Have you noticed what writing styles people have? I haven't really looked at anyone's chart closely but have noticed that Glaucus writes very detailed posts (plu intensity) and HD writes with trying to put aesthetic in it - a lot pictures, squiggles etc (Probably tau).

I tend to write in a very block style with sentences tending to stray everywhere (retro merc aqu squ ura) (people also tell me I communicate verbally in a stream of flashes).

Have you noticed this in others? What does your mercury say about this?

Ive noticed that too.

I tend not to write in sentence form...cant be bothered to think bout how I write when writing that way doesnt come natural to me...it ruins the train of thought...maybe with more practice I'll get used to it

Im also a minimalist when it comes to writing...though dont think I could top sd . I wonder how some are able to type lengthy posts...I cant focus and write about on one subject for too long...Im quick to move on.

DD - I'm like you, I'm a bit of a minimalist when it comes to writing despite of the straying in it. It amazes me how people on the net can write pages and pages on a topic on here yet I tend to say what I want to say within a few sentences. I often wonder if I am incompetent at astrology or something!!

same here with the minimalism thing lol
I've got Mercury in Taurus in the 12th, square Mars, opposite Moon. Maybe these indicate that? I don't like writing long posts either...though I don't mind reading when other people do.

dulce luna, I've seen some of your posts and there's nothing wrong with the way you write.

Thanks DD & Taurean Scorp, I guess I am just like everyone else. Probably just my insecurity

Yeah, I third the notion of being a minimalist. I'm never usually a person to type an entire essay like some of the "big guys" here. I'm like "whoa". And my mercury also aspects pluto which would suggest so...and it also opposes neptune explaining my inability to focus sometimes. Sometimes I feel like my posts are all over the place, jumping from one subjuct to another so quickly.

23...do you think the minimalist style has something to do with Aquarius? Have you noticed any other Aquas on the board...doesnt seem like there are that many.

Taurean_Scorpion...sq Mars, opp Moon...looks like you're just cautious of what you say/post. That may be partially why I dont say as much...mine is conj mars, opp jupiter.

I feel ya DL...Ive got Chiron square my Mercury (I still feel Ive gotta lot of work to do in the communications department)

Hehe ditto on Chiron ... I have Merc in Taurus conj Chiron by 6 degs. I think my inner Leo (plus party in the 5th) would compel me to write long, verbose posts, but ehh my life isn't half as crazy/tragic/eventful as the other folks here. Nice to hear from everyone, concise or otherwise!

I should be putting this in the other thread, but I just found out that, disregarding Chiron, my Mercury is unaspected. I thought it was conj Mars by wide conjunction, so I attributed my cursing habit to that. BBL, I'm gonna go read up on this.

Thanks Glaucus

DD - there are the odd aqu around but I'm really bad at remembering people's tags so I can't remember who is who. I think Aqu do tend to be minimalist in writing, must be the scientific thing about merc in aqu, logical and to the point.

I should also mention that my merc is also conj my sun (like completely!) as well as opposed saturn. Merc sits in the 10th with sun. Luckily I have had some of my work published professionally and although I have learnt to be verbose professionally, my natural style is short and to the point

Aquarius on the 3rd house cusp; Pisces intercepted
The ruler of my 3rd houses are: Uranus in 11, Saturn in 8, Neptune in 1, Jupiter in 3
My Chartruler (Jupiter) is in Pisces in 3rd house

I only speak when I have something to say, or if I'm feeling really creative and outspoken that day...And if the topic calls for personal experience, or if I really know what I'm talking about..

otherwise, I'm a watcher...But writing style wise, I notice I write the same way I speak. Dramatic, with great emphasis on certain words...FAST sometimes,...run on sentences and typos :-P

I'm a really fast talker...dunno what represents that though

Mercury in Scorpio, 2nd house
3rd house - Sagittarius
Jupiter in the 5th house
Neptune in Capricorn, 3rd house

I can go off on tangents, and lets not discuss my spelling! I'm sure I communicate with my mercury/mars square or mercury/uranus conjunction, but I'm always digging away because the conjunction is scorpio, and I can be very stubborn at digging because the square is leo/scorpio and fixed. I was once told my essays read like novels!

