Hi everyone,

What in a natal chart would indicate a tendency to analyze so deeply into something that you find patterns that are basically formulated by your own brain?

I say this because as a Sag with mostly Sag energy, I know that we are supposedly good at seeing patterns.. I also have Moon in Gemini. and so tonight I realized that I am creating links just because I can, not because they are really there.

This is problematic because I am making assumptions about the beginning of a relationship with someone, based on these apparent 'messages'.. which I'm thinking are purely self-created.

Help?

I'd appreciate it.

Feel free to add your own thoughts and experiences or to give me some insight from my chart:

Thanks!

Hey Shirty.. I have the same problem and I'm a Virgo sun/Scorpio moon/Sag rising...I'm the biggest over-analyzer in the world which can be my biggest strength and weakness at the same time.

I looked at your chart real quick to see what aspects we have in common, and we both have Venus in Scorpio conjunct Pluto....so that might have something to do with it? Scorpio tends to over-analyze and be paranoid over everything, especially when it's placed in Venus.

Hi Blue

That makes a lot of sense.. It's funny because I guess there are a few signs that tend to overanalyze, just differently.

You may be right about the Venus - Pluto conjunction. Especially since I am talking about relationships here.. also indicated the obsessive-compulsiveness I have regarding relationships, which leads to the overanalyzing in the first place. I'm so easy-going with a lot of things in my life... then you hit relationships and I'm all over the place!

thanks for the feedback!

I have a Piscean Sun/Gemini Asc friend who over analyzes ALL the time. I always jokingly say that he should curb is spider anteanna sometimes. Seems he over analyzes "feelings", probably due to the Piscean influence.

I mean, usually he's right but sometimes, he can overdo it so much that he sees things that are not there.

Could it be a "mutable" thing?

I too am pisces sun/gemini asc and I bash things to death over and over again in my mind. I'm sure I drive my friends absolutely nuts sometimes!

Even overanalyzed a past relationship to death on this very forum.

I have mercury in aquarius too which is fun, I like to talk. Lol.

hey i am a cappy sun with moon in gemini, and i am always analysing soemthing or the other. and i am always looking for patterns, even whn thr might be none. i also tend to jump to conclusions, esp whn it comes to relationships. so one small thing and i will be like 'he loves me', and the next day i'd be like 'oh my god he doesn't' lol and it keeps going back and forth like that.

i dont hv a venus-pluto aspect. my personal opinion is tht it has sth to do with the speed of the moon and the posn of merc at birth...check this link:

Ok, i see....that doesnt apply in your case (another example of my jumping to conclusions, heh )

but i do see a lot of mutable energy out there! must have sth to do with it!

(why the heck then do i do it? my only mutable placement is moon in gem)

Is your Moon highly aspected? Prominent in your chart? Is mercury prominent too since it rules Gemini?

I'd like to figure this out too.. maybe astrology can't pin it down :P

Personally my Moon in Gemini and Mercury are highly aspected, very active in my chart :P

this is gonna bug me for a while! hehe

I'm a 8th house Capricorn with a Virgo Moon and a Gemini Ascendant. I'm basically half Mutable, half Cardinal with one fixed placement being my Mars in Scorpio.

I analyze quite a bit, and realize I make connections that other people just wouldn't see, but often the connections I see are correct.

I'd definitely combine some Mercury with some Scorp to find an analytic mind.

yeah i am like tht too, hv to get to the bottom of things whn sth has caught my interest....hehe i just have to find a pattern

this is becoming really interesting!

shirty...

I overanalyze to death...Especially relationships.
I don't "miss" much. Because of that it is a constant need to figure it out.. "Where does it fit?" Was there more to it?" "Was there a hidden meaning in there somewhere?"

I've really tried to listen to my intuition more and connect with my feelings about something instead of relying on "thinking" alone to make better decisions.

It has served me well in other areas like research and preparing speeches.. but in relationships you can get caught up and carried away with it if your not careful...
Sometimes you have to just say.."Stop Yourself!"

