http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/comments/display?contentID=AR2006121300452 Suicide Pt. 2...I found a link concerning anti depressant/anxiety medication prescriptions and the increased incidents of Suicide in those that took said medications. There is more info out there on this, but most of them say that the FDA has been aware of the data for a long time. That 'talk therapy'i.e. psychotherapy, while cost prohibitive to some takes a back seat in all economics. The studies done [and by whom?] show an increase in suicide to those they are supposed to help. Thoughts? And for those who dislike non-astrological posting here, this is the only place D & I both look in on. So kindly look the other way. Hope the link works D

Hi Node,

I checked out the the link you included in your post as I was interested in the reference...

Don't know if it was an oversight or not, but the link you provided was for comments on the article, not the actual article itself. I did find the article through your link and alas, it did not speak to psychotherapy.

Click on the Title of the article, in red, [the Header] you get the full article. And indeed their are references [Quote] by the President elect of the Psyc Admin. Pharm. Admin. and the FDA. There is also a link for those who wish to find a Dr.

Thanks for the heads up! I re-read the article, still can't find any discussion about talk therapy/psychotherapy...it is nearly 1:30am. Maybe I need to hit the hay, lol. I'll look tomorrow.

Thanks for the reply D. In our lengthy discussions on this 6 months ago, we both agreed that one method, or approach, was rarely the most successful. That a good Dr. 'fit' or relationship, in tandem with proper medications is of the greatest benifit to the patient. I still believe that. A while back I came upon some data that concluded that a certain block of patients [the 18 to 24's] were most prone to an adverse reaction [suicide]{also the largest demographic for suicide period??} while the numbers then, and now, may not seem significant; I feel it deserves closer inspection. I am also aware that my seeming bias towards these medications may lead me to look for studies that support it. Certainly whatever our opinions, on any subject, we can find data to confirm those beliefs/opinions. I bring this up because you have a personal AND professional interest. Your a smart, well conected lady. and will help me puzzle the data, and the accompaning opinions out. Separating wheat from chaf?