12th house Merc in Taurus - not sure about my writing style. It varies a lot. Some days I have a lot to say and other times I don't put down a lot of stuff.

Most of the time I blog at myspace. There is where my inner stuff comes out.....

I want to explain something. I type long detailed posts because I feel the need to elaborate. I feel that the more that I elaborate, the less that people might ask me questions about stuff. I am not really good with answering questions when people put me on the spot. I was never good at that in school. I would look dumb in front of the other students.

I am much better with spontaneous language than I am with demand language. It takes me time to produce and organize the words in my head. After all, I am a person who thinks mainly in pictures. I am a very visual thinker. I am not primarily a verbal thinker. My neuropsychologist pointed out that people with strong visual skills who lack comparable verbal facility can often be frustrated because they have difficulty communicating their ideas in a highly verbal society. That is true for me..especially in my early childhood years when I needed intensive speech therapy. Because I still have those problems, psychiatrists thought I had some psychotic thought disorder. That's very pitiful.

That could be indicated by my Neptune in 3rd in t-square,Mercury parallel Neptune,3rd house ruler(Pluto)sextile Neptune, and Mercury conjunct Sun/Neptune midpoint.

Here is to explain what I mean. this is from learning disability site

Language Disability. It is possible to think of language output as being spontaneous or on demand. Spontaneous means that the person initiates the conversation. Thoughts have been organized and words found before speaking. Demand language means that one is asked a question or asked to explain something. Now, she must organize his thoughts, find the right words, and speak at the same time. Most people with a language disability have little difficulty with spontaneous language. However, in a demand situation, the same person might struggle to organize her thoughts or to find the right words. http://www.ldanatl.org/aboutld/teachers/understanding/types.asp

I always think and organize my words before I speak, write, and type. That's how I compensate. My typing long posts is actually a compensatory style. I even check over my work. If I make mistakes,I correct them. I often backspace and retype stuff. If it wasn't for computers,I wouldn't even be typing. I got D's in Typing Class in 10th grade. I almost failed Radioman A School in the navy because I couldn't qualify on the teletype. I qual'd on the computer, and so I passed the course. The ship that I had picked had computerized telecommunications equipment.

Any ways.. I have re-edited numerous posts too. I have done that a lot if I have errors or leave stuff out. I will often suddenly have stuff pop in my head that I wished that I included in my post, and so I will insert those thoughts into my post.

You can say my compensatory typing style is my Virgo Ascendant and its ruler Mercury in 3rd contraparallel retrograde Saturn in Gemini in 9th.

I've noticed that some fire ascendants here are very dramatic in their writing style....even if they have a water sun or mercury. It makes me wonder how they are in real life.

I tend to write in a matter-of-fact way and semi-formal. I like structure in my paragraphs, I try to keep an eye on spelling as well as sentence structure.

When I do write I also tend to separate my paragraphs as I know it allows for comfortable reading vs that rambling on 10 inch paragraph that makes my head hurt LOL.... no offense to anyone- that is just how I am.

I also avoid abbreviations and slang structure such as no capitalization, using the word "u" for you or lack of punctuation.

Nothing offends my Virgo rising (conjunct Pluto in Virgo) Mercury in Capricorn more than trying to read abbreviated posts that also lack puncuation LOL.... I like my reading material to be pretty and structured (I am sure Venus in the 3rd contributes to that as well).

To my discredit though- when thoughts come to me rapidly I have an tendancy to make more errors (Uranus square Mercury) and when I am emotional I will tend to get more formal in my writing and I tend to be a bit caustic (to some more than others).

I am also sympathetic to those that have trouble writing, people that are struggling with our language and the youngin's because they are used to net-slang. I just have an awful hard time taking a plea for help seriously when I see "I nd u 2b thr 4 me"

It looks like gobbly gook to me and I have to spend time trying to decipher it LOL.... yes - I do sound old eh?

Glaucus,

" I would look dumb in front of the other students."
You have NEVER come across as "dumb" to me. Quite the opposite! You`ve been writing some of the deepest and smartest posts I`ve read; your way of thinking has often been very inspiring, and I enjoy your long posts. I love to read, especially such insightful stuff!