I think you look to
Mercury
lots of mutable
Scorpio and Virgo (analyze)
8th house

Star, you bring some interesting points to the discussion!

And you are very right. The tendency to think instead of feel, is something I need to take control of. Moon in Gemini.. emotions are all sent to the brain :P

If I look at the placements you mentioned in my chart I have:

Mars conjunct Jupiter in the 8th house
trining
Venus conjunct Pluto in Scorpio

Mercury in Sag in the 5th
-- square Mars and Jupiter
-- conjunct Saturn
-- opposite Chiron

Mutable placements:
Sun Merc Saturn Uranus in Sag
Moon in Gemini
Mars Jupiter in Pisces

I think I fit your points :P

Cancer sun and 8th house virgo moon. Whooooweeee! I am The Queen of over-analyzing. Cancer sun and virgo moon is not a very good or easy combo to have IMO. One reason I would love to get rid of this tendency is because it happens most often in Romance....I hate it. I almost completely sabatoged something good because of it. And I have sabatoged many things in the past all because of over-analyzing. I'v just figured out that other virgo mooners are the same way. I believe there was a pisces here wit this placement a while back who reminded me so much of myself in relationships. So I would say its hard to have this moon with a Water Sun.

Another culprit is a gemini moon believe it or not.My sister is a Pisces sun/Gemini moon and is the same exact way as I am. Sabatoging things which could've been good for the same reasons.

Stargazer's response kind of reminds me of Sagittarius North Node. Part of their goal in life is to trust that they have enough information, and to feel confident making a decision. The Gemini South Node equates to a comfortability in research and seeking out all possible information, so the Sag North Node points to allowing the Sagittarian faith to shine through and guide you to the right decision.

Just thought I'd throw that out there.

My friend has similar placements mentioned above. He has a stellium in Gem in the 1st (Sun, Merc, Venus). Plus, AC in Gem, Moon in Aqua. Now there is an airy, analytical fellow if ever there was one.

I have Venus in Gem, so I overanalyze love. My progressed Moon is in Gem right now. I guess I can feel it. My mind's been a-spinning.

Ooooh, I forgot about my gemini venus. Yes, that could be why I over-analyze to death in love as well. The virgo moon just makes things worse. And I have mars in the 3rd so its almost like I never truly rest....my mind is still going 24/7 even while I sleep.

Don't discount your intuition, it may well be telling you something.

I over-analyse in my mind most emotions and it can be a problem. It's getting the balance between being emotionally prepared for life's next move or being straight-up paranoid.

I think this is one of those things you get better at deciphering the older you get.

It's all trial and error and very personal to your own experience.

Ah yes, I have Venus and Mercury in Aquarius and Neptune in Sag and the Moon in Scorpio in the 1st.

shirty,
i think your uranus/sun conjunction is has been kicking in big time .i agree that right now your intuitions are very strong ,but your emotions are volatible and changing that you are second guessing yourself.stay with the numbers,it is a good way to ground.
i would think that some of your friends may be suggesting you are acting or thinking a bit "crazy" recently.your moon is conjunct chiron so be careful you don't alienate your buddies by being to up front.in spite of your turmoil your analytical powers are very good.again just try to show a little tact if you feel you have to share your criticisms with others.and i'd like to add a bit of caution.your are in a very radical and adventurous mood, becareful with your new bf/date.don't get on a ledge you can't walk back from.

hi shirty,
i mean that you seem to be in a rather radical emotional state, like you will do something just because you are told not to.
so you may not be adverse to putting yourself on the "edge".the composite chart of your "date" showed some very radical aspects itself.so i am saying be careful that you don't put yourself in a sutuation your feel is strange, just because you are open to taking chances now

patterns are synthetic as opposed to analytic. when you analyze something, you see details, not patterns. Is like going very close (details – virgo) vs looking from a distance (patterns – sag).

Seeing what you want to see – that could be the idealistic self-protecting grand-trine Noel Tyl talks about, with one side in sag (for seeing the patterns one wants to see).

i know one guy with virgo retrograde mercury, square gemini saturn who analyses things to death.
