chiron, and my moon oppo his Saturn, all with tight orbs. All of these suggest something fated and karmic. Kind of unnerving, but I don't how to put all of this together. We have a very, very unusual chemistry, which is only complicated by the fact both of us are very Uranian, not not incidentally, wounded people.

I don't know if in the end this willbe a positive thing. There's an intensity there, and much of the time I feel a lot of potential of healing and intimacy with him. But there's a few other times when I felt very vulnerable and he could just shred my soul apart if he wanted to.
